Sadly, all of these doctors are now retired and this surgery has gone into a steady decline, with the exception of 1 or 2 doctors who are reliable, but in normal times, you can never get to see them as they are in such high demand, because nobody wants to see a locum doctor, who is here today, gone tomorrow, for an ongoing health problem that warrants some continuity of care to at least instil some degree of confidence in the patient.
It is extremely hard to get an appointment at this surgery nowadays, and I am talking about normal times, and not during Coronovirus, firstly you have to get an answer to the telephone, then when you do, no matter how often you call, you have to listen to roughly a 3 minute speech telling you what to do in case of emergencies etc, which is necessary, but now we have to listen to what we should be doing as to coronavirus. Wouldn't it be a good idea to divert you to another number for this information, instead of having to listen to it over and over again, even if you ring the surgery 3 times in one day, but surely shouldn't we all know what we should be doing regarding Coronovirus. Just recently, I waited 38 minutes on the phone before I got through to someone who could give me an appointment for blood tests with a nurse. THIS IS NOT ACCEPTABLE! Absolutely not acceptable, especially when you are forced to listen to that dreadful music, if you can call it music. It is a dirge and if you are suffering from depression, which I am sure many people are, this will do them no good at all. If you are wanting an appointment with a doctor, then you run the gauntlet of the dreaded 'old school' receptionists, and I mean those who have been in this practice for nearly as long as I have been going there and taking my 3 children who are all adults now. They show no recognition after all these years of going there when you visit the surgery, and are even worse on the phone. Believe me, if you can get past these 3 little Hitlers, you are a force to be reckoned with.
Just last week I went to collect a script from the Pharmacy and was rather surprised to see that there was an Item missing. This was after the Pharmacist had already given me 3 tablets to tide me over the weekend as they hadn't received the script from Moorlands, even though I had ordered it in good time. I went to the surgery and after quite a lengthy wait, but bearing in mind we are dealing with unprecedented times and she was the only one on, I asked one of the little Hitlers if she would check my order as the Gabapentin was missing. She did and immediately said 'that's because it wasn't ordered'. I assured her I did order them as I clearly remember ticking the Gabapentin then having to custom request my next item. She adamantly told me I hadn't ordered them and cockily printed off the only thing she said I had ordered. I was just as adamant, as I knew I had ordered them, so I asked her if she would have a word with the doctor to see if they would prescribe me some, but her answer to that was a definite NO, which was no surprise. In the end, she said she didn't like being told that she was wrong, although I never used those words, and I told her I didn't like being told I hadn't done something when I knew I had. She almost reluctantly, said she would put the order in. I asked her if she would please mark it urgent as I suffer great pain from a condition and I had run out of tablets. She very reluctantly said she would. Somehow I didn't believe her, so I came straight home and logged on to Moorlands ordering service and explained the situation, that clearly there had been a computer glitch, either with mine, or theirs. After working with computers all of my working life I know this can happen, and would they please make sure this order was given priority as I had no tablets left. I wish I'd told them that they were late sending my script to the chemist, which I should have had by the weekend of Dec 19. This was on Dec 22, so here I am, now on Dec 26 and still no tablets, in terrific pain, and obviously not going to get any until at least Monday. I have just logged on to order something else, and I specifically noted that the Gabapentin were only ordered on Dec 23, too late for me to get them before Christmas. This is just another example of the couldn't care less attitude of SOME of Moorlands staff, especially this particular little Hitler. Not a bit of wonder that this surgery was in SPECIAL MEASURES a few years ago. I do feel sorry for some of the doctors and nurses who give their very best to care for their patients, and some of the newer receptionists who greet everyone with a smile and a greeting. Neither of which I have ever had from the 3 little Hitlers.
