melissa has been my la hidden gem for the past 4 years. i've been seeing her for monthly facials for the past 4 years and through her facials and product regime recommendation my skin is clearer and more radiant then ever. i notice my once dehydrated textured skin now looks like glass and i'm so grateful to have found her years ago! i did my first peel recently - the Vi Peel precision plus peptides and loved the result. she walked me through the entire process prior and during the appointment and checked in with me along the way. i was nervous about peels due to how sensitive my skin can be, but wow what a result. the picture above is on day 3 when i began peeling around my mouth and the same peeling happened to my face between days 3-5. it's been a few weeks since my peel and my complexion feels more even, my skin feels more plump, and i've been complimented many times on my skin glowing again and again. i now plan to do the same peel once every few months, i'm in love! melissa is really knowledgeable about skin, caring to her clients, and her space is clean and inviting. i couldn't recommend her more! read more

Umm hello! Melissa is the absolute best there ever is! She's passionate about her work and gives you more than 100%. Hit my year anniversary with her and my journey has been amazing. Of course, with my acne prone skin I am still going to have minor breakouts but that's user error, nothing to do with Melissa. She actually gives you advice on how you should be healing those issues from within. Love love love Melissa appointments! read more

Melissa is so kind! She takes great care of her clients, and you can tell how much she cares about them. I have been struggling with some hormonal acne, and her facials have been very helpful! read more

I have been getting facials from Melissa for the past 5-6 years with a periodic peel here and there, when needed. She is the ultimate professional - friendly, thorough and maintains a clean, modern work space with top of the line products and modern technologies. She comes from the Beverly Hills dermatology world so she's very, very experienced. Melissa is the only aesthetician who doesn't leave my face looking bruised and beaten up after some serious extractions. I have acne-prone skin and after each cleaning, my face is smooth with minimal redness despite the extractions and I can actually go out into public without worrying that I look like I had been worked on. I have very sensitive skin (and am allergic to many chemicals) and Melissa's products have never caused any adverse reactions. In fact, after learning of my skin sensitivities, she went out of her way many times to recommend products I can pick up at Whole Foods or online that can help (and they have). She will text and check on me after facials to see how I'm doing. Melissa has access to a medical consultant in dermatology and will direct me to information and resources from this consultant - free of charge! And mind you my skin issues aren't on my face. They're primarily on my hands and she goes above and beyond because she genuinely cares and wants to help. I just had a facial about a week ago and a few days later, a problem I had a dermatologist treat with a cortisone injection before the facial re-emerged. I wanted to attempt an extraction and Melissa squeezed me (no pun intended) in at the end of her hours, took care of it and refused to accept any compensation for it! I felt bad and we had back and forth about it on my way out and she simply refused to accept any money despite staying a half hour beyond her last scheduled appointment, not to mention having added me with just a few hours' notice. I can't say enough good things. I'm pretty sensitive about skin and tend to feel vulnerable whenever anyone works on it but I know I'm in the best of hands with Melissa. read more

Melissa performed a peel which burned my skin and left me with scarring. My face was not properly cleansed and I did notice this when my skin was being wiped with the acetone towelette and makeup was still coming off onto it but she completely ignored it. She was in complete denial about the burn The peel caused but kept referring me to products and after care that would only be used on burned skin like antibiotics. She is not careful when prepping the skin prior to treatment and rushes. It is obvious that money is her first concern not the treatment or patient. The 5 star reviews make no sense I have met aestheticians far better than her. Update: Melissa assured me she would refund me what I paid for the peel since it was a complete disaster, she confirmed she would be sending a check since I paid with a visa. I contacted her to get an update on the status of the check and she never responded so I decided to give her a call the next day and she did not answer. I still have not received my check or a response from her. read more

My skin gets better with each visit! Plus Melissa is genuinely the sweetest. Always answers all my questions and is incredibly accommodating. Her vast knowledge within this field is evident, and she is always able to provide me with suggestions for products to use in accordance with my skin type. Her office is impeccably clean and cozy as well, and I always leave with glowy skin. By far my favorite place for a facial, my skin begins to clear immediately post-appointment. read more

Melissa has magic hands. She's the only estie I've seen that's been able to clear up my skin. I adore her and she really cares about her clients. I saw her a week ago and her studio was immaculate. She screened me prior to my appointment and took my temperature. When I arrived we went straight to the bathroom to wash hands to ensure I was not bringing anything into her sanitized studio. With everything going on, it's great to be able to unwind and have her work her magic without any worries. If you have skin goals, RUN to Melissa read more

