One of Shrewsbury's best pubs. No fancy BS. No trying to be the pre night club. Just a good old fashioned pub with some like minded and sometimes quirky individuals. A ton of history here. read more

This public house from the 15th century seemed like potentially a nice venue but my beer Butty Bach wasn't that good and a potentially nice touch like the old clock ticking effect was ruined by the large TV right next to it. Does serve a few ales though. Unusual music kind of like a film soundtrack. read more

The nags head is a proper old-school pub/ auld mans gauf, which gives it an excellent atmosphere. It isn't trendy in any way but in avoiding such things it has become a much appreciated pub for those staying away from such pubs. There is a beer garden, good friendly staff, decent prices and a good chance of meeting someone new at the next table. Worth a visit, even if just on the way into the more popular bars in town. read more

The Nags Head is a nice little pub on Wyle Cop in Shrewsbury. It doesn't have the classiest of interiors but the bar staff and locals are friendly and it tends to attract a few of Shrewsbury's quirkier characters. In the summer, there's a large garden area out the back where you can enjoy a pint or two in the sunshine. There's also a timber framed building at the back which if I remember correctly, is listed and is the first timber framed building in Shrewsbury. Rumour has it it houses a haunted painting but anyone who has ever looked at the painting has promptly committed suicide. It has no bearing on the price of the beer but it makes for an interesting conversation and gives the Nags Head a certain je ne sais quoi. read more

The Nag's Head forms one of the few social cornerstones that Shrewsbury has to offer those aged under 25. This said, the modest sized pub also attracts a eclectic crowd of all ages, from grinning or grumbling (depending on what time of day your in there) beardy old folk to laid back surfer or mountain biking types! Put simply this is all of Shrewsbury's local. During summer the astoundingly large, green and grassy beer garden (aside from the razor wired walls) is often filled with glass clinking revellers enjoying international sporting events shown outdoors on a small television. The Nag's offers one of the best pints of Guiness in Shrewsbury and a modest selection of ales including the ever popular Timothy Taylor's. However, the comparitivley small choice of tipples may frustrate the more fussy drinker and the lack of a premium strength lager is a definate negative. The pub is one of the oldest original buildings in Shrewsbury so don't expect sterile surfaces, 'mood' lighting or a inspired selection of tapas, DO however expect Shrewsbury's best jukebox, colourful characters and a pocketful of change at the end of the night not forgetting a smile on your face! read more

Half way up the historic Wyle Cop in the centre of Shrewsbury. A great old, unspoiled pub with excellent range of real ales and ciders, a friendly atmosphere and a quirky beer garden at the back. Don't bother if you are looking for posh pub food. Pies and pickled onions is all you will get. This pub is all about the beers and the atmosphere. A welcome change to todays themed pubs. read more

Really Lille this pub, good value and the beer garden is to die for but the only downside is the toilets could do with a big refurb

This place zaps my memory! I always remember going but never remember leaving! It's full of like minded fun loving people and that's the way a pub should be. The donkeys years I've been drinking here not once have I ever seen any aggravation, not even when you couldn't squeeze anyone else in and you've just spilt a pint over a short lady whose boyfriend is built like an ox! read more
