Acupuncture was listed as a treatment for the pinched sciatic nerve. In short, I call Kerry the Magic Lady. I have been to several acupuncturists over the years but never had the short and long term results that I have had with Kerry. Kerry spent a great deal of time taking my history, measuring and charting various energy flows throughout my body. Her knowledge of this art and her enthusiasm and willingness to share her knowledge is something I am and will always be grateful for. It was wonderful to hear why each needle was being placed where it was and what the expected outcome was. After each visit, i left feeling like I had been blessed with a new body. Within a very short period of time, I was able to work out again and, thanks to Kerry, am much more aware of how various parts of my body interact. Of course, I am continuing to see her periodically - so please, please don't take my appointment time!

I think this is because I've become very sedentary (sitting at my desk all day plus a long subway commute each way). On Friday, I became desperate and looked for a massage therapist to work on my shoulder. I picked Apothekery Acupuncture because it was located at 49th and Madison, which is close to where I work. They had a scheduling app on the website and I booked a medical/sports massage. The office was easy to reach and I found that the building has a lot of medical/health practitioners there. Apothekerry Acupuncture shares its space with a chiropractic office. The treatment room is *small* but clean. The massage: I'm only posting this review because this is the first place where THE MASSAGE ACTUALLY WORKS. IT WORKS!!! I don't expect much from massages except temporary relief; this is the first place where the relief lasted beyond the time spent on the table. I don't know how long it'll last but my shoulder still feels a lot better than it did yesterday. So, in sum, I feel like this appointment was money well spent. 5 Stars because the massage WORKED. 5/20/13 UPDATE: My shoulder went back to its normal pain free state late Sunday night.

Today's acupuncture session was the worst acupuncture experience I have ever had. First of all, Joey decided to do a "scrape" thing on my back without telling me, without talking to me about the benefits or letting me know what would happen from it, or even giving me any bit of a choice in the matter. I LITERALLY ALMOST FLEW OFF THE TABLE AND YELPED WITH PAIN. Now I have HUGE welts that look like insane bruises all over my back which she informs me tonight when she calls to check to see if I'm ok because she accidentally hit a nerve and I had intense pain after the scraping (more on that in a second) and she told me that these MARKS COULD LAST UP TO 2 WEEKS! You think she's explain this to me beforehand, right? I'm really upset about this. My back looks like it was ASSAULTED and I was suppose to wear backless dress this weekend. Next, she hit a spot on my back that literally hurt the ENTIRE day. I've had a lot of acupuncture and this has never happened to me before. When I asked her what happened, she only replied with "I don't know". It wasn't until I talked to Shelly in the reception area did I get any advice on to arnica the spot that was still hurting after Joey needled it. ALL OF THIS AND I DON'T FEEL EVEN A TINY BIT BETTER. Shellie offered me a free session to make up for everything today and kept insisting that Joey is a GREAT acupuncturist. I said NO THANK YOU!!!
