My husband and I were vacationing in NOLA 10/'16 when he proposed, and we walked around all day going to different places looking for the perfect ring. Originally, we went to the other Naghi's location which was also incredible, but we ended up with Efi at his other location as our final stop. He was SO courteous and helpful to us. We didn't have the full amount for my dream ring with us, but Efi agreed to set up a payment plan with us for the remaining amount. He was amazing and very understanding throughout the payment process if we were ever short, or late on our monthly payment. He could've taken our money and kept the ring, but instead he stayed in constant contact with us and was very nice. I returned to NOLA in 9/'17 and stopped by to say hi to Efi. A year later and Efi remembered me and asked about my husband by name! My ring had lost one small diamond on the band (a result from sizing it down significantly) and when I showed him, Efi immediately offered to repair it for me. I was just stopping through on my way home though, and wasn't able to leave my ring for repair that day. We are going back to NOLA this year for our one year wedding anniversary and we can't wait to stop by and say hello to Efi again. I decided some months ago to get better acquainted with my new neighbors here in the French Quarter. Happened by chance, to wander into Naghi's at 633 Royal Street. What a treat! First off, this enchanting place has the feel of an old world art emporium or a tiny museum, instead of merely some tourist-y jewelry shop. Mr. Effi Naghi, a wonderful gentleman, looks after customers and art pieces alike with enormous warmth and great pride. He polished my eleven year old wedding band so it looks new as the day hubby Ric and I married! Also a heavy heirloom link bracelet from my late Grandma. I showed him a small pin that had been damaged, lying in a jewelry box for nearly two decades. His restoration brought it back to life, and it was gifted to some friends in Florida, who absolutely loved it. Moreover, he evaluated a ring I had considered selling. Unlike many jewelers who buy gold, his answer surprised me. After carefully examining a re-purposed diamond and gold band I had made for me in New York, he advised me NOT to sell it! Effi appreciated at first glance the meticulous care and attention that went into creating that piece. So, I will be keeping it! Naghi's is a family run business. Assisted by his gracious associate Gladys, customers are assured of a real New Orleans welcome - and treated well! BUYER BEWARE!! I used very poor judgment in purchasing a ring at Naghi's on Canal Street. The price was marked at $2,400 so when I got it for $1,000 I thought I'd really found a bargain. I do like the looks of the ring, but my jeweler in San Francisco said it should have sold for $500. The stones and metal are real, but the quality is not there. Don't let the old guy pressure you and convince you that he is "giving" it to you at the price he comes down to. There are lots of stores with antique jewelry, so look around and use good judgment. read more

Uh, yeah... *anyway*. I walked in to Naghi's as just one of the gazillion shops I was going to visit on Royal st with the mission of finding the perfect engagement ring. Biggie met me as I came in, let me soak in my new environment for a minute or two before offering assistance (I really like this over the bum-rush car salesman approach) and paid attention to what I thought I might be looking for. I am not a rich man and was slightly nervous about spending a grand or more on a ring. He did a great job mixing friendly anecdotes with info about the jewelry and finally suggested an antique ring which I immediately loved. He was easy about bartering which I also liked and after we'd agreed on a number I was offered a cigar! I could've gone up and down Royal st all day but it wasnt necessary. Biggie made the entire experience one that I had confidence in. I came back 5 days later to pay my balance and he kindly waived my taxes even though I couldnt pay with cash (which had been part of our agreed upon deal) *and* followed through by handing me a box of the very same habano wrapped cigar I'd enjoyed before as a gift! As a post script she said yes last night. While she was mewing over her white gold and green amethyst ring she suddenly said "Did you get this at the place on Royal & St Ann? I saw this 3 weeks ago and completely loved it!!!" Thanks again Biggie. read more

I politely let him know of my background with antiquities after his sales pitch and he flipped! He was trying his best to get my credit card in his hands. I let the Nola PD know about his crap and I see he may be out of business - hope so. Gotta realize that not all tourists (especially decent looking women) are idiots - got ya! read more

I have purchased two separate rings from Naghi's and both times I have been more than pleased. Both rings ended up appraising for almost double the agreed upon purchase price (don't be afraid to throw a number out there). I was also very pleased with their prompt sizing of the ring that I asked for as part of the purchase. I make it a point to stop in every time I am in town. read more

