The whole staff is warm and very friendly. I've had problems getting pregnant for 14 years and now I am carrying my first child thanks to the care of Dr. Kellum. Not only am I under his care, but now I am under the care of Dr. Alexander; she is also amazing! I truly know that me and my unborn child are in the best care.

It's been nearly a year since I was under the care of Dr. Gabrielle Alexander. I've taken some time…read moreto reflect on this traumatic experience and can now provide you with an objective account of the care I received from her. Dr. Alexander referred me to a Fetal Medicine Specialist, but she failed to review his notes or ultrasound until my visit with her four weeks later. During my initial visit with the fetal medicine specialist, Dr. Justin Brewer, I was not informed of any abnormalities in my abdominal circumference. However, Dr. Alexander has a responsibility to review the notes and ultrasounds when she refers patients to outside providers. Dr. Alexander and Dr. Brewer decided that the best course of action was serial ultrasounds. Neither of them ordered a workup to determine the cause of my low abdominal circumference. A workup could have included a panel to rule out nutritional deficiencies, TORCH infections, or genetic abnormalities. When I asked Dr. Alexander and Dr. Brewer if additional workup should be done, both of them replied no. I asked more than once. My blood pressure was elevated in both my second and third trimesters. When I asked Dr. Alexander about treatment options, she stated that it would mask preeclampsia. However, ACOG strongly advises treating hypertension during pregnancy, even if the mother doesn't have a pre-existing history of hypertension. This is because it reduces the risk of preeclampsia, severe hypertension, stroke, and placental issues. If hypertension is not treated, it can lead to preterm birth, low birth weight, and serious complications for the mother, such as preeclampsia. Tragically, my child was born at 36 weeks, weighed 4 pounds and 14 ounces, and I developed preeclampsia. It's important to note that treating hypertension during pregnancy doesn't change lab results. All Dr. Alexander had to do was treat my blood pressure and order labs for a preeclampsia workup each visit. Dr. Alexander failed to perform amniocentesis during my pregnancy. The American College of Obstetricians and Gynecology recommends amniocentesis for women over 35 and those with abnormal imaging, such as low abdominal circumference. When I expressed concern regarding my lack of weight gain, Dr. Alexander assured me it's fine if I only gain 15 lbs. The recommendation is 20-25 lbs. When I inquired about the possibility of genetic causes, Dr. Alexander replied, "It could be, but we can't treat it as such." My child was born with multiple abnormalities that should have been detected on ultrasound at either Dr. Alexander's or Dr. Brewer's office. However, none of these abnormalities were discussed with me, except for the abdominal circumference. The abnormalities my son was born with include a cyst in the brain, an abnormal heart variation, hydronephrosis of the kidneys, undescended testicles, clubfoot, and a tether cord. I have decided there must be three possible explanations for Dr. Alexander's failure to disclose these abnormalities: intentional dishonesty, outdated ultrasound equipment, or an inability to read ultrasounds. My child was diagnosed with a rare genetic disease after birth that could have been detected in utero. I have commercial insurance, so there was no reason for this substandard, third-world-country healthcare. I advocated for myself and was shut down each time. For your safety and the safety of your unborn child, I recommend avoiding care under Dr. Gabrielle Alexander.

