Bottom Line: High quality hammocks and outdoor furniture and accessories. I ventured into Nags Head Hammocks' flagship store to get a replacement pole for our sturdy beach umbrella. I must say that Nags Head Hammocks has one of the most, if not the most, enticing storefronts on the entire Outer Banks. Not only is the architecture of the building and the landscaping of the "front yard" attractive, the interior of the store has a wow-factor too. The displays draw you in and they make great use of the vertical space. We've had a Beach Umbrella from Nags Head Hammocks for about 10 years. When the winds kick up and others are having to flip their umbrellas inside out or chase them down the beach ours reliably stays put . . . as it should for almost $300. On our recent beach trip the bottom portion of the umbrella pole broke and while that was disappointing we were glad we could get a replacement part for $25. I would have loved to look around the store but with COVID we were in and out quickly with our replacement pole. Overall, this is a nice store selling high quality outdoor furniture that should last decades. read more

Getting pushed non-stop for a review so here goes. Are you really asking for a review after not responding to my email with my concerns, including a photo of the small links compared to my previous purchase? I have confirmed the misleading claims that Nags Head Hammocks are made in-house. I would return the hammock but don't have the means to do so. I received a response from Pawley's, at least, confirming that The Hammock Store actually owns several of these companies. I can see that it is how it was shipped. Huge regret that I spent so much on this purchase. I also sent a photo of the inferior smaller links and had a response from them initially but then nothing after that. I loved my original cotton rope hammock and wish I had replaced it elsewhere. I don't trust this thin, uncomfortable Durarope and the links don't fit into the hook as well as the previous one and I'm using a standard hammock frame. Show trimmed content read more

I'm very happy with my wind chime purchase. It's a tourist spot, so I was expecting to pay a bit more than I would elsewhere. They had a big selection and were cool with me walking around, jingling them all to see which I liked. The sales woman, I think her name was Annie, was super friendly and helpful and even went to check if they had the chimes I liked in different colors. Also they have a bunch of hammocks and swings setup outside that you can just lay on with your breakfast sandwich, and they're cool even if you don't buy anything. Worth it. read more

The absolute worst ONLINE buying experience ever! 1. I received a confirmation page and email after placing my order. 2. I called a week later only discover that my order was on hold waiting for payment even though my credit card appeared to go through no problem when I placed the order. Would I still be waiting if I didn't call? 3. I gave my card number over the phone. That worked. 4. Three days later I receive a voicemail to let me know they do NOT have the product I ordered and to call back during regular business hours. 5. For the next 2 days I call repeatedly with no answer. I leave 2 voicemails and finally use the Contact form. I get a call back. 6. They only have one rope hammock in stock and it is not even close to the polyester hammock I originally ordered. I would have paid the extra for rope but not $160 to $300 more for their other models. 7. To their credit, I receive a full refund on my credit card 2 days later. So I believe they are honest and probably good people. They just need to improve their operation. read more

Great service! Our old Nags Head hammock (probably 25+ years old) with the original metal tag was in pretty good shape, but had very rusty rings and chains. We were afraid to use it. I took it to the store in the morning and it was repaired by late afternoon. Fast work and friendly service. read more

Sad state of affairs when a customer walks into your establishment wanting to spend hundreds of dollars on your product and no one bothers to greet or assist them the entire time they walk through your store. My husband and children and I ventured into the store and never once did the young man assembling a hammock greet us. I happened upon a window that faced the back parking lot and saw another female employee outside smoking. No one else who was employed there was anywhere to be found. Either they didn't want our money or didn't care. I for one, know where to buy hammocks. It ain't at Nags Head Hammocks, that's for sure. read more

Their "swing" products are horrible! So uncomfortable, TERRIBLE design and their cushions retain a lot of water. They say their water "resistant". Well, some of our cushion was. The other side had bad "stitching" area (8" area) and was seeping with water! I called and wanted a new cushion sent...I sent pictures and videos. They wouldn't send a new cushion, they wanted me to send the whole swing back. Then I was told that the water will find a "low spot" in the cushion and that this was normal. Other words, if it rains every few days, you can't enjoy your swing. So, if you buy one, you can't take the cushion off without taking the whole swing apart. With great pleasure, I sent the whole swing back. Then they deducted $30 from my refund for shipping. I called and asked "why" and they said "only" a refund is issued for shipping if the item had a defect. Well it was defected! They still would not refund me for the return fee. Horrible company, taking advantage of the consumer. We bought another swing with out the BS of the cushion and we love it!!! This company is a joke! read more

