Been coming here on-and-off and it still hasn't changed much. Their service staff are nice people, but the overall efficiency is terrible. Firstly they don't open on time which is supposedly to be 8am M-F. 8:20 someone arrived to only open up shop... hmm. On the Brightside the place is clean, has a comfy waiting area with coffee machines, t.v., etc. Their prices are somewhat reasonable...I know it's a mechanic lol read more

Simply put. These guys are liars. With over 10 years experience in the automotive industry. I can confidently say that they are non honest and just want to "up-sell" their customers. The money paid was for safety inspection but it would have been put to better use if I simply lit it on fire. I asked for them to provide evidence of their claims but was unpleasant surprised when I saw that nothing was wrong with my vehicle. Terrible...Just terrible.... read more

My Mechanic Auto & Tire Centre - Auto Repair Near Me - Markham, Ontario

The Ellesmere location.....Not professional. Poor communication. After holding my vehicle hostage for almost 2 weeks, they refused to refund me for something that remained unfixed. Had to bring the vehicle to another mechanic. They probably screwed it up more by messing with it. Unless you're going for an oil change or tire changeover, I wouldn't give them the time of day. This location seems to change ownership every couple of years, so there are probably deeper issues. They are understaffed and their website mentions hiring people. Never again....... read more

I came here to get a simple oil change. As I left my car here I waited in the waiting room. I patiently waited 30 minutes and was wondering what was going on since an oil change takes around 20 minutes or less at a professional shop. The owner comes back out and tells me my break pads are leaking and they are legally not allowed to let me drive my car. I would have to leave my car overnight and printed a quote of 900 dollars. I then asked help from another mechanic to come over and prove them all wrong. The owner was furious as he returned my car keys. I quickly left after paying for an oil change and would never come back. Please do not bring your car here. The people in this shop are all scammers and are out to milk as much money they possibly can from people who do not know much about cars. read more

COME HERE AT YOUR OWN RISK. My mom changed her winter tires last November. They moved all the tires all wrapped and taped up in the bags, into the car. We come back to change them to realize there were 4 MISSING HUBCAPS. How is that I could lose 4 brand new hubcaps? We are not scumbags like them who would lie about these things. Brand new 2015 real Toyota Corolla hubcaps missing. We go in 3 times to talk to the manager and they were NO HELP. NEVER COME BACK. read more

You'd think most of these reviews were written on or about October 17, 2018! Anyway, got here promptly @ 8A and was met by a very cordial and friendly employee. Arrived with a flat tire and left, happily, 45 minutes later w/ a fixed tire. Waited longer than anticipated, but it was due it being a one man show. Mechanic was out, so the "Jack of all" not only wrote up work order, answered phones, but performed the work itself. Bonus is the comfortable waiting room w/ cozy leather chairs and Van Houtte coffee machine. Oh, and TV. I almost didn't leave!!! read more

We didn't come here for any service work. My daughter and I happened to stop by while they were having a BBQ. The folks were friendly and I'm sure when they work on your car they too will be friendly. Check these guys out. read more

