Absolutely an excellent evening of magic happens at Mystique in a surprisingly intimate setting. They have locations across the country. Now that I've been there, I think we're are fortunate to have one in the valley. The staff is exceptional in making people feel welcome. We saw Dave Cox who is famous across the country. They change their entertainers regularly. I'm sure we will be going back. If you're looking to have an evening that has a flair and not hokey, Mystique is one to consider. Honestly, I wasn't expecting much, so what I found at Mystique was a shock and certainly a favorable one. I could see a show like this in Las Vegas. Just remember, it is an evening of magic. I can't tell you what to expect and would not want to. Easy to get to, plenty of parking. and directly across from the Sycamore stop at the rail line. There is no reason to be late because of not finding parking. Also, they hold your tickets until five minutes before closing the door so be early. It's worth taking the time not to be late. What a surprise! I wasn't expecting much from a spot in an office park but WOW. They really went all out on the decor and created a true experience. When you walk in, you check in at the combo concession stand/host. There's not a lot (ie no cocktail bar or nachos) but what's there is well-curated. We'd just eaten dinner so didn't get anything but there were snacks and drinks for all tastes. The show room is ....well....magical! It's arranged to seat 44 people, with a long table lower at the center, and then a higher seating area around that. It's all very dark velvet, candles (flameless), and vintage magic posters. Definitely sets the mood and the chairs are very comfortable! The host takes you in and shows you your seats. The magicians rotate but we saw John Shryock. He did a close up magic act and explained how he loves doing these but few venues work for it. He was fun -- lots of "dad jokes", pretty astounding magic, and clearly loves what he does. It's really cool to have something like this here-- and in a spot with easy, free parking and lots of dining choices nearby. We ate at Mekong before and went back for dessert after. It's always nice when your experience exceeds your expectations. I checked out Mystique: The Magic Experience on a Saturday evening at 9:00 p.m. Though the Yelp listing says it's in Tempe, they moved locations and now they're in Mesa. It's tough to see where they're located from the street, but follow your GPS, and you'll arrive in a shopping center with ample parking. The suite number will bring you to the right place. First off, the ambiance is great. While it doesn't look like much from the outside, once you get inside, you'll see how well decorated it is. The vibe is great with elegance and a dose of mystery and intrigue. Part of what surprised me the most is how intimate of an experience it was: there were 11 people total, including myself, at my showing. Your experience will likely be different than mine because they cycle through magicians every two weeks. The magician performing while I was there has an impressive background, having a show for 15+ years in Vegas at the now-defunct Tropicana hotel. He was phenomenal. He puts on quite the show and many of his tricks are mind-blowing. I participated in two tricks and I have no idea how he did what he did with me. Talk about talent. I won't give away what he does in case you have him too, but be prepared to be amazed. They don't have alcoholic beverages but you can purchase popcorn, snacks, and soft drinks. It was their last show so they gave me some complimentary popcorn and a water. Always a nice touch! The show lasted one hour. Definitely check it out! I bought my tickets through Fever. read more

I am extremely impressed with this venue!! Having been to the Magic Castle in Hollywood many times, this blew me away! The decor is awesome and sets the mood, and the warm up magician in the lobby was amazing, so we were having a great time before we even went in to see the show. Our party was a group of about 10. This was our first time at Mystique. What a fun experience! Jeff Peterson was our magician and he was great. He was so good with the small crowd. Some good magic mixed in with comedy made for a fun night. I would recommend this for small business parties, family outings, date nights. I would say kids 9 and older would have a blast too! They have a little snack bar with bottled water and soda, popcorn, etc. Come early and they have a person (in our case, Chris) doing some close up magic in the lobby while you get snacks and look around the very nicely decorated lobby. I will say the alcohol ticket is kind of confusing and would benefit from clarity on the website. If you bring a bottle of wine, is it $15 per person for the fee or just $15 per bottle? Can you buy that when you get there if you change your mind or just on the website in advance? I highly recommend heading to the area early and grabbing food and drinks at Tipsy Chicken right next to the Hmart. They have fantastic food and a cute little bar. It's walking distance to the magic show. The servers were very nice. In summary, we will be returning with the kiddos for another fun night out and recommending to others! read more

I paid top dollar for VIP seats. I was apparently 3 minutes late according to their ticket scanner, and they sold my seats out from under me. My son and I were seated in the back row. You really can't see the tricks well from there, and I had paid a lot for those tickets. I emailed and described what happened, and said I wanted a refund. They directed me to teeny tiny fine print in the confirmation email where it says your tickets will be released five minutes BEFORE the time on the ticket. That's an insane policy, but whatever, I said fine, then just refund me the (significant) difference between the VIP tickets I paid for and the back row seats I got. I pointed out that they made that money off of someone else when they sold my seats out from under me, so it really didn't hurt them any. They said nope. Unbelievable. What jerks. Show was so-so otherwise. Most of the tricks were pretty textbook stuff, not much new or different from every other small-time show, not much wow factor. A couple of the tricks were pretty cool (out of an hour of tricks). read more

This was an awesome experience. The magician was from Las Vegas and was top notch. Spend the money on the premium seats and get there very early. Like people have been complaining about - if you get there late, you get bumped. Seating is first come - first serve basis. We went early had the closest seats and it was awesome !!! A delightful evening with George Tovar. Astonishing -- my wife and I were sitting three feet from his performance platform (the show was 100% sleight-of-hand, but the room was intimate enough that everyone could see the magic) and we were utterly baffled. The hour flew by, and I think I had a smile on my face the whole time. Considering the prices for live entertainment these days, these shows are a magical bargain before you even walk in the small, mood-setting room, and Frank behind the counter when you walk in will toss out a few tricks to set the stage.
