It's really a great way to take in the culture of the city that you're visiting while also familiarizing yourself with the area. We booked the "Grand Tour of Copenhagen" ahead of time to ensure a tour in English for that day. The tour can also be joined last minute depending on availability. The biggest draw is that the actual tour is free. You're just paying the gratuity to your guide at the end of it all. We met our guide at the steps of City Hall. Just look for the guides with bright green umbrellas. I say this because there are other free walking tours that meet up at similar locations within the square. Wayne checked us in and suggested that we take a look around inside City Hall before the start of the tour. It was a great suggestion as we probably wouldn't have seen it otherwise. It was a great introduction! Wayne was very informative throughout the tour. He pointed out things that we wouldn't have noticed right away. We learned about the culture, government, history, and even the language. He taught us all a few basic Danish words to help us with greeting people. He was great! It's a nice short tour that takes up only about 2.5 to 3 hours of your time. The pacing of the walk is perfect. There are cobblestone streets and bike lanes to navigate through, but otherwise it's an easy walk. Our tour ended at Amalienborg Palace. The only thing that would make the tour better is the timing of it. An early morning tour that ends right before the changing of the guard ceremony would be ideal. However, this might not be possible due to the time given after the tour for those with last minute questions or needing recommendations. That's totally understandable. Otherwise, it was time very well spent. Highly recommended!

We chose the two-hour tour, which felt like the perfect balance, not too short and not too long. While it is a bit more expensive than some of the larger boat tours, the experience is much more intimate. With a smaller group, it was easy to ask the captain questions and have meaningful conversations throughout the journey. One of the highlights was a brief stop at a historic military base, where we learned even more about Copenhagen's fascinating history. Along the way, we admired the city's stunning and unique architecture and, of course, made a stop at The Little Mermaid. Our captain, Aske, was one of the best tour guides we've ever had--friendly, entertaining, knowledgeable, and full of great energy. If you're considering a boat tour in Copenhagen, we highly recommend this one. It was an unforgettable experience, and we learned so much about the city. You won't regret it!

The perfect combo of social interactions, enjoying the company and great commentary and guiding. Very comfortable in the boat, we were blessed with a little sunshine so it was perfect. Drinks available to buy if wished and water readily on hand. There was a couple on board who were less interested in the social element but the Texan lady also on the boat was a delight to be with too. Our captain managed the dynamics very well. Easy to book, great comms beforehand and a warm welcome. Highly recommend this great boat ride which gives a wonderful perspective on this lovely city. Great value for money. Thank you HeyCaptain team.

It's a little chaotic purchasing riches because the boarding lines, the ticket lines, and the prepaid ticket people are all in the same area. Lines crisscrossing. It sends like it could be very easy door someone to cut in line, but they seem to think it works for them, so ok. The ride is about 45 minutes to an hour. It really helps having a lively guide because to be honest, there's not that much to see, at least not up close. But there are clever looking buildings, like the one that looks like Tobeleron. There are nearby floating bars and restaurants. And there's even a binge humbling place across the waterway. You get to see the little mermaid statue... but only from the backside!!!

We'd been on boat tours in other cities, and it's usually one of the best things we do. You see things not from the perspective of a motor vehicle on a highway, or a train moving down the track, but rather as people did hundreds of years ago when moving across the sea or through waterways. The seats were ok, not the most comfortable, but not bad. The narration in English was excellent. I could put up many photos and a few videos of tight under-bridge passages, beautiful buildings, interesting boats, and so on. I'll leave that task to others, and keep my review uncluttered. Boat rides are great fun, young or old, no matter the level of fitness. Avoid the heat of the day, maybe aim at the final cruise of the day, and I believe you'll enjoy it.

First tip, book ahead. They will prioritize customers if you've booked so that they have a proper sized group. Second tip, don't go to the last tour of the day. I did that and unfortunately, it was a massive group of more than 50 for the English tour. This made for a less than ideal environment with too many people, too far from the tour guide and a slow progression through the city. I'm sorry to say that I left the group after the third stop. I still have high hopes for Sandemans and will be looking forward to using them when I get to Porto next month.

The tour started from a main attraction and took about 2h30. Our guide was not Danish but he knew a lot of cool and interesting facts about Copenhagen which made this experience much more interesting. If it's your first time in town and you are traveling solo this is a great way to meet people, discover Denmark's capital and main tourist attractions and, of course do some sightseeing. Don't forget to tip your guide accordingly to the experience you had. Their job is unpaid and they live off the tips they make with the tours. Hope Sandemans get to Brazil and other city capitals around the world soon - why not Stockholm guys? ;)

Just returned February from the FDM group tour to South Africa (originating from Copenhagen). This…read moretrip was at the invitation of my long-time Danish friends who heard great things about the South Africa tour from their employee who went the prior year. We were very excited about participating on this trip from the USA for more than 6 months. At my request, they provided an English translation of the day by day itinerary in August (prior to final payment and final trip confirmation in December) that clearly stated that the bus tour would have an English speaking guide. Although they accepted payment for a tour that included 4 non-Danish passport holding tour guests (2 came to the tour from Turkey with Canadian passports) no accommodation was made for the non-English speakers. The Norwegian guide, who had lived in South Africa for some years and lived in NYC for 2 years, spoke perfect English to us when off the bus in casual encounters, but refused to speak English during the bus tour or while giving instructions at hotel check-in's. Can you imagine hours on a bus with a guide who provided apparently entertaining and engaging information in Danish only? We were heartbroken and offended when the guide, supported by emails from FDM's marketing manager, stated that "policy" prevented them from speaking English during this Danish tour. I referred to the Itinerary provided to me and they said this was sent by mistake and it was an internal document which should not have had this wording. Well, that's fine to say after collecting our payments. We were then advised to ask questions of the non-Danish speaking Afrikaner on the bus with us. He did not understand what the guide was saying and how could we ask questions about a country we knew little about and that we paid to learn about through a guided tour. He was pleasant enough but not a guide in any sense of the word. As people of color, my partner and I were dismayed and disappointed in this response, and although the sites and the local people were very kind and hospitable, including the Danes on the tour - many of whom spoke very good English, FDM and the local tour guide Hilde made for a poor memory on what could been the experience of our lifetimes. I strongly suggest that they provide clear wording to non-Danish passport holders of this policy with signature prior to payments. In a country like South Africa known for an system of separation and intentional suppression I found it ironic that Scandinavians would support suppression of information rather than uplifting and enlightening when they had the capability to do so. I wish I could have provided a glowing recommendation of this experience but I frankly feel I deserve a refund. In spite of efforts to address this offline via side discussions and emails, the responses were not satisfactory. One 1/2 day in Cape Town we were provided with a splendid private English speaking guide who was a local. The other days were unfortunately lost in little or no translation. Hilde offered to provide a synopsis in English at the end of the day but I found that an inadequate accommodation. We wanted real-time info like everyone else. Points of interest pointed out at the end of the day is no accommodation- I read in my guide book or the internet while on the bus what I did not get from the paid for guided tour.
