I'll start this review with the proverbial "Hella Good is hella good."…read more We came here to this area to do some shopping while we were in town, and this place grabbed my attention. The wait was definitely not for very long. We got a pager that buzzed pretty soon after we wandered off. For those who are/were unfamiliar as myself (being American on holiday), Hella Good is a place that serves Mediterranean-style wraps with pita bread filled with meat, veggies, and very delicious sauce. I got the Arnie, which includes the lamb leg meat. It was good. I don't know how it compares to other local offerings since this was one of a kind during our trip. FYI: - When you charge your card, it gives you a choice between charging in AUD or your home country's currency. Not sure if that makes a difference, but I think that's interesting. - It can get messy if you unwrap it a certain way, so have napkins and sanitizer available. - There are multiple locations.

Well, actually, no, namely because there is little difference between the two. However, the souvlakis are actually pretty awesome anyway. They also do chips, and while the herbs used in making the chips were pretty nice, I did find them a little soft. Still, the place isn't all that bad.

There's…read morethis shark on the cover of their pink pamphlet that looks like he's straight out of the clip art from DOS software or some shit. But that's beside the point. Funny, but beside the point. The point is, Miller Fish & Chips used to have this rep as being the best around. As it goes with all such title holders, the quality invariably deteriorates and before long, they are pretty much the shittest around but still holding on to those 'best of' prices. Enter new owners about four months ago. These new people actually seemed to give a toss about service and revamped the menu to incorporate all these 'meal deal' type combinations. Things were looking up, but as you can tell by my usage of the past tense, this wasn't to last. They were good for a spell and I even started to use them pretty regularly for takeaway delights until last week when a phone order I lodged was misinterpreted as something completely different. When I told the woman she'd duffed my order (I had read the thing straight off of the pink menu, so I was in the right for once), she looked like she wanted to spit at me. Sure, she righted the wrong and straightened the deal, but the damage is done. A certain amount of knowledge of your own menu should be a given in hospitality me thinks, as should be a little customer service.

It came with fish chips a scallop a crab stick a shrimp and two calamari rings- all for 12.70 - can't be beat really - The crab stick was good - for imitation crab- the scallop needs to be defrosted and salted before frying to cut down on the liquid that makes the breading soggy - the calamari rings were ??? Odd- the fish was ok the chips were pretty good- but to the devil if can't get chips right- I have no idea about the shrimp as my 9 year old claimed it with the lighting speed movements resembling a ninja - I could ask him but I don't truly trust his palate as he still likes sprinkles on ice cream - one little note for my friends at Millers - give a bit of tomato sauce with your food - anything that enhances the flavor of your food helps you in the long run !!

I'm not really sure why, I guess it was just that this was the first one that I happened to walk past. I have to say that it wasn't all that fantastic, but it wasn't all that bad either. I ended up having a long black, which was nice, and the waiter will bring it out too you (though you tend to get that service in most cafes). I ended up sitting on the seats out on High Street, which is okay, but once again not that fantasic, particularly since it is Preston (not that there is anything wrong with Preston, it's just that there are other parts of the city I would prefer to sit drinking a coffee).

Sure enough, this cafe is quite busy and has many lunch options at affordable prices. I think I've only ever had the one menu item everytime I come and that is because it is a consistent good quality meal. I am talking about their Chicken Parmigiana for under $15, which is a large portion and better quality than a lot of pub Parma's priced over $20. The coffees here are also quite good. If you sit here long enough waiting for the rain to subside you notice many locals visit here, come in for a coffee and a chat - the staff are very friendly and seem to know their regulars well. The decor is simple but has many seating options, including main Street seating if you're into that sort of thing. For decent food in both price and taste and for friendly customer service, you should check this place out if you're in the neighbourhood.

There are a couple of other tokenistic ocean references adorning the blue walls of this rather simple and delightful fish and chippery, along with an arcade grab-a-prize game near the entrance. Prices are standard for city fish and chips, and the usual selection of fish, snacks, souvlakis and burgers along with a couple of vegetarian options and a fritter based desert menu. Although it serves the packs in boxes, it's an example of really good fish and chips. The chips are crispy on the outside and buttery on the inside and eating the flake is like burning your tongue on a greasy piece of heaven. I recommend getting everything fish and chips based covered in chicken salt. Enjoy.

I'd not usually take the time to bore you with a running commentary of my McDonalds misadventures,…read morebut I feel it's my duty as a responsible and caring member of this community to warn you against this particular McDonalds outlet. Out of the 200 or so McDonalds in and around the city you'd have to be unfortunate to stumble across this one, but if you are driving by on Pascoe Vale Road one day and get the Macca's munchies, please drive on five more minutes to the next one. Living nearby I've been here three times over a couple of months, and as with baseball if you get three strikes with me, you're out. Don't get me wrong, I don't expect too much out of a cheap fast food joint. But when I've asked for a bacon mcmuffin (notice, not even a mention of egg), and get an egg mcmuffin, particularly when I've gone through the drive-thru in my PJ's with my two young children, all of us sick, I get a bit peeved that I need to suffer the humiliation to enter the store in a dishevelled state to get what I ordered. On my second visit I can't even get annoyed at getting a shot of coffee with a tea bag, because you know that's how they do a black tea at McCafé. I do feel like slapping the face of the little upstart who then stands there and argues with me that yes indeed, that is a black tea, and how did I want it then if that wasn't right -hmmph!? The straw that broke the camels mcback came after a long day of traveling for work. I wearily pulled into the drive-thru, relieved for the Macca's dinner meal that was going to save me from an hour of tortuous cooking. Yeah well, saved me from cooking three meals at least; unfortunately one whole section of the order was missing. In the end I guess my bowl of steamed vegies with Singapore needles in a blend of Asian sauces should have been fulfilling enough, but even without tasting a bite McDonalds had managed to leave a sour taste in my mouth. So, the problem isn't about how shit it tastes, coz lets face it Maccas isn't receiving a Chef's hat anytime soon for any of their outlets. It's the simple principle of trading and consumerism; it's not worth paying even $1 for a product if it's the wrong bloody one.

Now you'd expect an occasional mistake to be made when fast food joints are busy but I'd say 8 out of 10 times there's something missing or replaced in our order. WTF! Don't the staff get trained anymore? Don't they listen to customers' orders? We've had to repeat our order 2, 3 or more times before staff have finally got it. And then of course we get the order & it's wrong! Is there a language difficulty, or are the staff there just hard of hearing or do they have learning difficulties? Or don't they care? Surely this needs to be looked into by management. If you can avoid Oak Park maccas, do so, do yourself a favour & save yourself the disappointment - go eat elsewhere.
