If you want value for money and hygiene, I'd join somewhere else…read more There are no facilities to wipe down the equipment after you've used it, but the gym have advised that you can wipe it down with a sweat towel. In a gym that's aaaalways busy and with a capacity of over 200 people, I'd like to wipe the kit I'm about to use down before I even touch it and not with my own towel (the gym group have actually advised customers to take their own towels for this purpose) that I'm going to wipe my face with!!! But we can all be satisfied and safe on the company's journey to be carbon neutral whilst swimming in each others sweat! Although there is a large range of equipment, for the money you pay (£30.99 for the basic package), the equipment is undermaintained and lacklustre. The ventilation of the gym is adequate but it appears to be shared with the Turkish restaurant that backs onto it so on some days at around 15:00, you get a treat for the nostrils but for someone that hates the smell of food on their clothes, it's not cool!!! I shouldn't complain about it always being busy as it's a business and it needs customers to survive but I will. The app is good and lets you look in advance how many people are in and maps out the busier times / days so you can avoid those peaks but more often than not, it's pretty rammed. If you can find a locker where the latch isn't broken, do as some of the other self preserving members have done, and keep hold of it by leaving it constantly locked. The gym team will leave little love notes on there threatening to evacuate you and dispose of the contents but don't worry, they never do! The other great thing they do, is they let you use other gyms other than the local one you pay to go to whilst they close to, "freshen the place up" and the amazing thing is that it never looks any cleaner, fresher, and there's no noticeable improvement in the condition of the equipment. For training on a budget, it's alright but I'd put my own personal hygiene and health above saving a few quid and termination of my membership is pending so I can join a gym that will do more than the absolute bare minimum to earn my patronage.

Signing on to this gym was meant to be my stress relief, but it gave me more added stress. When I was signing on, I clearly told the supervisor I only want to be there for 1 month. The beer-bellied supervisor smiles, nods, told me I am being signed for a month contract. He didn't really give me time to read the 2 page contract as he said "I've basically explained everything on the terms and conditions", and gets me to sign it as quick as possible. A month and half later, I get a letter saying I owe another months fee because I am still signed up to the gym! I rang them 5 times in that month, only to be told, they will ring me back, but instead I have been ignored, also been cut off after making me hold the line for a long time. Now they've passed my information on to a debt collecting agency to pay £110, for not paying 2nd month of my contract, plus £30 fine for the delay! (Like all this has stressed them out and I am being fined for it.) Apparently, I had to fill up another form to terminate my contract, which I wasn't told at the beginning when I was only signing up for 1 month! But, they are arguing it says in the contract and its not their fault if I didn't read it, and I should have given 1 month notice! This does not make any sense! Don't get sucked into signing up to this gym. Not worth it. Poor customer care, rude and in the end, they want to sign you up as quick as possible so they can take your money and go off to yap with others and leave you in the deep-end. They are just greedy, sloppy, money-grabbers. If you still want to sign up with this gym, keep your wits about.

Good quality machines and equipment, great spa area. Kid friendly pool, although changing rooms can be a bit cold sometimes after a swim. Cafe area is well stocked with sandwiches, protein drinks etc. Good Starbucks coffee too. You can host a kid's party here if you want. Expensive to get in if you aren't a member, yet maybe that is a good thing. Gets a bit packed around February with all the New Year's resolution crowd. No sports area is only down side. Squash courts would have been good.

Its an easy place to miss with its modest shop front, but when you walk in and down into it's basement, a wide range of free weights and weight machines await you! Its a small local gym that attracts a lot of regulars. everybody is friendly (even if they don't look it when they are towering over you like a mountain of muscle!), but if you start to go there regularly, you will soon learn peoples names and it will feel like home! For me, this does what it says on the tin. Its is nothing fancy, but its a great gym. If you're looking for a fitness first style health club, this isn't for you. but if you just want to push some weights, this is great! it costs around £6 a session for non members, and £4 for members. I was never a member, so I do not know how much membership is, but you must pay a one of £15 intro course if you are a non member.

I came in the next morning and signed up for the week. The other people training in the mornings were Great,Friendly, helpful, and hard trainers.the Morning Manager Andy is Great. After the first week,I signed on for the second week. If you are in the area and want a Great Place to Train ,I HIGHLY RECOMMEND " SQUATS GYM" When I return to visit again I will be back training at SQUATS
