Yes, I've been to Amsterdam and this looks just like them. That's because the Zwaanendael Museum was designed to honor the city hall in Hoorn, Netherlands. The museum exhibits the history and settlement of the southern coast of Delaware. I thought the train lines were very interesting as well as the Delftware on display. Perhaps you missed that Lewes was bombarded by the British during the War of 1812 (there's a house with a cannonball not far away). The museum is free but definitely accepts donations. Closed toed shoes for walking around the park is a must, I went unprepared with flip flops. The restrooms inside were also clean. There's a gift shop and a library as well. The exhibit was very well done and I absolutely loved how interactive it was, it's also handicap accessible and self guided! I definitely recommend checking out the wildlife drive across the street at blackwater refuge, we saw the statue of Harriet Tubman catching a muskrat to then seeing one at the refuge!

A fun old-timey place to look at random curiosities from around the world…read more Beware, while some of the displays are fun pieces of art, some of it is definitely macabre. Make sure your children aren't squeamish (e.g. there are several displays of shrunken heads and video explaining how it is done. There are several interactive spaces, most notably the spinning tunnel (if you get vertigo, do NOT enter here!) as well as a little play area for kids that ends with a slide. In all, it's easy to spend an hour and you could definitely stretch this into two or more if you like to explore everything in detail. You can bundle tickets to the museum to then go to the mirror maze which is loads of fun (but make sure you keep your hand out in front of you! the mirrors are angled so well that some stretches look like a long hallway when you only have 5 feet in front of you!) - worth it; and they let us bring the stroller in too.

We tried opening one door to a random building, but it was locked and we don't even know if that was a building that we were supposed to go to. We stood outside with another couple who are also wondering the same thing who would let have liked to go inside, but we did not see any volunteers around. We stood outside, taking photos as we did not want to interrupt any businesses or homes nearby. Great history. It is definitely worth seeing a perfect 5 to 10 minute check it out what type of activity.

Located on the Delaware/Maryland state line, the Fenwick Island Lighthouse is the oldest lighthouse…read morein Delaware. It was built in 1858 and stands a proud 87 feet tall. The lighthouse is painted white but the paint has certainly faded since its last restoration and needs a major touchup. Still, it's a beautiful brick structure even if it is not currently used for navigation. There really aren't great angles for photos since the street has a power line that gets in the way. Right up close and looking directly up is the best you'll get. I stopped by on a Tuesday evening at 6pm. The structure was closed. Also nice is the fact that you can get close (sometimes even inside) to the displays, as compared to some of the larger museums. A lot of local history and the NAS's contribution during WWII. I would plan on spending an hour or so minimum - more if your really want to dig in to the displays & videos available. Great for the family & history/aviation buffs. PS - if you're there earlier in the day - check out the Flight Deck Diner for some good comfort food and displays of patches/aircraft models..
