We had variations on burgers and they were good if not out of the box. Plenty of on-site beer options. As a visitor from the States this is the best local beer. Tried Porter which was ok but two others were just good IPA style beers without being over the top. I am sure this could be more crowded in the evening but settled for being open for food mid afternoon which seems a bit of a rarity in Tasmania and this area.

It's definitely off the beaten track so a bit of a destination visit but if you want to see where McHenry's magic happens, this is where it's at! If you can come here as part of Tasmanian Whisky Tours or Bespoke Tasmania's gin workshop, I can't recommend the latter any more highly. A tour of the distillery, lunch flavours matched to G&Ts, AND distillation of gin botanicals that I picked out to make a special bespoke gin. So rad. I'M A GIN MAKER NOW. Plus I may have also bought some barrel-aged gin and some sloe gin (and I even got to stir some steeping sloe berries, eee!). Gin nerd dream day complete, McHenry Distillery is kind of like a visit to Dreamworld for me.

Operating in the warmer seasons on Fridays (and some bonus Sundays), Farm Bar is what it says on the box: a bar at a farm. More importantly, the bar is at 2MT's farm, where they make their delicious ales and ciders, so by now you can probably guess what's in stock at the bar. Correct: you can get a middy or a pint of delicious real ale or cider, kick back, and relax. Food is BYO, DIY -- the only food for purchase is hulking great slabs of 2MT's beer-fed beef and sausages, and there's a BBQ on site for you to cook up immediately (or you can take your meaty treasure home to savour at a later date). So bring your own salads, burger buns, stuff to eat off, chips and dips... you can even bring your own meat, if you want. Just don't forget to bring your own noms out with you. 2MT's Farm Bar is just under an hour's drive from Hobart, just outside of New Norfolk, and if you book ahead then you can score a seat on the #farmbarbus, which means for only $15 return, you're not the designated driver. The whole…read moretour last about 90 mins - the actual tour was about 60 mins and the last 30 mins was for beer tasting. The beer tour was OK - you get to see different parts of the brewery and since we came on a Sunday, nothing was actually happening. I gave this tour a three stars because I hated the silly yellow vest and the eye goggles that I had to wear . Even though the tour was quite informative, I felt that the guides were not *that* knowledgeable as they could not answer some people's questions. The beer tasting at the end of the tour was quite interesting, you get to try two beers that are only available in Tasmania. The local cheese that they serve with the beer was pretty awesome!

I can here with my sister and her partner. We decided to just have a few pints to taste and check out the museum. Cute little history of the brewery but would probably be boring for the kids. We then got a cheese platter and sat out in the sun trying different pints. The cheese selection is pretty good. I recommend getting some of the cheese in the store to take home. They also have some beer on tap that you can only get in Tasmania! Not all of their beers are on tap though.
