I am very disappointed in their staff. They failed to demonstrate proficient patient care. Lastly, their practice/office is also very cluttered, small, dark, and has a smell to it. I cannot describe the scent; however, I know it should be there. I do NOT recommend this dental practice.

I rarely write reviews, but this experience was bad enough that I feel obligated to share…read more I actually walked out before receiving any treatment, which I have never done before. I chose this office because it's closer than my usual dentist and had great reviews. But after my experience, I seriously question how those reviews are being generated. The office is noticeably dingy, dust on surfaces, worn furniture, stained x-ray aprons, etc. The standing X-ray machine wasn't working, and after a few attempts and a computer restart, they just skipped it entirely. While I was waiting in the room I started noticing more off putting details, some bugs on the floor, dirt around a drooping plant, and what looked like damage in the wall with some sort of debris and a few bugs on it. At this point I was already questioning if I wanted to stay but it was the interaction with the dentist, Dr. Miller, that ultimately made me leave. He came in, and spoke to me from behind while looking at a computer screen. I had mentioned on the form that I sometimes had an issue with dry mouth and he asked if I wanted a "paste." When I asked what it was, he gave vague, non-answers like "something to help dry mouth." I had to ask multiple times before he vaguely mentioned fluoride and "other things." At that point, I stopped the appointment and said I wasn't comfortable continuing. Two things really bothered me about this interaction: 1. Either he didn't clearly know what he was recommending, which is concerning. 2. Or he chose not to explain it properly, which is equally concerning. Patients have a right to understand what is being recommended or prescribed to them. After I said I was leaving, the dentist immediately exited without another word. No explanation, no attempt to address concerns, nothing. The staff member did apologize, which I appreciated, but I will not be returning.

I told them my concern and they said oh yes, that's a side effect of the toothpaste we gave you. They hadn't told me that that was a possible side effect! Fortunately it was resolved by a simple polishing. However, at the next visit they gave me another toothpaste that again stained my teeth. Fortunately, I've only been using it for a week or so, but I couldn't believe they had given me another product that stained my teeth without any warning of possible side effects. Also at my last visit, they told me that I had several teeth I seriously needed to watch for cavities. The way the assistant and Dr. Slate delivered the news and went on about it did not put me at ease at all. I was extremely surprised as well, because I am on a very, very low-sugar diet, and my last visit six months ago went well... They could not think of any other legitimate reasons that I would have cavities, so I did not leave with confidence that they knew what was going on in my situation or that Dr. Slate truly cared to find out. I was also very surprised how bad they made the situation sound, given that my visit six months ago went perfectly well... I feel like this could have been prevented if they had taken the time to figure out what was going on with me.

I first visited the office after badly cracking one of my teeth. I was a part of a wedding just a few days later and I needed and rapid turnaround on my work. Dr. Ortiz saw me on the same day the incident happened and less than a week later I had a new tooth that looked remarkable. In addition to my crown, I also did a full whitening treatment that restored my teeth's natural whiteness. I looked great for the wedding and I couldn't ask for more efficient service. I returned to Dr. Ortiz for both a normal cleaning and then a full deep cleaning and scaling. Her staff did an excellent job of cleaning my teeth and explaining everything that was needed to ensure they remain healthy and attractive. I proudly recommended Dr. Ortiz to my friend, and she showed the same care and cheerfulness that won me over. Overall, I cannot recommend this dentist highly enough. She is skilled and friendly. The entire staff is approachable and deserve success.
