Owner Gio has been running this business for the past 7-8 years - quite surprised by this because I wish I had noticed it sooner! When I arrived, Gio was super friendly as was her assistant. As said previously, it is only $30 for a women's style cut ($25 for men and $15 for under 7's), which is a great price! However, it doesn't include a hair wash/hair massage - this is an extra $5, but even then, $35 for a haircut is still pretty good! Even though there were a few language barriers throughout the time I was there, we both just ended up laughing! As also said, it would be good idea to bring a picture of the exact style cut you want, however I was just getting a trim and showed Gio using my hands how much hair I wanted chopped off. Gio did a great job, was attentive and very efficient - highly recommend! As well as haircuts, they also do manicures, pedicures, acrylic, nail art and the like. Definitely planning to go back to get a pedicure done! Another benefit of Gio Hair & Nail is that it is situated right next to the Newmarket Train Station, which means it is easy to get to if you're taking the train from the CBD after work, and it's also near all the shops, cafes and restaurants on Broadway, which would make it the perfect weekend activity, after a spot of shopping of course!

We saw their regular customers being offered a cup of tea while we just sat there with no drinks. I saw other customers who didn't seem to be regulars that also didn't get drinks. We started with a pedicure and it was the most uncomfortable pedicure we've got. The girl who did my friend's put HOT WATER in the tub and nearly burned my friend's feet. The tubs aren't attached to the chair so it kept moving and we had to put our weight on it to keep it steady. Clearly it was not a relaxing time for us. We then moved onto our gel manicure. They seemed to have lots of colour options but they actually didn't have quite a number of them in stock. Best to check with them before picking a colour. The ladies who did mine and my friend's manicure cut our fingers but didn't even apologize for it and didn't put rubbing alcohol to prevent infection. They just proceeded with the rest of procedures with the blood on our fingers... It was also the most expensive manicure we've got for a simple one colour gel manicure. I wouldn't recommend this place to my friends and wouldn't come back here again...

They cover a full range of manicure and pedicure options, and every treatment that I've had has been done to perfection. Even if you just go in for a basic file and polish, they do it so carefully and with absolute precision, and the manicure comes with a killer hand massage. Equal to the results you get is the service. The women working at Sassi are so friendly and polite, and obviously make a real effort to keep the salon looking clean and fresh, and stocked with plenty of new, quality mags (always vital!). The products are OPI-based and they stock a full range of OPI products including Gelcolours and the ever-delicious Avojuice. They also do a mean Shellac and offer all those extensiony fake things too. The prices are at the higher end, but it's superb value for money. Don't forget to pick up a loyalty card when you pay - you'll be back!

There was a crazy and / or interesting retro music dvd playing on the TV when I got my nails done last - this was entertaining in an amusing way! There is a lot of OPI nail polishes to choose from and this place normally has some specials advertised on their window - they even do a student discount (I think it is 10% off but call to check). I was really impressed with my nails and also the cleanliness of this nail salon.

Straight after that she became extremely grumpy and treated me very poorly like I just made a mistake of my life. Service was quick with poor attention to detail! Scrub during the pedicure - not thorough enough. Poor management too as I did 'normal' colour and my sis did shellac - but instead of them speeding it up for me (cause my nails actually need time to dry) I had one girl taking her time and my sis for that matter - had two girls doing her shellac - what's the point, it took us so long afterwards to wait for me to dry! Hey overall its pretty cheap but beware of the service you might receive.

However this does depend on the package you buy. I went for a full massage - deep tissue massage in fact! The customer service was pretty good and the therapist was very attentive to my requirements. The room they ushered me to was almost like a make shift office turned into a massage room. The walls didn't reach the roof which meant you could hear all the conversations being had in the reception. So not as relaxing as I would have hoped. However the massage was very good and relaxing. I would recommend if you want a decent massage. If you're going there for a full day spa experience I would recommend else where. Middle of the road kind of day spa in my opinion.

Treatment timing was really a full body scrub (10mins) , Back Massage (30mins), Essential facial (30 mins) and Pedi (20mins) during the facial. With the extra half an hour just me hanging out wondering if the therapist had forgotten me, shut up shop and headed home. Didn't seam to be air con in the room, when I asked the therapist to adjust the temp. a fan was placed closer to the massage bed. Location is good with parking provided in the busy Newmarket and the products used seamed to be good quality.

It's a relatively small space but they've made the most of it with mani pedi stations downstairs and private therapy rooms upstairs. I don't normally book massages but I had been given a voucher to Spring Day Spa for my birthday and having read the reviews on Yelp, could not wait to use it. Taking Neera J's advice I booked a private room for a 60min massage. My therapist, Alex, was fantastic! I'm often hesitant to ask for deep tissue massages at days spas because most of the time, the pressure is too light but this was not the case here! I left feeling so relaxed - all the tension from my neck, back and shoulders had dissipated. I will most definitely be back! Highly recommend.

A friend recommended this place, the sister spa to East Day Spa (apparently), at a lower price point. The massage was incredible. My therapist was a sweet French woman who was a wonder. Sadly it sounds like she'll be moving on soon, but if you can get in before she leaves, don't hesitate!!! My back feels wonderful!!! The pedicure was also great. Not sure if it's a "thing" here in NZ, but they didn't have any nail driers. So don't do what I did and forget your flip flops and have to wear the cheap throwaways all the way home on the bus (fail). Here's what kept it from 5 star status - the setup is a bit bizarre. If you want a "private" massage it's an extra $20. Otherwise you're in what they call a "pod", where they draw curtains around the table and it's pretty private but there are some pretty significant gaps. Awkward when you're stripping down to your skivvies for the massage. I was able to completely relax once I was in massage mode, but a bit weird because you can hear people chatting right next to you getting their nails done. If that's going to be a problem, splurge for the private space. More of a problem was the smell of nail polish while you're breathing deep into your massage. Icky. They need a bit better ventilation or something. Or keep the spaces separate. That said, as others have commented, the ambiance is nice and chilled out and the music was pretty perfect. I'd go back, and maybe splurge for the private, fume free space.