A few days after I posted this review I received a very apologetic voice mail from Melissa. Seriously, it one of the nicest voice mails I have ever received. Melissa apologized that I wasn't happy with the service, that I felt rushed, and that there was confusion over the pricing. She even offered to fully refund me and to give me a free service of my choosing if I would give her a second chance. After calling Melissa back we agreed that she would send me a refund for the $75 I hadn't expected to pay instead of the entire amount of the facial (she did, after all, provide me with a facial and I don't believe that Yelp should be a forum to get free stuff!). She followed up with a text to make sure I received the check and again asked me to come back for another appointment on her. Honestly, Melissa could not have remedied the situation any better and I appreciate her going above and beyond. read more

Melissa is the best! I have been getting facials from her for 9 months now, and I would not trust anyone else with my skin. I had terrible cystic acne before I started seeing Melissa and she really was very thorough with my skin and has given me great skincare advice and recommendations since i have been seeing her. She's very experienced and knowledgeable about how to deal with different skin types, and would highly recommend her for anyone with acne-prone skin. I underwent the VI peel with her twice so far and the results have been amazing. Melissa has been extremely patient and accommodating of my busy schedule, and always has her clients' best interests in mind. She is truly one of a kind! read more

Melissa is a life saver!!! Last winter I was having an insane amount of trouble with my skin; I was breaking out in every inch of my face. I wouldn't go outside because I was so embarrassed of my skin and it felt like everyone was staring at me. My dermatologist, Meira Leeds, put me on a new skin regimen and recommended I get weekly facials with Melissa. At first I was nervous that the extractions would hurt, but Melissa was speedy and gentle. I felt that she really cared about the well being of my skin which made the experience 100x better. After about two months of weekly facials, my skin was not only back to normal, but it was better than it had ever been before!! Melissa truly saved my life and made me feel more confident than ever! 10/10 recommending to everyone I know!!! read more

My LA Face - BEFORE and AFTER photos from just two month of seeing Melissa! She is a life saver!!! - Skin Care Near Me - Los Angeles, California

Melissa and her facials and products are the best.. hands down! I've been going to her off/on for maybe 8 years or so, but fell off the last couple years (my fault) I just recently returned and had to do a deep-dive on my skin. I had a peel and purchased some VI products, Melissa recommended. My skin looks 1000x's better!! I'm so happy I returned and started using the skincare line she recommended! I trust her with my skin. Looking forward to the next experience in the salon and prepping for my summer skin. Did I mention she's also Covid trained and certified? Her salon is super clean and comfy! And during these quarantine times she'll also mail your products directly to you if you can't get into the salon! Lastly, her skin looks great! Highly Recommend! read more

This is my first time writing a review & it's totally worth it for all of you out there that need real help with your skin. I first started going Melissa long enough ago that I don't remember how long it's been....maybe 4-5 years ago?? I've gone every month ever since. I have always gotten breakouts my whole life & in my 20s-early 30s I thought I just had "that kind of skin". Melissa showed me that with the proper care your skin can shine, literally. I've never gotten more compliments on how pretty my skin is and it's all due to Melissa. Highly recommend her services!! She will consider what you want to achieve, what your limitations are and suggest things that really help. I will never go to anyone else. read more

Melissa is the best. I've been going to her for about three (or possibly four) years now. I did not have acne issues growing up. However, by the time I started going to her, I was beginning to have consistent pimples probably from lifestyle / stress. Soon after starting to get regular facials with her, those issues went away and my skin feels great. I wish I had taken a before and after picture. She's great at extractions. The studio is clean. The products she uses are awesome. She's super efficient with scheduling (and confirms during the week before the appointment, which is awesome). She's so warm and welcoming. I could not rave about her more. read more

Where do I even start? It's quarantine and Melissa is still my skin goddess by taking care of my skin needs REMOTELY. I've known her for over 5 years and won't go anywhere else. Her facials and product recommendations have saved my skin for many years and became part of my skincare routine. Not only is she a professional and expert in her field, she is also very fun and personable! I look forward to my appointments with her and encourage everyone to book one ASAP. read more

Melissa is the best! My face misses her so much! Love love the deep cleaning extraction facial!

Melissa is exceptional. I'm so pleased to have found her. The experience was tailor made and her studio is a sanctuary.

