There was paint splatter in the kitchen sink (in a very obvious way that I'm not sure how they missed), paint on trim, and the house was left a mess. They threw garbage into our recycling bin that my husband had to clean out by hand. We spent hours using lacquer thinner to get all of the paint off our white kitchen sink. Oddly enough they also used a lot of our equipment - our painters paper, tray liners and gloves. We did call to mention all of this to the owner and she did say they would come out and clean everything up (which we already did) but it should have never been left like that. My latest project was for multiple drywall and paint repairs in an older home. The painter showed up on time every day, worked diligently and explained everything to me. I had an estimate for $500 from another painter and Florentina came in at $700. During the…read moreestimate, she told me that she was going to have to use two different types of paint to paint over wood and one for metal. During the job, she only used one can of paint but never credited the amount she "claimed" was the reason the estimate was going to be higher. I told her that I had a screen door and a glass door to paint. She gave me the $700 quote, yet on the day that she wrote up the order, she then added on $50 more. While I appreciated her quickness in getting the job done, she verbally gave me a price and told me the extra cans of paint that were going to be needed, then when push came to shove, she didn't use the two types of cans then upcharged me another $50 for a door that I already told her about at our initial meeting. I will not use her again for this.

I approved the job and was told a $500 deposit was required before I could be added to the schedule. I was assured the work would begin the following week. I sent the check, confirmed it was cashed, and waited. Instead of hearing from them, I received an email claiming they had been trying to reach me and that the earliest they could complete the work would be the week of Thanksgiving--over a month later than promised. I requested a refund of my deposit since no work had been done and no supplies had been purchased. It has now been three weeks, and the salesman is still "working on getting me an answer." I've since learned he wrote down my phone number incorrectly, which is why the office couldn't contact me--yet I'm the one left out $500. Thankfully, Dan Derecskey at Valley Painting Company was able to fit me in before we host Thanksgiving, and at a much better price.
