We were visiting Mill Valley and decided to book a massage on a whim and it ended up being one of the best decisions of the trip. We've tried so many massage places all over the Bay Area, but Pure Thai Acupressure Massage truly stands out. The pricing is unbeatable and the hospitality makes you feel taken care of from start to finish. Right when you arrive, they provide clean, loose, comfortable clothing to change into, which already set the tone for a relaxing experience. We did a couples massage with Ellie and Peter and both were amazing. Ellie asked what areas needed the most attention, and with a job that's very upper-body heavy, my neck and shoulders are always tight. I walked out feeling like a completely different person. My back and shoulder pain significantly decreased and she worked on areas I didn't even know could be relieved. It felt intentional, intuitive, and incredibly effective. I live on the Peninsula, but I would absolutely make the commute just to see Ellie again. If you're in the area and debating it, this is your sign.

I started out by getting the Island Style massage which has her walking/massaging along my back and back of my legs. Now I get a blend of Island Style and Thai massage which incorporates some stretching as well. I do a lot of strength training so it's important to stay loose but a foam roller can only do so much. I usually go to Mai with a area in mind I want Mai to work on but she always manages to find knots I didn't know I had in other areas! Whether you're an athlete or not, I highly encourage you to see Mai as a way to recover and relax!

Unlike other massages where I feel good for a few hours, with Mai's massage the therapeutic effect lasts for days. Just as another reviewer wrote, Mai has an intuitive sense. Her fingers just seem to know what areas need the most attention. Even though Mai is petite, she is able to deliver a very sensitive yet powerful massage. She told me that she is one of the view people in the world who, at the age of 17, learned from a massage master in Asia a technique called "Island Massage". Using this technique, Mai is able to use her feet and body weight to perform a massage that is difficult to describe. i have never experienced this style of massage elsewhere. I would definitely recommend these massages to anyone that is recovering from an injury, post-op instructions, or just feeling sluggish and need to drain their system of toxins and get more energy. The added bonus is that both of these women are such healers, honestly!

I was super nervous and didn't know what to expect (will it hurt, etc) but I booked my first session 2 days after my surgery and made it to the appointment in their beautiful Mill Valley Location. Yes- you really can go a day or two after surgery. Jordana was wonderful - she was very kind and eased my nerves immediately, even though I was 30 minutes late (whoops.) The massage was very gentle, not painful at all- and afterwards she advised on my compression garments and sent me on my way feeling so much better and with a lot more mobility than when I hobbled in. A few days later I saw Stefanie in the San Francisco location- she was also wonderful- but I ended up mostly going up to Mill Valley for the rest because the location is more convenient from where I live (and has free parking :) I'm not sure where I'd be without Jordana at this point-probably a ball of anxiety and nerves which apparently isn't good for recovery. It's been amazing to see someone consistently who can tell me if everything is looking and healing OK, and help adjust the compression when needed. I really can't recommend her enough - if you're thinking about booking, just do it. Worth every penny!

When we moved to California I was heartbroken to say good-bye to Seattle and my massage therapist. Anyone who goes in for regular massages knows that when you find the right person it's like finding gold. It took me almost a year to find Tim after we moved here, and going through several massage therapists in the process, but he was worth the wait! If I could get a massage from Tim everyday I would. I go in to him broken and he fixes me up every time. I get 90-minute deep massages and with some other massage therapists I would sometimes feel a little sore from the pressure or the opposite, they would be too soft on my poor knotty body and I would still be all wound up. I actually didn't realize that you didn't have to be sore after a deep tissue massage, an effective deep tissue massage, until I went to see Tim. Tim has the perfect technique. My mom is just as bad with her back and shoulders so when she comes and visits me she always goes to see Tim. If you're in need of some relief and want a really good deep tissue massage go and see Tim. He'll fix you right up. His rates are comparable if not better than some other places. Tipping is not expected. $75 per 60-minute massage $110 per 90-minute massage I think he also does in-home massages and those rates would probably be different from his office massages. Either way, if you need some help with a sore back, shoulders, whatever - Tim will fix you right up. If you've been to Mill Valley Massage, look no more, this is the Tim that was there.