Melissa is the nicest, most honest esthetician that I had ever met! Granted, I haven't been to a lot in this Mecca of beauty and skin care, but who needs to keep looking? My specific problem was oil acne. I have oily skin with oily bumps all over my face and my jawline. From the get-go, I was ready to really go to town on my skin care and I couldn't have asked for a better person for help. On my first appointment, I got the Vi Peel; a chemical peel that comes highly recommended. The peel barely tingles when put on, but about a day after, your skin will peel. Now, the major peeling is only three days (which is pretty good down time), and for me it took about a week to get completely back to normal. And the great thing is, it actually works! And Melissa is there for any questions or concerns you have during the whole process. One thing to remember is that acne or skin problems is NOT an overnight fix! You have to keep at it and be CONSISTENT with your skin care. Not to mention that Melissa will ask you about your everyday habits that could affect your skin care (diet, water intake, etc.). And be honest! That's the only way she can help you. That's like going to a doctor for trichinosis and not telling them you like eating raw pork. But I digress, Melissa is able and willing to be your partner in crime against bad skin. She will recommend you the right products for your personal condition. She is fantastic and I'll never have to look for anyone else. read more

If you have acne do NOT waste another day of your life without Melissa. She can heal your skin no matter what state its in. I've had acne since my teens in varying degrees and was soo done with being embarrassed by my skin. I kept hoping I would age out of it but that didn't happen. I had tried topical prescriptions, different products, different regimens, you name it. My skin was still clogged, irritated and red. I searched for "acne" on yelp and found Melissa, and after reading the reviews I thought it was worth a shot. Well I have gone from AWFUL skin to seeing my skin clear for the first time in my life. The tone and texture of my skin look beautiful for the first time. What I love about Melissa is she is real with you - with acne there's no such thing as a quick fix and she helps you address every area of your life that could be causing your acne - from what you eat to touching your face to your skincare regimen. I personally would not want to go to someone that just slapped me with a prescription but didn't even ask me about my diet, which is what a derm will do. Melissa really commits to keep working with you to clear up your skin AND keep it that way. She also just genuinely cares so much - she's always texting and emailing me to check in and see how my skin is doing! Extractions are Melissa's real genius zone - she gets EVERY pore and afterwards there's no redness or irritation. The next morning after extractions with her my bare skin honestly looks airbrushed - flawless and glowing. I used to avoid the expense of facials, but in retrospect it kills me knowing I could have had clear skin years ago had I just bit the bullet and gone to see Melissa sooner. I am so grateful to her. read more

All the 5 star reviews are true. These are the best extractions I've ever had. Very little redness and bruising. I'm not gonna lie - good extractions are always painful no matter who I see, but Melissa is quick and precise. In the past, microdermabrasion has left my skin irritated and dry, but not with Melissa. My skin felt and looked great afterwards. The treatments are not cheap, but you truly get what you pay for. She only uses state of the art equipment and quality skincare products (IS Clinical, Demaquest, Murad, etc.). I like that she is not married to one skin care brand and will recommend a customized facial regimen for you. She is not pushy if you don't want to purchase anything. Making appointments are super easy. I text and she responds very quickly. She works in the evenings and Saturdays which makes parking very convenient. read more

After three different dermatologist visits and trying everything from prescription and over the counter medications for months, my teenage son and I are SO HAPPY that we found Melissa! We saw immediate results after just his first extraction session! Even after reading countless 5 star reviews, Melissa blew our expectations out of the water, going as far as explaining the potential causes of my son's acne, recommending over the counter products based on my son's specific facial needs (which turned out to work very well), and telling my son how to care for his skin at home between facial sessions. He felt comfortable with her from the moment she met with us and his clearer completion has boosted his confidence too. Additionally, Melissa followed up with me several times after his facial session, making sure all was well with his skin. That being said, my son and I would highly recommend Melissa to anyone suffering from acne as I believe they would benefit from her expertise, just like he has. After just two facial sessions in less than one month, my son's face looks MUCH clearer and I can't thank her enough! read more

I've been going to Melissa for facials for a year now, and I don't even want to THINK about what my skin would look like now if it weren't for her. I went through some pretty rough breakouts, and Melissa was there for me with her amazing extraction skills to save me just in time. Her extractions are ridiculously clean, I could go to her the day before an event and expect my skin to look much improved the next day. She also recommended some other treatments that were very helpful, such as Vitalize peels, which I normally would never have considered but she made me feel very comfortable and really held my hand through the process. In fact, she's been holding my hand through my entire ordeal to get over my acne breakouts. She listens to my concerns, gives follow-up phone calls to see how my skin is doing, and basically coaches me through my emotional distress about my breakouts. Go see her, and you'll wonder what you did without her! read more