I went to the establishment for an oil change and declined the 30 point courtesy check to save time as I was trying make a dinner appointment. I asked when it would be done by and they said "45 Minutes." I arrived at 6:30 pm as it is stated on my work order sheet and the work was promised for 7:00 pm. I waited and my car was not put on the lift until 7:30pm. I left for dinner across the street, came back at 8:00pm to speak to the mechanic and he mentions to me that he cannot release the vehicle because my left rear brakes was leaking brake fluid and it was deemed unsafe to drive. He states I have two options. I can either keep it over night and they can order the part to fix it on his premise or I call a tow truck to get it towed. He could not legally let me drive it out of the property in case I got into an accident. I had told two people in the front desk not to do ANYTHING besides the oil change and they did not follow through with that order. Then to tell me I cannot leave with my vehicle unless I pay out of my pocket to get it towed. From a $20 oil change to this whole commotion that lasted until 10:00pm. It is not right on principle and legal grounds that they held me hostage in their premise without being able to access my car on simply a judgement call that a mechanic made. I lived literally 2 minutes from the mechanic shop and told them I could drive it home because it was ridiculous for me to pay 60-70 dollars to have it towed but they would not cooperate with me. I have been driving the car with no problem on my breaks. I think as a car owner if I had any problems with my breaks I would gladly go fix it because breaks are a safety issue I was treated unfairly by 3 individuals who decided to team up and take advantage of a customer who does not know much about fixing a car. I called the police but they said they could not show up until midnight because it was not an emergency so that did not help. At the end I ended up calling the tow truck and paid 48.45 for the oil change and engine oil flush. They did not try to do anything to resolve this issue with me but telling me that they can order the part in and have it done possibly the next day because they were closing or call a tow truck. How can you corner in your customer into a decision that might cost them hundreds of dollars on something that they did not get the permission to do in the first place. I was so frustrated because I am not the type to argue and make a big deal in public. They clearly took advantage of my passiveness and I think also me being 24 years old made me look like a fool waiting to be taken advantage of. So STAY AWAY PEOPLE. GO TO ANOTHER PLACE! read more

Honestly, I hate doing reviews, because frankly, if I need to write a review someone must have been extremely good at what they did, or extremely bad at what they did. If they're extremely good, I would rather reward them by calling head office or speaking to the owner... But in this case... I had my pops take in my car for a routine oil change while I was out of town. It was supposed to be a straightforward task. They apparently insisted on a "30-point inspection". What a disaster. They told my pops that the ball joints were in rough shape and needed replacing. I knew that this problem existed, but wanted my own mechanic to take care of it. Instead, they told my pops that he would not be allowed to take my vehicle off the premises if he insisted on not doing the work. After speaking to him over the phone, I told him to let them do the work. I asked how much parts were, but neglected to ask about the labour. They charged me $311 for parts, which made good sense and was fair for the ball joints and stabilizer bar links. My dad left the car, got a ride home, and went back that night to pick the car up. To his dismay, the total was just under $1100. That's correct, they charged me close to $800 in LABOUR! For work that should have taken two hours, they indicated to me that they spent 2.5 hours on each ball joint, and spent another hour on the stabilizer bar links. One thing became clear... they either didn't know what they were doing, or they were taking my old man for a fool. To boot, they charge $100/hr for labour... Unbelievable! He paid so they would release the car, but told them I would be in to discuss. When I phoned them, I noticed on the invoice that for the oil change, they had only filled up 5L of oil on a 6L engine... Another screw up. Finally we agreed that they would do a transmission flush for me for free to even out the pricing, plus one more future job. It was the best I could get out of them, explaining to them in great length I'm not their typical clientele who they can take advantage of (I watched them do this during my three hour wait). I took the car in today for the transmission flush. The agreement was to drop the pan, change the filter, flush, and top up the fluid. Instead, I watched as they extracted the fluid and simply topped it up. When I asked why, he insisted that this is how it is done, and I am talking about a completely separate job! Unbelievable!! While I was there, I watched as they brought in person after person and told them they needed additional work done on their vehicles, and in some cases were told they could not leave without doing it. In addition, I heard at least one instance where they quoted a different price to different individuals for a generic service (tire storage). My advice, if you're looking for a consistent place that isn't going to want to take advantage of you as a consumer, go somewhere with a personal reference. This way at least you know that they are going to want to impress your reference. STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE MY FRIENDS! read more

Absolute cons! Lives up to the role of the dirty mechanic and then some. Girlfriend went in for an oil change, and they told her brake, fluids, and everything else they could think of needed to be fixed. Charged for premium parts and premium labour. If you must go there, whatever they tell you, hold off and get a second opinion first. read more

Location at Markham and Steeles are not honest. They gave me a good price but did inferior work and supplied me with inferior parts I guess because I'm a female! I was shocked that they would do that and not give me an option like other mechanics have. Manufacturer parts or off the market...nope they told me nothing!! I am not sure if it was on purpose but a month later when I took it to get an oil change elsewhere they noticed a few things loose and tightened them and told me if not done could have contributed to other problems!! So I guess what they do is tell you what needs to be done right away and what can wait, I guess they loosen or tamper with needs to be done later so that you return soon and they give you the "I told you so". My car was crappy and not much life in it but if it was a newer car and they tampered with it just to get business they are SICK!!! and DANGEROUS!!! I would never visit that location or recommend it to anyone. If they give you a quote get a second opinion!! read more

