I have a hard time finding fragrances and candles that don't give me a terrible headache, but…read moreOnata's fragrances have proved me wrong. I first learned about Onata while attending an art market in Houston, where the owners were there selling the candles. The amazing smells of the candles quickly drew me in, and I couldn't leave without buying one of their travel sized candles. I went for the "Isra" scent, and I cannot speak highly enough of it! The owner explained to me that she had gone through trial and error, finding fragrances that are strong enough to fill your home, but gentle enough to not cause headaches or migraines. She was right -- this small candle has filled my office with a sweet, cozy smell for days and no headaches (for once!). I love that they are made entirely of soy and have all-cotton wicks, making them a more natural alternative to what you buy at a store. I am already planning on when I can stop by their shop again to buy a bigger size of the "Isra" and other choices they had available! Support small businesses and support Onata!

I first met the candle company by going to the Esplanade Farmer's Market and meeting the owner. His hustle is awesome. He's charming and really knows how to work the magic of his scents. It's great to have a local business instead of paying all of this ridiculous markup money to a fancy store to get something commercially diluted. Really outstanding. If you need a gift, or just want a "house scent", you won't be disappointed.

We dropped in for Workshop Wednesday and made the Salt, Soak & Bath Tea from 1-5 p.m. There was plenty of parking, and we were warmly welcomed by Ava and Lacie. The atmosphere was inviting, relaxing, and exceptionally clean. They did a wonderful job explaining the process, from choosing our salts, scents, and blends to creating our own custom bath salts. We then added herbs and other ingredients to make a soothing bath tea. We even had the chance to meet the owner, Christina, when we finished. She was so friendly and invited us to come back for a special event. We had such a great time that we'll definitely be back!

This was the weirdest most condescending candle experience I've ever had. In old town spring (some…read moresmall area with eateries and shops) tucked away a bit from the road is a small shack. Once you enter it's just one room filled from bottom to top with candles. The owner came out of nowhere after we entered and started talking to us about his candle choices. He had a lot of judgement to give us including how he doesn't use soy candles because they car carcinogenic, and how often people burn their candles wrong and burn their wax wrong. He even tried to give me a paper showing me how to burn my candles saying it was a crime that no other candle shops ever tell their customers how to burn candles. I get that he wants to educate people but when trying to sell product to someone seems like a very strange way to do that. Maybe he should sneak one of these informationals into a gift bag when people purchase. At the very least he needs to stop asking how people burn their candles, then judgmentally telling them that's the wrong way to burn candles, then giving them a flyer on how to do it right. However he did have some rather small candles which he claimed burned for 14 hours or so which if true would be great quality. I did not buy due to the condescension so I cannot attest. Some of the product was very oily and he noted that they were not selling so he's been discounting them just to move product.

So you may be wondering like I did for the longest time--what's a yoni steam???? I will leave that…read morepart to Google to inform you specifically, but it is a session where you lady parts get steamed in lamest terms for various benefits! I wasn't convinced after I found out what it was. I mean steam can do alot of things but. . .okay I'll digress here-just Google it! Despite my skepticism, I became interested in trying it out because some friends of mine who discovered what it was for themselves raved about it. I decided to find out personally just to try something different. I turned to Groupon on this occasion and discovered Soul. It was actually a place one of my friend's came to, so I felt confident about the services I'd receive. I came prepared for the after effects of a yoni steam (you can Google that as well), but I brought my own headphones just in case background noise was a little loud. Glad I did because there wasn't any music playing during my session, so I played my own during the steam. Plus the other session that was being done with a client could be heard through the door, so I just turned my headphones up and tried to relax. You're given a robe to wear while you get steamed which lasts 30 minutes and you're out. To be quite honest, I didn't notice anything different or purged the day of the session, but the next day into the rest of the week, I noticed that my skin was so clear and I had more energy! I waited a month to write this review because...and hopefully this is not TMI for you Yelpers, but it's the selling point- my cycle was waaaaay lighter this month! Based on my health concerns, it was suggested I have a steam twice a month, but I am game to do it at least once a month because I did see some benefits after just one session. If you're looking to do something different as well as add healthy habits and regiments to your health and wellness, this is a great start. Highly recommend!