Just purchased my 3rd Nags Head hammock. I have one that is around 15 years old, one that is 7 years old, and of course, my newest. I have had nothing but good luck with these hammocks, but I do use reasonable care with them. The spreader bars are revarnished as needed, a simple task that takes an hour every 3-4 years, and I bring them in during the cold months when I am unlikely to use them. I ordered my latest on Wednesday, and received it 2 days later- awesome shipping speed. Emily is a wonderful salesperson, which made the purchase even more pleasant. If one of these ever fail, I'll be back for another from the same store. read more

I went in tonight with my friend to look at the hammocks & such and my friend noticed the coasters were 4 for $12.00 and there was a decorative sign she was interested in listed for $25.00. The cashier went to the back to see if they had any brand new signs but she said that the one on the wall was the last one and the cashier said the sign was priced wrong and the listed price was not correct and that the correct price was $60.00. Then my friend inspected the sign and noticed it was marked up and wasn't in perfect condition so she felt it was not worth $60.00 since it wasn't brand new. The woman then said let me check in the back again and then all of a sudden there was a brand new one in a box. We felt that the store should've honored the listed price because it more then than doubled in price. Since the cashier found a brand new sign she did purchase it for the $60. Also then my friend questioned the coaster price because the total did not sound right- come to find out she was charge 4 for $16.00 instead. The store front was very well-done and welcoming. The staff seemed nice enough also. When you go inside, the "wow-factor" was there...really cool products...hammocks, chairs, tables, etc.. But, when you check the price tag, the "wow-factor" was even greater! They did offer free shipping, but didn't want to blow the vacation budget on a hammock. I'm sure the price appeals to some, and I appreciate a good hammock, but way too expensive for what I felt the product offered. Just my opinion. I did buy 2 drink holders that hang from my hammocks at home...just a braided cord with a koozie in it....$50 for 2....ouch. read more

This was our first visit to Nags Head NC and while driving down the highway we came across Nag Head Hammocks so we decided to stop in and take a look around. There were two very nice and helpful young ladies working in the store that day. They took it upon them selves to show us around and to educate us on hammocks. Because of the helpfulness of these two ladies we purchased a beautiful blue hammock for two with all the necessary accessories to hang it and store it. When our vacation was over and we were back at home one of the first things that we did was hang our new hammock. The quality is fantastic and we are really enjoying it. If you need a hammock I would look at Nags Head Hammock first. The do have a very nice website also but shopping in the store with these two very nice people made it just that much more fun. I purchased a swing in July while on vacation in OBX. After several calls it arrived just over two weeks later in NJ. Unfortunately 1/2 of the swing was the wrong color! Customer service was closed on the weekend- the store rep promised me a call back midday Monday with a resolution. No call, so after three more calls from me the right 1/2 was shipped. I decided to order the cypress stand and springs for my swing. After a conversation with the store clerk by phone confirming there was only one size cypress stand I ordered it online. (There was a savings of 50% on shipping for on-line orders) Only one spring was shipped, another call to customer service to get a 2nd spring. The stand I recieved is very different from the stand listed on-line. The stand I recieved has 4 pieces of Cypress 3/4 inch bent & glued together with a 450 lb capacity. The stand on-line boast 7 pices of bent cypress 3/4 inch with a 500 lbs capacity. Furthermore in the FAQ on line it clearly states a special cypress stand is required for my swing. When I called customer service they told me the only cypress stand they have sold for 20 years is the one I recieved. It seems unlikely I am the first customer who has pointed out the discrepancy between what is recieved and the description on their web-site. I was told they are in the process of updating their web-site. Very poor customer service- I had to continue to make calls to get problems resolved-Poor shipping department not getting things right two times - Very poor misleading info on the web-site, conflicting information- $ 1,300 for a seasonal swing I expect more. Don't purchase any of their wood products. Sales people say they are durable and have several coats of "marine grade" varnish to provide many years of service. That's the reason we bought it. We paid $650 for the hammock swing and in two years it rotted out. Called the company and they said we needed to refinish it every year. Really? Maybe some documentation in the box saying that would have been nice. Most expensive piece of crap I ever bought and worst customer service from a company ever. They offered me a discount to purchase something else from them. What a joke. read more