High price for the facial, however, my face looked amazing afterwards. I had milia along my cheek, where I applied blush. After my visit with her, they nearly vanished. Her treatment area is clean. She was diligent and got to work on the facial, without superfluous chit chat. read more

Melissa is the best esthetician I have ever been to. I have had gross acne prone skin most of my life, and have used millions of different products and gone to MANY places for facials. My point is, I know my stuff when it comes to skin care and when I say this is the best place to go for a facial that comes from years of experience. This sounds silly, but Mellisa is more than a esthetician, shes a healer. She has a wealth of knowledge about skin, can identify what you're doing wrong in your regimine and suggest changes (that work), and gets your skin amazingly clean and glowing. It seems like she genuinely likes what she's doing, and cares about me and my skin. I've met some of her clients and we all feel this way. Mellisa is warm, empathetic and funny, and I look forward to my visits with her. The office is beautiful, clean and relaxing. Since seeing Mellisa regularly my skin is clear and beautiful in a way it never has been before. I get compliments on my skin from people, which is a completely new experience for me! read more

Melissa is absolutely amazing! I've been seeing her for a little over 6 months now and have had extractions and peels with her. She had her work cut out for her- I was in pretty rough shape the first time I came in. But she has gotten me back on the right track! Along with providing a fabulous service at a great price, she sends you home with loads of tips on how you can improve your habits for better skin in between your visits. I would recommend Melissa to anyone who is unhappy with the appearance of their skin. If there's anyone who can help, Melissa sure can! read more

Alright. Where do I begin? Seriously, Melissa is amazing. I'm a dude, and I was SUPER sceptical about (not only) facials, but also the vi peel, and anything related to spa facial treatments (*sigh* ignorance). Alas, out of desperation from my battered skin that developed from: long stressful nights at work, using lactic acid peels (which totally broke out my skin), and previous hyperpigmentation -- I had no other choice. So after a lot of questions asked to Melissa, through her amazing patience, I finally agreed to go through with it. I was very nervous of scarring since (because of my melanin) I can easily scar, but she reassured me all would be fine as long as I didn't pick at my skin. So duitufully I followed all her instructions to the T and went home with my peel applied. Surprisingly it didn't sting. I never felt uncomfortable through the process, I just wanted it to be over and get out of my apartment! Finally on the final day (I think 6) my skin was brighter, smoother, and all problems washed away. The only remaining thing to do was to do another peel for the remainder of past hyperpigmentation from acne scars. Overall 5 out of 5. Melissa is great. Go to her, I promise you won't regret it. read more

I've battled acne my entire life (or so it seems). Definitely through teenhood and well into adulthood when many people start to feel insane that they're 25 and still getting zits all over their face. And despite the fact that I'm a freelancer and have, for the most part, never had insurance, I tried everything possible to fix the situation. Like countless others, I experimented with every cream, pill and 5-step program on the market, from lowgrade drugstore buys to more expensive measures. And while some things would work for awhile, nothing ever stuck. By the time I moved to LA in 2012, my face was still a wreck and do to the climate here, it only got worse... as it does for many. Enter Melissa. A friend from home had been bugging me to try getting facials and peels for awhile, but I was feeling hopeless and not wanting to shell out the high cost. Once I was on a bit more of an upswing, I did my research and found My LA Face. I've been seeing Melissa for regular treatments every 4 weeks since then. Through a customized regiment of VI Peels (which I love!), facials and top notch products, I have, for the first time in my life, finally attained clear skin. And it's about time - I'm nearly 30! Not only does Melissa know what she speaks of, she's super nice, flexible (I drive to her Santa Monica office from the Valley, and often battle insane traffic) and easy to work with. She's only a text away when you have questions, and I can't believe all of the compliments I have gotten on my skin. I'll never look back! read more

Melissa was an absolute delight. She was extremely helpful when it came down to booking an appointment. Once I met her she was very kind and explained to me what we were doing step-by-step. I got a facial pore extraction and honestly felt like it helped my face A LOT. The swelling in my face went down within weeks, I can see progress. Will definitely be going back as soon as I can. Thanks again Melissa, see you soon. read more

