So, as a grand amateur of Mexican food, I decided to check by myself what the fuss was all about and to go there and order. First of all, the "meat+veggies+sauce" with optional fries didn't presage anything Mexican. No hot sauces; no carna assada or avocados. However there was plenty of usual components of kebab - onions, kebab meat, choice of sauces that would usually go one kebabs, etc... And to top everything, it doesn't even come in a taco, but instead wrapped in a burrito tortilla; with all being pressed in a panini machine. Don't take me wrong, the final package is delicious and can be made well-balanced with an abundance of vegetable; plus all comes for the very reasonable price of 8 CHF, drink included. However it has absolutely nothing to do with tacos or Mexican food for the matter.

We were pleasantly surprised by their choice of "tacos" (aka glorified kebab burritos) as well as their warm welcome. The owner and staff were very welcoming, the decoration was nice and the comfortable pair of couches with a low coffee table were all ours. The "tacos" were extremely tasty and we went ahead to grab a desert with their ice cream and gauffres. The dessert was on par with the tacos as well. When you order your meal, you also give them a number and you will get fast table service; a server will find you and bring the tray to your table. This is such a great location because like most cities in Switzerland, Lausanne closes up really early (especially Sundays!) so this is one of the last resorts for late night eats as it closes just before 2:00 AM in weekends. They have a lot of things that aren't available on McDonald's menus in the US and the food tends to be really fresh. They also make great french fries. It is right in front of main Lausanne train station, which is a bit dicey at night, but I don't think it's dangerous at all. Just walk straight ahead and don't listen to anyone if they ask you silly questions. There are two floors here and the top floor has a nice view with windows looking out onto the beautiful art deco train station across the street. You can order everything on the digital screens and you can also use the McDonald's Swiss/European phone app to order on your phone, although if you have a US phone and are roaming it may not let you download it. The most delicious thing I've ever had here was the "Raclette Burger" which had real melted Swiss Raclette cheese and a brioche bun; it was absolutely outstanding, but they don't offer that very often. It was just for a few months. The current double "M Burger" is amazing but has over 1000 calories. So definitely check the specials when you're ordering.

Service was friendly and quick. The location is very convenient - right across from the Lausanne train station. The hours are friendly toward travelers - 5:30am to 1am (other locations in Lausanne have more standard hours). I haven't tried lunch/dinner items at a European McDonalds in a while, so would be curious to see what the quality is like. But for now, I'd say breakfast is solid!
