We joke that he didn't just learn about the natural birth process he learned how to be my "daddy doula". We still enjoy talking to people about everything we learned and how to support each other and how to speak to your doctors or the hospital nurses. Even if you aren't considering a natural birth these classes should be taken by everyone expecting a baby. You learn about the body, you learn about the different stages of labor, how to prep your body and your mind. There is even a class on breastfeeding which was invaluable those first 3 days postpartum. Lia is also an amazing teacher. If I have another I would definitely also hire her as my doula. After researching and speaking with many doulas, we decided to go with Jana. She was extremely professional, organized, knowledgeable, and most importantly, listened to what we wanted and even asked us questions that made us think about aspects of the birth we had not considered. At our first visit, she gave us a very comprehensive overview of what to expect and how to best prepare for the big day. When my contractions started, we were in constant communication via text and phone. She immediately recognized that the baby was not in a favorable position and was causing me immense pain. She suggested exercises and positions to try and get baby to turn. At the hospital, Jana worked very well with our nurse and was our advocate and spokesperson when we needed her to be. She was prepared with snacks (juice can only go so far) and other comfort items like a vaporizer with essential oils. Throughout the almost 12 hours at the hospital, Jana struck a balance between knowing when to step in and suggest positions to my husband and I, when to back off and let me do my thing, and when to push me to drink or rest. Having someone we trusted there to help guide us was invaluable, especially in allowing my husband time to get food or rest. Without Jana, I wouldn't have had the natural childbirth experience I wanted. The week after my son was born, Jana followed up to check in on us and also stopped by for a visit. It was re-assuring to have her there to answer any questions and be a resource for us first time parents. I strongly recommend her doula services and she will be my first call if we decide to add to our family!

Would I recommend Brandi Jordan as a sleep consultant? Not unless you're a celebrity or have…read morethousands of dollars to waste. For the average parent, you'll likely spend thousands of dollars only to end up back where you started--with vague, generic advice you could easily find online and some added reassurance. Brandi's approach offers little to no long-term guidance. She works on a day-by-day basis without providing written materials or a structured plan to follow, which makes it nearly impossible to build consistency once the sessions end. It feels like being handed a toolkit for a toy bike when you're trying to fix a kitchen sink, completely mismatched and ultimately unhelpful. Throughout our experience, she asked for detailed information about our child's sleep schedule, feeding patterns, and behaviors, which was time-consuming to document. Yet, those details seemed disregarded, as the feedback almost always boiled down to a generic "you'll have to let the baby cry," delivered in a reassuring but repetitive way. Months later, we're still struggling to get our child to sleep independently. We received no follow-up documents, no lasting framework, and no practical tools to help us move forward. After spending over $1,000, we were left feeling misled, frustrated, and uncertain about what to do next. If you're considering hiring Brandi, I urge you to think carefully. Save your time, energy, and resources. Look for a consultant who offers structured support, written guidance, and consistent follow-through; not someone whose attention is divided elsewhere. Parents deserve more than being treated like another number in the queue. Updated response to Brandi... I actually worked with you in April 2025, and communication stopped soon after the contract period ended. We followed your instructions exactly as outlined. Not every child responds the same way, and sometimes a more individualized approach is necessary, but it became clear you didn't have the time or availability to provide that level of support.

TW: postpartum depression, prematurity, self-harm…read more There's a reason there are very few reviews more recent than 2021, and they are negative. We contracted Brandi Jordan as a sleep consultant in June 2025 when we were in a truly desperate situation; I was hallucinating from sleep deprivation and suffering terrible postpartum depression. In hindsight, I figure that's how we fell for this. We paid over $1500 and here's what we got: a single one hour Zoom, a single 30 minute phone call about a week later (for which she was 20 minutes late), and 30-40 days of "text support," though there were several instances where she did not respond for three days despite our texts. I felt "left on read." To be fair to her, it was in our contract that this is what we could get: a one hour zoom, up to 3 follow-up calls and 30 days of text support. When I signed the contract, I did think this was sort of minimal, but I was desperate and figured "hey, maybe she can work magic." At our initial Zoom call, she said she had "never met a baby that couldn't sleep through the night after 2-3 weeks, max," so we were thrilled and hopeful! Now I know why this is true; she doesn't actually *meet* the babies- It's all virtual! She absolutely cannot work magic; please don't fall for this marketing that preys on desperate parents like we did. I feel stupid for having believed her. As other reviews have said, there is no individual tailoring, and the method she uses is essentially soft Ferberizing: letting the baby cry and cry with intermittent check-ins that get progressively longer. This was torture for all of us. Our baby was born extremely prematurely at 26 weeks and spent nearly 3 months in the NICU before coming home on oxygen. We did this contract when she was about 9 months old (6 months adjusted). We were obviously all still traumatized, and she had a lot of difficulty self-soothing at all. There was no troubleshooting about what how her and our individual situation might be contributing to sleep issues. Listening to her cry for 90 minutes in the middle of the night resulted in my self-harming several times (again, I had bad PPD). We did it though, because Brandi told us to. How it would work is that every morning we would text Brandi how the night went, and she would maybe respond that day saying something like "okay let's do that again" or "let's push this feed back 15 minutes" or something. A lot of the time she just wouldn't respond. I gave two stars because after the 30-40 days, our baby was sleeping a bit better than at the beginning (only 2-4 wakeups a night instead of 10). Additionally, this is way too expensive for such minimal support. You can find all this information online (Ferber with intermittent check-ins and dream feeds). Maybe if you have a normal or semi-easy baby this would work, but otherwise only time will help. Our baby is now 1 and wakes up about once a night every other night; only time got us here.

