IN 2013 or 2015 Dr. Pirie gave me a dental implant. Again he did an excellent job. He used my own stem cells for the implant. He went to Italy to learn the operation for dental implants using the patient's own stem cells. Using the patient's own stem cells greatly reduces the risk of infection. In 2013 to 2015, as far as I know most dentists in Rhode Island were using cow stem cells for dental implants. I need a few dental implants now. Again I choose DR. PIRIE for the operation. About 6-8 months after, I felt my gums hadn't looked as I wanted them to and just wasn't overall too happy with the result. So I called back and made an appt. I thought maybe my gums were growing back maybe since my teeth had looked different from the pictures I took right when I got the procedure (once it healed). To note, this was over $5,000 and I still felt guilty saying I wanted it touched up. Dr. Shapiro was nice but she told me they looked fine and charged me $50 for the appointment. I cried the whole way home. 2 years later, I'm looking into getting the procedure again with a different doc which will be another $5,000. While my experience was great the first time, I felt swept to the side when I wanted to go back even though this procedure took me forever to financially recover from. But I felt since it was my smile it mattered and I wanted to love it. Just for others who may be saving for this, make sure you advocate for yourself.

Mia Gooding saw me for an emergency appointment in April 2024 when I was experiencing significant toothache pain. She ignored noticeable swelling on the left side of my face, treated me like I was wasting her time, and dismissed me, saying I had nothing to worry about because the x-ray did not show anything was wrong. Still being in pain, I immediately consulted a real doctor. It was quickly apparent to him that I had a very bad sinus infection, which can present as a toothache and swelling of the face (something Mia Gooding clearly lacks the skills to identify). When I confronted the Gooding office about the major mistake their office made, they simply defended charging for the emergency appointment and said the findings of the exam were irrelevant. They truly could not have cared less. Avoid this practice.

So, I go to his office. When I met Dr. Chung,and sat down on the chair, he came in and just tapped each of my upper teeth, and numbering them, that needed the splinting. It took no more than 1 min. After he finished, I wanted to ask him some question before going through with the Splint procedure. He abruptly interrupted me, and said "You want straight teeth? Yes or No?" Lol, I said yes. "OK, THEN." With a straight and grumpy face. I know it may sound a bit funny. However at the time, I felt disrespected by him, and he was really rude. I don't know what his problem was. I'm the one that's getting the procedure and have to live with it, not him. It's strange though, how my humble orthodontist, recommend me to this rude, incompetent man. He quickly rushed out, and didn't fully answer any of my questions. The whole meeting, was a Quick 2-3 min meet. When I got to the secretary, to schedule the next appointment, they charged me $80 just for a 2-3 min consultation! I have great dental insurance. It should be for free the consultation, in my opinion. Especially, if another doctor recommended me to him. Smdh. Just fyi, I do have dental insurance from my job, working for the state. But my insurance said, it doesn't cover for it because this is considered, a cosmetic. So in the end, I didn't like the experience was a thumbs down.
