I contacted the Bethesda, MD (US) UP center on mid April 2022. A close friend and lifting partner had done their program a year ago and saw real results with weight loss and muscle gain. He had described the process and the trainer as professionals who focused on your goals with no gimmicks. My intro consult described the same parameters: follow the meal routine faithfully, get enough sleep, drink plenty of water, and work out consistently on form and putting out your best. I was paired up with Zach Rothenberg and I am on my last sessions. I wanted to write a review to express my satisfaction with UP and Zach over the last several weeks. Zach keeps in constant contact with me, checking my progress. He is focused during our sessions and gets me to my limits. He is an excellent trainer! My work schedule has occasionally thrown off my step goals (a necessary must for weight loss) and I've had to re-learn what snacks I can and cannot have (I didn't know that almost everything has carbs and how easy it is for these things to throw off my numbers). I highly recommend the program. I am a true believer that the UP approach to focus so much on nutrition as a core element of your progress is key, coupled with plenty of water, and rest. It is difficult to break old patterns and habits, and you have to start this with the mindset that you want to change and that you can. Some days will not be great, but you can always reset and get back on track. The UP app can use some improvement on how to log meals (I wish we had the option of logging meals on myfitnesspal). After 3 session a week since mid April at 251 lbs and 21%bf, I am down to 232 lbs and 15%bf. The program works. The team is great. read more

I cannot convey enough how brilliant Reid & UP Fitness are. The training, experience & knowledge that Reid has displayed during my time with him has been second to none. Most trainers wouldn't take me on as I'm not your "normal" straight forward client. I have a list of "problematic issues" including a proximal tibia & knee prosthesis, I have a shoulder that requires surgery, osteoporosis, have had 3 major limb saving surgery in the past 18 months (to name but a few). Due to my prosthesis I'm unable to do lengthy cardio work & my shoulder requires careful attention. I'm so pleased to say that Reid has helped me reverse my osteoporosis, increased my overall muscle strength, helped me to believe that these are just obstacles & come up with ways that we can work as a team to reach my goals. Whatever problem we face he comes up with a solution. It's been a long road & he's never given up on me! He's given me the strength & knowledge to be the best that I can be. It's not about what others are doing. The focus is on me & bringing out the best in me & achieving my goals and more! UP equip you both mentally & physically to achieve so much more. You go into this journey expecting to achieve your physical goals but you leave with a Positive can do mind set that filters across everything that you do in life. TL;DR: Their tagline is accurate and if you want results, you're better off here than anywhere else. I hate gyms, in general- I thought I should be clear about that. There's usually someone who'll make you feel bad about your presence there: many who'll make you feel unwelcome; countless more who'll make you feel just plain bad about your [lack of] fitness (you know the places I'm talking about). Ultimate Performance is a game changer. Everyone is on your side. Everyone knows where you've started from; empathises; supports. You're not alone, and the only person who makes you feel bad is yourself, when you know you've done something that affects your training negatively. You are not harangued: you're educated and encouraged. I can (and will, given half a chance) wax lyrical about just how good these guys are (shout out to Gin, my trainer, who has never yet failed to meet my grumpiness and British sarcasm with good humour) and how much this programme is worth it. Seriously, I've bored every one of my friends, so the internet is next. UP is addictive, efficient, and doesn't mess around. The price of entry is high but the results make every penny worth it. You'll work harder than you ever thought you could (or, realistically, wanted to) but three months down the line (or six months, or two years) you'll have forgotten why you were reluctant to sign up. read more

I'm currently a member of Ultimate Performance Mayfair and I want to make it known that my trainer is "world class." To be specific, she takes time and effort to understand your body, it's composition and how to train it accordingly. With these insights she pulls together a program that will push you to the limits and enable change to happen efficiently, effectively and as as quickly as possible. There is no time to waste with her! Why it works? She cuts the noise and gets you to be laser focused and motivates and encourages you when you don't feel your best. She always wants to ensure that you have an impactful and meaningful session and she holds you accountable and keeps you on track and believe me with this much care and dedication to you, there is no doubt you WILL meet your goals! On top of all of this she is just an overall amazing human being, always in a good mood and genuinely interested in you as a person which to me is the icing on the cake :) Oh and she'll go the extra mile to talk to your physio if you need that extra care and attention. I started training with her in October having had another amazing trainer before at the gym who left to start the Mumbai studio and all I can say is that I'm sticking with her for 2020. I'm completely sceptical if not cynical about gyms/foods/plans and "before" and "after" photos showing "dramatic transformations" - however now following working with Emma at Ultimate Performance I am an "after" physique. Crucially, I am now equipped to ensure that that I don't "slip back" The UP process is wholistic and fully engaged. Food, activity, liquid, sleep, stress and gym exercise are all expertly monitored. Bluntly if you are lucky enough to be in a position to afford this programme you are also potentially like me, likely to be time short and operating in dIfferent timezones and having to make accommodation for business and key family commitments. Emma was great at keeping me on the path to a successful transformation - giving me constant feedback and adjustment so that I hit my targets (without adversely impacting the professional/personal life). I would add that whilst the "before" and "after" photos are in many cases mind blowing- the game changer is the biweekly photos and measurements where you could see your incremental progress. I am now, fitter, stronger, mentally tougher and better at my job and my home life. I would add that incremental benefits also include improvements to cardio activity and energy levels generally. After two kids in less than 2 years (with the youngest just 1 years old) coupled with Covid (plus hitting the big 40), I really needed something drastic and really someone to hold me accountable. I have known other people who have done UP (transformation, initially then kept the training going) and I have seen their results (btw all with different trainers than the one I have - so clearly all the trainers are