Several years ago a couple of friends and I stopped in this shop and were greeted with the worst salesman ever. He was so rude, and pretty much told us if we weren't planning on buying anything to get out. Cut to a few weeks ago on a trip to New Orleans my friend and I ran across the same shop and decided to stop in just to see if that rude man was there. Instead we were greeted by a salesman (I believe his name was Dwayne) and he was the complete polar opposite. We stayed and chatted with him for about 20 mins. He had a beautiful selection of jewelry and even insisted on letting us try some of it on even though he knew good and well we couldn't afford it. He let me try on a $16,000 ring since it was my birthday. It will probably be the only time I'll ever get to wear such an expensive piece of jewelry and he was so kind for letting me have that experience. Even though I'll never buy a $16,000 ring because Im way too cheap for that, I will definitely stop back in and buy a piece of jewelry from him because it is such a beautiful selection and he is such a kind man. read more

Do not waste your time or money. When I initially walked into Naghi's, "Biggie" was the man working. He was wonderful! He was extremely nice and attentive letting me try on different things and making other recommendations based on my interest. We discussed prices, and I asked for his card because I needed to think about spending a large amount of money on a single piece of jewelry. I went back 2 days later, but "Biggie" wasn't there. I dealt with a man named Earl. After negotiating, we agreed on a price and since he didn't have any papers on the item, I asked him if he could put in writing what he was telling me the ring contained. He was guaranteeing me in store credit if the ring wasn't what he said. He wrote down the carats of gem and diamonds but when I asked him to write down it's weight in gold he said, "how about this... This is what we'll do." And he place the ring back inside the case and said, "You're not getting it." Extremely unprofessional. If you can't show me papers and you can't write down what you're telling me the ring contains, then it probably doesn't contain that! They are in a tourist location and taking advantage of it and your wallet! Be careful if you decide to buy from them! You are likely being scammed. You are better off taking your business elsewhere! I was on vacation in NOLA while running into this shop. I went into Naghi's for a Halcyon Days enameled miniature jewel box that caught my eye in the window; cute and unique.--purchased it. I was attended by a lovely woman with a pleasant demeanor, she was no frills and she definitely gave me my space without hounding me; that gave me license to look around and not feel pressured, thank you. I saw a ring that caught my eye, and said my goodbyes with the intent to come back later to look at it. I came back later, purchased my ring: 14k Lapis lazuli with antique filigree with no problem or pressure. My questions were answered truthfully and professionally. I came into this shop with no projections or conjectures. I am extremely satisfied with my purchases, prices paid, and services. If you are a contrarian, naysayer, or always think you are going to be "ripped off," then don't go anywhere. read more

So disappointed. I bought a beautiful ring from this man only to have a side stone fall out a couple days later. When I brought the ring in to be fixed, he said he'd need to send it to mem(we're from out of town). I received the ring back but realiZed the center diamond , which I had looked at with a loupe on purchase, had been switched for a stone with a large flaw. I called naghi immediately and he said he'd fix it if I sent it back. I received the ring back again and the stone had been switched for one with an even larger flaw. Im at the wnd of my rope, which i'm sure is his goal, and just want to be done with the whole ordeal. I'm chalking my lost money up to A learning lesson. This man is as crooked as they come. Looks like the crooks are still there. Purchased what we were told was genuine amethyst charm and bracelet. Bracelet broke less than 24 hours later. No time left in NOLA to go back, so took to my jeweler at home. Found out it was colored quartz. Do not , DO NOT TRUST this place. Lies and more lies. On vacation in the French Quarter (we go every year) we wandered into Naghi's. We were immediately greeted warmly by Biggie. He was very personable and we really enjoyed talking with him. Unbeknownst to me, my man was planning on proposing while we were on our vacation, but didn't have a ring yet. While looking through the case of antique jewelry I saw the most beautiful ring I've ever laid eyes on. A 1 carat canary yellow diamond with 58 little white diamonds, all arranged and crafted beautifully. I was in love, but thought I would never be able to own such a beautiful and expensive piece of jewelry, plus I had no idea that I would soon be receiving a proposal. My man was paying close attention to my reaction of that ring. When he proposed later that evening he told me that he wanted it to be mine. When we went back to Naghi's, Biggie was great about bartering on the price and accepting a down-payment to hold the ring for a month. When we picked it up he gave us all of the certification and a box of cigars as a gift. Our experience with him and the store was very special and memorable. read more