Asked for an inquiry about my car, the owner asked for 60 dollars to even talk to me about anything related to my car. I then asked how much a manual transmission oil change was, they asked for 129.99 when dealership charges 110 dollars. I shook my head and walked away. As I was walking away the owner runs out and screams 20 dollars in a heavy Indian accent. Assuming it was 20 dollars to "inspect" my car, other mechanics do that kind of service for free. I do not recommend this place ever. Owners seem extremely desperate for money, I would consider this shop extremely risky to leave your car at. If you are someone who truly cares about your car avoid this shop as much as you can. read more

Service is terrible. Over priced in everything. I was told that if i wanted to put on aftermarket springs and struts it would be $300 EACH WHEEL. They try to up sell/scam you in everything. They wont prioritize you for things such as an oil change if you're not spending over $200. Ended up going to the place next door and whats treated well. read more

Just to provide some general comments on the review (although I have not have had my vehicle serviced at this location), obviously this establishment provided the customer with options based on your comments which as per good practice to has been followed which should be also be done by all vehicle repair establishments: 1. to have the vehicle repaired, 2: to have the vehicle towed out as it was deemed to be unsafe to be driven. If your vehicle is unsafe to be driven you are a danger to other drivers on the road and yourself (not any different than drinking and driving) and your vehicle does not belong on the road. I'm not trying to support either one of you here, but its numerous accidents occur due to unsafe vehicles on the road. Yes, you may have declined an inspection, but once the hood is opened, it would be very obvious if any one of your fluid levels are low, so in reality the establishment made you aware of the unsafe vehicle rather than you finding out the hard way. Not reporting a problem to a customer that is very obvious and that is clearly a safety issue is considered professional negligence and misconduct of the establishment which could be held against them. In my opinion they have carried out their due diligence and now you have to carry out your part by having your vehicle repaired at repair establishment of your choice. Any establishment will make recommendations in terms of other repairs that may be required to your vehicle other than what you came in for just like you did your engine flush as per your comments. From my experience going to different car repair shops, they have always recommended services other than what i came in for, its part of their job and you have to make the judgment if you want to carry out the services/repairs at that time or if you would have them taken care of elsewhere at a later time provided that the repairs required is not a safety issue and does not form a hazard on the road. As long as these required/suggested repairs and/or services are explained to you and you understand the repairs/services to be carried out and authorize them to proceed with the repairs, there's no issues with it, however should any of these repairs that are to be carried out be a safety issue than repairs should be carried out immediately or otherwise your vehicle being towed to a repairs shop of your choice. I'm being neutral by giving it a 3 star, but would update it after I've had my personal experience at this establishment. read more

I had a similar experience ,they use a cheap oil change price, just to fish you in,and try to rip you off, don't go there at all, otherwise you will end up pay more and wasting time,if I can rate it with no star,I will! read more

I had the worst experience with this mechanic shop the other day and I strongly recommend avoiding it. I had to have my vehicle towed because of a broken outer tie rod on the passengers side. The 'customer service' associates saw an opportunity to take advantage of my female gender and thus began to convince me to change the outer, and inner tie rods on both sides of my vehicle, my front and rear brakes, as well as to perform a brake flush and power steering flush and fix the alignment of my car. Overall a repair that should have cost $120 amounted to $1600 after all the recommended repairs. At a disadvantage, I was uncertain of how my vehicle functioned so I took it upon myself to call my husband to the garage. upon arrival my husband checked our vehicle and denied the recommendations the 'customer service' associates had made. They completed the initial outer tie rod repair on the passengers side, to our satisfaction, for a total of $145. Our vehicle functioned perfectly well after that single repair. To all of you out there avoid this shop at all costs, the associates will size you up once you walk into the shop and use every opportunity to take advantage of you. read more
