With terracotta walls adorned with what my mother would call 'typicos', (ever since her two week holiday in Madera, where everything on sale in the souvenir shops that was characteristic of the island was labeled 'typico', for the benefit of the tourists), it makes for a pleasant setting for a relaxed evening out. Although occupying two floors, it still manages to retain an intimate feel. The food is a synthesis of authentic Portuguese fare and classic Italian cuisine, and quite unsurprisingly, there's plenty of meat on the menu. Porto Due is probably most famous for its Kebabs, served on large metal skewers, measuring about a couple of feet in length, that are hung from the wooden beams above your table. All options are available with a choice of beef, pork, lamb, fish, chicken or a mixture of all five, which is then drizzled in garlic butter and served with fried potatoes and vegetables. It's food with a touch of theatre for the more dramatically inclined. The waiters apply the garlic butter by tying it around the tops of the skewers and then vigorously rubbing it with a cloth until it melts its way down the meat. If you prefer fruits of the sea there's plenty of choice. The muscles are particularly good, (I'm reliably informed... I don't like them myself), and are made in the unfussy traditional way, then piled high in big dish. They look impressive, and smell pretty good too... lots of garlic and butter... so they're bound to! Inevitably the wines are great. Italian red is my wine of choice wherever I am, so I'm well served here. There's some full-bodied Portuguese offerings as well. The only down side of eating here is if you have a vegetarian in your group. There's a couple of veggie options on the menu, but they're nothing to write home about... standard veggie lasagne, amongst one or two other pasta dishes. They're made extremely well, but are hardly inspirational.

I think the best way to describe it is an expensive restaurant for Cardiff standards, while offering get up and order from the counter service. We all had the fish pie which was lovely, however the price did not reflect the food, even if it was a nice fish pie. We spent many years in London dining, but we paid London prices but did not receive London food or servings to reflect the price. What did not help the venue was the ambiance. While dinner had a great atmosphere, lunch was depressing. Empty quiet and dead light upstairs. There were lots of staff on, however only one could speak enough English to actually tell us about the menu or hold a conversation. Just to ask questions of the menu was an ordeal. This has been removed from all my locals and has been replaced by a bland bean burger, bean Pitta and bean wrap. As a vegetarian bean burgers are constantly shoved in our faces as the only option. Nandos Mushroom and Halloumi pitta was a welcome and very tasty change from the norm so I am sad to see it removed. The chicken was quite nice and good qualify, and it was a nice, juicy piece however this was sadly ruined by how spicy if was, they did coat it with the medium peri-peri coating but it was so much, it tasted like I had ordered extra hot, which ruined the meal abit for me. The portion sizes here were huge, for example my friend's Chicken Butterfly was double what it normally is and nearly got a full loaf of garlix bread, meanwhile I got 4 large Chicken Thighs and more chips than I could count. The staff seemed nice enough but the service was slow, having to wait to be seated despite there being no one waiting and then for a tablw, despite obviously tables being free, although I accept thr fact they were quite busy. Overall this Nando's stores look nice but the huge amounts of everything are just off-putting, making the spices even a lot hotter than what you asked for, while consisering issues with waiting, I sadly feel this branch has only done enough to warrant two stars.

This would perhaps be less of a faux pas if it were painted on one of the garden walls, but instead, this lurid, ill-conceived, badly rendered piece of art covers the full extent of one of the interior walls. Perfect! I guess that they decided that the mural might up-stage the sizeable statuette of David that they have in the garden?! Love it, love it, love it! This is not to say that I don't appreciate high design, I do! But I would hate for everywhere to look the same. The place was packed and bustling. It's a small place full of lively diners. WOW, the four of us ordered different things and we loved all of it! I chose the seafood pasta, hubby ordered the carbonara and our friends ordered the lasagna. For starters we had a garlic pizza and the polenta with bolognese. Oh, every bite of dinner was delicious and I wanted it to be a never-ending meal. We love finding fantastic Italian food when we travel and we succeeded! Service from the entire staff was genuinely kind and caring! Kudos to Cafe Citta and the entire staff and chefs! Highly recommend!
