Holy dooley. I had an amazing day out here making my very own gin thanks to Bespoke Tasmania. Bill's got a wonderful setup down here and touring the distillery and bond store feels like visiting a cool uncle's setup. It's definitely off the beaten track so a bit of a destination visit but if you want to see where McHenry's magic happens, this is where it's at! If you can come here as part of Tasmanian Whisky Tours or Bespoke Tasmania's gin workshop, I can't recommend the latter any more highly. A tour of the distillery, lunch flavours matched to G&Ts, AND distillation of gin botanicals that I picked out to make a special bespoke gin. So rad. I'M A GIN MAKER NOW. Plus I may have also bought some barrel-aged gin and some sloe gin (and I even got to stir some steeping sloe berries, eee!). Gin nerd dream day complete, McHenry Distillery is kind of like a visit to Dreamworld for me. read more