DO NOT GO HERE IF YOU CARE ABOUT YOUR MENTAL HEALTH AT ALL!!!…read more I had two appointments and I will not be back. First, they do not tell you anything. I had no idea I was being subjected to a transvaginal ultrasound & uterine biopsy until they were "get undressed we're doing this. I have extreme anxiety around being touched & being nude as is. I took a whole dose of Ativan and it did NOTHING bc of how stressful the who thing was. I was crying the whole time. I've never had a biopsy before so there was nothing really to tell me about pain or aftercare. Nothing was offered to me for pain at all. I just had to scream it out. Thank goodness for Google! Bc all they told me is that'd I'd spot for a few days & be over. Nope! It took over a week, and all the stress caused me totally skip my period. The whole reason I went is because my HEMATOLOGIST said I needed a hysterectomy because I'm essentially bleeding out all my ferritin stores each month. I've already had 6 total doses of iron infusions from Nov 24 to June 25. I take Geritol (highest iron vitamin) AS WELL AS iron supplements. My periods have always been super heavy and then about 5 years ago slowed down to light for 3 days, then I started having issues with energy, breathing, and tachycardia because my ferritin was totally depleted. After the first two doses I felt amazing! I was doing so much, exercising again etc. then my first cycle after I bled thru a heavy overnight pad, period lined boxers, my pajama shorts, and my sheets. It looked like a murder scene. I also have lupus and hormones aren't an option either. I told this info to THREE people the first visit It was a 2 hour wait my second visit. No bathroom in waiting so my brother held his pee bc they didn't let him back to use a restroom. Then "Dr" Brittney Billsby comes in and is not even looking at me. She has that nose buried in her laptop & you can tell she was a snotty HS athlete that peaked. She can't even find my results. She has to go get them printed. By this time I'm already annoyed bc she's not even really spoke to me. So she tells me everything is fine (yes I know) and then has me REPEAT everything again. DO YOU EVEN READ YOUR PATIENTS' records?? I legit told the NP the prior time I don't want kids, I don't want any hormones that can interact with my lupus, and I am not using an IUD bc I'm not dealing with that trauma ever so many months. This idiot "Doctor" tells me she will do a hysto on "one condition": I lose weight. According to her, bc my bmi is 50 (because I have lupus a lot of the meds I take cause weight gain) they probably can't intubate me correctly so I have to lose weight. First off, wtf??? How does a hospital treat patients in emergency settings if they can't intubate plus size people?? Secondly after a BMI of 30, the issues with intubation stay the same. It's neither better nor worse. I'd need to magically lose 206 lbs to get where she wants. I've not been there since HS! And that was with disordered eating!! So I asked her what am I doing, just footing more iron infusions until I magically weigh less bc I can't exercise with no ferritin (essentially not enough blood). No kidding she goes "well your blood is fine now" no sh*t Sherlock I just told you I had 4 infusions over 2 weeks of June. And I skipped my period. Of course my blood is peachy right now. So her heifer self suggests progesterone. Yanno the one that can help people on menopause at the risk of a lot of cancers. Like breast cancer. What part of no hormones did you not understand??? Breast cancer is SUPER bad in my family & my mom & grandma have fibroids. She smirked at me and says well I can do a clean sweep for you but it might not be safe. What the fudge kinda doctor says that?? I said I want a second opinion and she just keeps on talking over me. Finally she says "so what are we doing" and shuts her overly toothy yap. I told her I'm leaving. Walked out, slammed the door, will not be back. My GP can handle it. I'm not driving two f---ing hours for progesterone and pain! Side note, their office looks like an 80s rich house wife took a dump on it.

Good experience, everything is really ran with efficiency. Nice large waiting room. Thank youread more

MidSouth OBGYN is the building right before you get to the women's hospital, with parking right across the street. There is also a walkway directly to the women's hospital. The front areas and patient rooms are clean and have Wi-Fi access. MidSouth OBGYN does general visits, annual checkups, ultrasounds, labwork, and mammograms. Although the doctor is nice, the staff could be more welcoming.

Easily the worst doctor I have ever seen in my life. I came in for an acute concern. After checking…read morein they had me leave a urine sample. Was never informed of what they did with it. If they ran a pregnancy test or a urinalysis on it they didn't inform me of that or the results. Then I went to have my vitals checked. When it wouldn't read the first time she had me hold my other arm in the air to check it. For anyone not in healthcare this is not a proper way to check it and skews the reading. Big shocker my blood pressure came back high but they didn't bother to recheck it properly. I then waited over a hour to see Dr. Johnson. When she came in she said oh you're here for abnormal bleeding well you've gained weight and this birth control is known to fail (1. I might have gained weight since my previous visit but my weight has been stable well before my gynecological concern started 2. I have been on this birth control for 9 years without issues). She did not ask any history regarding how long, quantity, associated symptoms etc. She also did not preform any type of exam. She then proceeded to list my options were to continue to suffer or try a new birth control and listed all the birth control options and was upset when I didn't immediately choose one. I totally understand now why people don't like doctors and why people think women's health doesn't get enough attention and it's because the women's health doctors don't care. Not to mention she previously hadn't followed the American College of Obstetricians guidelines for cervical cancer screening with Pap smears (likely so she can charge more for each visit). On a nice note the facilities are nice and nursing staff was kind.
