After many days of wait, finally went there with family. First impression, the location is perfect. While driving by, it looks good place to eat. Parking is a bit tight. most of the time have to park on the side roads. Being next the KMS spares parts and RadioXL, it won't be good idea to park on their allocated space as you most likely to get clamped, so advise is to park on the side road if there is no space for restaurant parking.
Now to the welcome, was greeted by smiling staff, good impression. the deco is good, nothing fancy but something advanced fish and chippy like place.
Young day staff looked less interactive with the customers, the main guy who was taking the orders was a bit YALLA, he didn't even knew where is his Chef's from, i.e. if you are going to a place which emphasises on LAHORE being my Lahore, I was expecting some punjabi chef's with authentic touch of cooking skills, but the order taking guy had no clue where are the chef's from, his answer was, they are from different parts of Pakistan... really? I mean come on. okay fair enough, maybe there are less Lahori's in Birmingham and more Dadyali's, :-P
okay so now we waiting for the food. We ordered, Keema Chips, Meat Lasagne, Mixed vegetables as side, Beef steak, and King prawns.
as can be seen from the pictures, the presentation obviously looks very good. I wanted to dive straight into the food to enjoy the taste of Lahore, but wait.. .what is that... it does not taste like Lahore food. Okay so upon enquiring the food's quality, the answer we got is that, because this is British Asian Cuisine, okay, so what is British Asian Cuisine have to do with My Lahore?
I mean come on, Lahore is Lahore, people who have eaten in Lahore and have grown up with the authentic taste of Punjabi food, they will not class the food from myLahore as authentic Lahori food.
The beef steak did not taste like a steak, it was dry and bland. Keema with chips, nothing special, I can make better myself. I have no comment about Meat Lasagne, I would say, just don't bother with it.
The only thing we agreed was good was, King Prawn, it was yummy. The sauces we got with the popadom, tasted like made a week ago, The onion chutney to go with popadom, smelly.
The only thing we really enjoyed was, the authentic taste of sprite and coca cola, as that was served in original glass bottles, wow what a relief. Something authentic is there atleast.
My overall feedback. This place is not for authentic Punjabi people. This is for the new generation of BRITISH ASIANS who have not tasted original food as it meant to be from back home. so I see why this place was so busy, as people must have tasted something different from typical bland food quality available in Birmingham.
First visit is last visit here for me and my family.
Having said all that, The staff was kind enough to listen to our negative feedback and they were happy to relay the message to the kitchen staff for future improvements. But for me I am not going back.
Anyone who wants to experience and waste their time and money , please do try it for the sake of it. BUT NOT RECOMMENDED. read more