On the day I went into labor we were in constant communication via text. Once active labor began she came over to my home (with all of her essential oils!) and worked through the contractions with me. She was a strong supporter for me during this intense time! She came with us to the hospital and was right by my side as I delivered my son. We hired her again for our second-born son's delivery and she was with me, again, during active labor and at the hospital. We also saw her for a postpartum visit after each delivery. It's been 2 years since we first hired her and we are still friends. I text her randomly with a question and she is quick to reply! Second…read morepregnancy, previously took a hospital class, but I really wanted a natural birth this time, and had not felt prepared for that with my last class. The hospital class prepared me for interventions to expect, and basically how to be a good patient. Flor not only covered the physical aspects of birth (anatomy, hormones, what moves how and when/where, etc) but also your options and what to expect with those interventions. She is honest, clear, and explains things in a way that truly helps you understand what these interventions entail. Another very valuable component of this class is the interventions she teaches you - tools to advocate for yourself, how your partner can best support you, and many different ways to deal with the process of labor. The demonstrations of positions were so helpful! My first birth I wanted to go natural, but ended up saying yes to interventions that I felt contributed to a rocky start to breastfeeding and my baby having to be readmitted for hyperbilirubinemia. Thanks to this course I felt SO PREPARED. My biggest fear was that I wouldn't be able deal with the pain and say yes to interventions I didn't want and be disappointed. I went into labor naturally, delivered at a hospital and had a physiological, unmedicated birth of a healthy 8lb 10oz baby with no complications. My partner and I felt so united and prepared. We advocated for our birth plan and had the birth we had hoped for!! If you are looking for a birth class that is inclusive, honest, and truly prepares you to plan for the birth you want, TAKE THIS CLASS. I cannot recommend enough!! I'm an RN and truly learned so much through this class and process and have so much respect for the work Flor is doing to help women have the birth they hope for. Hospitals are for sick people and emergencies, and birth is not an illness. Flor truly honors the process for the miracle it is, and it shows in her work, website, personality and this class. Thank you Flor. For giving us the essential tools to have the birth we had hoped for.

I tried giving up multiple times. Each time, I looked at Flor and she smiled and told me I could do it. I was going on my second day in labor and Flor was with me every step of the way. She was replying to my text messages at 2:00 in the morning when my early labor stalled, she used a rebozo to help me push my baby out, Flor gave me essential oils during contractionns, she helped my husband help me through the difficult parts. This review truly breaks my heart to write. When I get pregnant with my second child and I…read morecontacted Marisol right away to book her as my Doula. I was so excited to finally meet her in person and I signed the contract right away. I immediately sent over my deposit and I requested that she provide me with a receipt for the deposit . The fact that she was initially declining my request for a receipt because she wanted to wait until after the baby was born was probably the first sign that trouble was coming. I went back-and-forth with her and asked to get my receipt for the money that I had already paid so that I could use that receipt for a reimbursement with my flexible spending account. She still refused to give me the receipt so I reached out to my flexible spending company and asked them if I had to wait for the baby to be born in order to be reimbursed and they said no. Finally, Marisol agreed to give me a receipt for my deposit. I found this quite odd since people generally get a receipt when money exchanges hands. My husband and I meet with Marisol around 36 weeks to go over the birth plan. I tell her that my plan is to have her help me labor at home as much as possible since I wanted to reduce the likelihood of medical interventions. I also asked they she capture some photos for us. Marisol explained that we should not contact her right away if labor starts in the middle of the night, only call when ready. She kept stressing this point and even emailed me a document that says to only call when we are ready for her to come. A couple of weeks later I go into labor late one night. My labor progressed quickly and we called Marisol when we wanted her to come over, no answer. I then texted her. A short time later I told her we were headed to the hospital. Labor pains got so intense that I was not able to monitor my phone so my husband and Marisol were texting. Labor pains were so intense so I requested an epidural at the hospital. Once Marisol got this information , she assumed she had more time. I guess she didn't take into account that that epidural was not completed. Long story short, she didn't make her way to the hospital until after the kid was born. Per her contract, she had 90 minutes to get to me. My labor was quick but she had a 3 hour heads up. I was actually disappointed that she came to the hospital because now it feels like a random acquaintance just showed up for one of the biggest days of your life and now you have to entertain them. She stayed with us until we got transferred to our postpartum room. At this point, Marisol was not a part of my birth story at all and I was angry. A couple days later I immediately requested a partial refund. She denied my request saying she was "available." Instead she offered me one additional 3 hour postpartum visit. I didn't accept that and said we could discuss this matter when she did her postpartum visit. During the visit, Marisol said she could tell that I "felt some type of way" and she asked me to share my feelings. I told her I felt cheated, I'm out a lot of money and she didn't have to do anything. It was her choice to not come to me right away, I followed all of her instructions. Marisol then told me she was actually on her way to me but she needed time to shower, clean her doula supplies and pack her doula bag. Once she heard about the epidural, she returned home to pack snacks. This information infuriated me....she missed my birth for this?!?! This is an area where you don't get a do over. I would imagine that with the nature of this job you would always have your supplies clean and ready. She ended up offering me 12 postpartum hours. I told her that was not what I wanted since I didn't want to think of things for her to help me with. In plus, it's easy to get help during the day. I ended up requesting my money back and threatening legal action since she breached her own contract. In the end she agreed to return 1/2 of my money ($1400) and I was able to avoid legal action. (I didn't mind taking legal action, this was an open and shut case according to the guidance I received). I'd say she still came out ahead, $1400 for 2 short visits to my house and a short 45 minute visit to the hospital after my kid was born. I am beyond bummed about this experience. So yes, I still "feel some type of way!" I'm not sure how you could say you were available yet you missed the birth. And I still can't comprehend the rationale. I'm so confused.