pretty good). I have always loved fitness and worked with trainers on and off and the difference here has been (I) I have never had someone push me as hard during my sessions (II) nor have I had someone hold me so accountable, ie my trainer is in my top 3 of people who communicate with me daily! Not only am I wrapping up my transformation, but I want to continue to work and invest in my own body. UP gave me my confidence back and made me want to be stronger. So, whether it is temporary (just for a transformation) or longer-term (lifestyle thing) - it caters to all. I'm glad I finally took the plunge and started this journey. I never truly believed that I could get significant improvement in just three months. I figured all the ads were cherry-picking the best to sell the service; I'd never get results anywhere close to that. I was happily wrong! After losing 20 pounds on my own, I had plateaued in my efforts to lose more weight. I decided it was worth giving Ultimate a shot for a focused 12 weeks and see what happens. What happened? I lost another 25 pounds! As a trainer, Robb M was a perfect fit for me. He kept me accountable and pushed my limits with the right balance between results and health. He was able to adjust the exercises based on how my body was feeling each day. He'd also adapt to challenge new muscles and probably to keep me from getting bored with them. In the past, I've gotten bored with repeated workouts and start falling off on going to the gym. Robb never even came close to letting that happen. The decision to start my transformation with UP Mayfair was not easy. Was it a 'normal gym', 'are the results real' were my two key concerns. Researching Nick Mitchell and understanding his ethos was a key factor in me taking the plunge. Since attending my initial consultation, to now been 6 weeks into my transformation I can honestly it has changed my life. Strong words, but when you are in the process you will understand. Been training for several years at UP Mayfair. And i highly recommend it. The first training programme was great and i went through a real transformation. This was not obvious, as despite going to the gym regularly before and dieting on a regular basis, i never managed to keep any long term commitment and was just able to maintain. With a first three months programme i saw a real change. My body weight dropped, my stamina improved massively, i slept better, and my back problems were gone. I felt in a better shape than in my twenties! Over the following years, i maintained a regular training at UP in order to keep in shape. Most of the benefits of my first year are still there, despite a hectic work life balance. I am now training more regularly again in order to get to the next level. I have had several trainers and have been very happy with each of them. They always managed to be flexible enough to adapt to my schedule, which is one of the reasons i chose UP. I have been at UP Mayfair since early 2018. For me it's been a life changing choice to start the program having delivered results I hadn't even got close to in the past 20 years despite trying many times. I lost over 50kgs and built muscle definition over an 8/9 month period. I started my program with Emma at Ultimate Performance slightly over 2 months ago. It's not an exaggeration to say the program has changed my life. In my experience, other training programs I had tried before just didnt 1) connect all the dots between food, nutrition, exercise and technique and 2) marry that in an app where you are in constant dialogue with your trainer who is looking out for you to keep you motivated and course correct when you are straying. Having worked with Craig (Smith) for many weeks now the results speak for themselves. His ability to encourage and motivate me has been a game changer, instead of finding an excuse to exercise, I now look forward to the weekly sessions. I wish I visited this gym much sooner in my life as it was the best thing I have ever done. You get a tailor made program for your targets and you will see the results almost immediately. All the trainers are extremely friendly and most importantly supportive and they make you feel part of the family. Emma Kershaw (my PT) provided me a training and nutritional program which not only fitted my physical goals but also greatly improved my heart condition. I have trained for many years in different gyms around the world but nothing compares to UP London. The facilities may not be "fancy" (especially the changing rooms which are a little miserable) but the energy and the vibe is certainly no BS and everyone there is serious about their fitness and their training. The trainers are not only extremely knowledgeable when it comes to fitness training, but also with nutrition and wellness in general. Equally important was their ability to tailor the program to suit the needs of their client. Last year my goal was to reach single digit body fat % and I did it successfully with them. This year it was muscle mass gains and I also did it with them. I've been training at the new UP gym since it opened in late November 2011. I cannot speak highly enough of the friendly team who made me feel very welcome, but have also pushed me to places I didn't ever think I could go! When I met Tom to discuss what I wanted from personal training I didn't give the clearest of goals, but with my trainer Peter I have become so much more aware of my body, of what I can do, and now I have some real goals. I want to turn my four pack (that started as a small beer barrel) into a 6 pack before the summer arrives! This isn't a cheap place, but they are supposed to be the best, it was actually my old personal trainer who told me to go see UP in the first place. I cannot speak highly enough of the trainers at UP Mayfair, especially my trainer Gintaras. He is very knowledgeable and a fantastic motivator. All of the team are friendly, encouraging and supportive which I believe makes this place very unique. I am 8 weeks into my 12 week programme and I couldn't be happier with the progress I have already made. Not only is the weight dropping, I have more energy, my sleep has massively improved and I never feel hungry! I've worked with Zach Rothenberg at UP Bethesda, MD for the past 3 months and he and UP have been instrumental in getting me back in shape - probably the best shape of my adult life. What differentiates UP from other gyms is the trainers attention to detail, uncluttered environment and most importantly accountability. Zach always reached out to ensure I was keeping on track with my meal plans. With UP I've been able to not only develop proper form for weight lifting but also my outlook on meals is changed and I'm more cognizant of the macros that I take in. In my whole time of using gyms and personal trainers this is hands down the best service I have ever received. The trainers are incredibly knowledgeable and professional which you can tell as soon as you have your first consultation. As a female I was initally sceptical that it could be a male dominated environment however I felt at ease immediately with a number of other ladies utilising the amazing facilities. My trainer has shown real encouragement and genuine care over the past 14 weeks which is really appreciated with the challenging plan.
