Back in the 90ties I were studying Geography, and we were making a analysis of the street. It had been a vibrant street in a working class area with all kinds of shopping. The street died, and it raised again like a phoenix. All the essential shopping is back, but it's a hipster community. Fortunately a lot of the housing in the area is non-profite, so the area known as The Black Square is still black by it's emigrants and drunks. You can also spot a student or two. In the street you can buy to expensive coffee, support Islamic extremists, have icecreme, buy clothing, hang out with cheap beer, or do what you want. We're inclusive at Blågårdsgade. Just remember we live here, and you're a probably a guest.

A great area that embodies Inner Nørrebro perfectly. A lot of Danes (including those "with another…read moreethnic background than Danish," as ethnic Danes would say), international hipsters, and immigrants like me hang out here. Although the street itself is dirty, the shop fronts are colourful and attractive and the graffiti is cool (NOT the tagging). Why are we all hanging out here? Because there is something for everyone. Blågårds Apoteket for the older day-drinking crowd, Harbo Bar for the hipsters, Beyti for drunks in need of a meal, and Cafe N for the vegetarians. Obviously these divisions are not cut and dried and of course there are also some places with a mostly mixed demographic like Props, Hind Marked, or the library. Although this street has had a troubled past, it is a nice blend now and when I'm here I feel at home. It's especially great when there is a block party or fleamarket going on. Definitely check it out if you are visiting Copenhagen, just stay out of the way of cyclists. Eat: Bluetaco, Ahaaa, Beyti, Kimia Drink: Harbo Bar, Blågårds Apoteket, Props Shop: Hind Marked, Insula Music, Blågårds Blomster Hang: Støberiet, Harbo Bar, Arabica

This is a truly strange tourist attraction. And, I use that term,"Tourist Attraction," lightly…read more It is said that this place is the home to many of those who live an alternative lifestyle in Copenhagen. They claim that this area is completely beyond the rules and the laws of Copenhagen. In some ways, that is pretty easy to see as the main street is lined with people selling weed and hash, which is still illegal in Denmark. Copenhagen is not Amsterdam. Though a bit sketchy, this city within a city is very well maintained. I am sure there is some other story going on here. ...One that we will never know. This being said, what you will find here is some of the best street art and graffiti that you will witness anywhere across Copenhagen. Of course, it is clearly stated all over the place, "No Photos." But, I'm guess that is more to keep the people dealing drugs safe and off the radar than anything else. One of the funny/interesting things I find about this location is that tour buses actually pull up to it. I don't know, maybe it's just me me, but if you are truly embracing an alternative lifestyle that all seems rather intrusive. Nonetheless, this is an interesting place. Even if all you do is look at the great street art, it is worth the visit.

A lovely park which I never wanted to leave!…read more Located in the the middle of the Frederiksberg neighborhood, and surrounded by a circle of museums, it is a spectacular oasis. I was on a bit of a time schedule to see all the things I wanted to see before they all closed, so instead of getting to relax and enjoy the park like I wanted to, I ended up using it as a shortcut/walk-through option to get to the places I was going. I am so glad I did, because it is absolutely gorgeous. There is a castle to see (but not to visit...it looks like it is home to official offices and the website indicates tours two times per month), paths and ponds and canals and so much greenery! I wish I could have explored the whole park and spent the entire afternoon there. It was clean and beautiful. If nothing else, you should walk through the park to get from the Storm P. and Satire museum area to get to the Cisterne (which is an ABSOLUTE MUST SEE). The paths are clear and easy to follow. Ya gurl loves a park. And she loved this park too!

It is advertised as a romantic garden park, and that name seems very appropriate. There is lush, beautiful green everywhere, with flowering plants throughout. Several little lakes and cute bridges are found throughout. Swans, ducks, geese, pigeons, and seagulls were found in many places. There was an area for kids with many young families gathered for some special event the night we were there. At another part of the park, it looked like people were arriving for a concert of some kind later that night. There were a lot of people enjoying the park, but it never felt overwhelmingly crowded, as the park is so big. If I lived in Copenhagen, this park would be a regular for me.