I am not the type of person who likes to write reviews. I like to read reviews but I have never felt inclined to write one until today. Melissa is awesome! I have been struggling with acne for several years. I stumbled upon her while I was looking for places that does VI Peel. I am so lucky to have gone to her. I have been going to her now for about 8 months and my skin have significantly improved. She suggested products that would help my skin but never tries to sell you up or make you feel that you have to buy it like other places do. Other than helping me clear my skin, she also genuinely cares for her clients and wants to help them achieve what they want for their skin. read more

I've been a client of Melissa's for about 6 years and at the end of each appointment I'm reminded of how thankful I am to have found her business. My skin is noticeably healthier and I have less breakout days. The products are exceptional and I really appreciate the time she takes to explain the correlation between a healthy diet/lifestyle and healthy skin. My appointments have always been tailored to address my individual needs. In the past, I used over the counter cremes/tools that only made my skin worse. Ive since learned my lesson and only want an experienced professional to help improve my skin. I trust Melissa and her advice implicitly because I've seen nothing but positive results. She educates her clients about the right way to treat your skin and is always available to answer questions. I remember I was a little hesitant to get my first peel, but Melissa took her time to explain the process, followed up with me after my appointment and I was very happy with the results. I had another great appointment today and can't wait to go back. read more

I don't normally post reviews anywhere but Melissa is that rare exception worthy of my time and praise. I've been a client for nearly 10 years and will be for as long as she's practicing. She's exceptionally talented, intuitive when it comes to my needs and only uses the best products and techniques. See her once and you'll be hooked for life! read more

Melissa is wonderful! My dermatologist had recommended I get a Vi Peel for my hyperpigmentation/melasma, but quoted me almost $400. Yikes! So, I shopped around and found My LA Face. Melissa offers Vi Peels for only $250! I'm so grateful she keeps her prices reasonable - she said that being located nearby UCLA, she thinks it's important that she caters to young adults/college students by keeping her prices affordable. I got my first Vi peel with her a few days ago and was a bit nervous about the process, I was afraid that it would hurt and burn or that I'd look red and raw-faced afterwards, but she put me totally at ease. The peel did NOT hurt, just felt hot for about a minute and that's it and I can already see little bits of my face where I'm shedding away any discoloration! She welcomed me to text her all my questions and gave me tons of info about aftercare and what to expect from the peel. She herself has absolutely beautiful, glowing skin and said that it's the result of self-care and peels since she was 28! read more

I have been going to Melissa for the last 4 months. My skin is the absolute best it has ever been as a result of her expertise. I usually get diamond peel facials. My skin looks healthy and has a youthful glow after the treatments. Melissa also recommended products to maintain my skin which I purchased and have been extremely happy with the results. She is personable, knowledgeable and great with skin. As an African-American woman, I have to be careful with the person I choose to care for my skin. Melissa was gentle with the extractions with no bruising. I highly recommend Melissa to anyone looking to have beautiful skin! read more

I am so happy that I found Melissa! She has such a warm aura about her. I came in a week ago to get extractions (my first one) & the second I walked in I knew I was in good hands & had found someone that actually cares about my skin. She made me feel comfortable & answered all of my questions. I had two cystic pimples on my cheek that were living on my cheek for MONTHS & literally the next day they were flat. I've been getting compliments on how "smooth" my skin looks all week, which makes me feel good because before the extractions my skin looked bumpy. I'm getting a chemical peel in a few days to have beautiful skin for graduation & although I am nervous I know I am in good hands & the results will be amazing! THANK YOU MELISSA! read more

I have been joking on and off for years that I suffer from 'teenage acne'...but I am in my mid-30's. I have spent years in and out of dermatologist's offices, not to mention a fortune creams, products and peels. I have had facials, facials and more facials. And then I found Melissa. The glitch is...I live in London. I found her on Yelp when I was visiting LA last year, and I have just come back from another trip (and another facial). Oh, to live in Los Angeles and be able to have regular facials from Melissa! When you have acne or other skin problems, you eventually learn that smelly potions and soothing massage is not going to solve the deep-pore issues. Melissa listens to your skin-history, has a good look, and gets cracking. She cleans, she steams, she extracts and from my experience, leaves no trace of the extraction. I went in with spots, I came out with no spots, and not only is my skin is still glowing 10 days on and I have not a trace sign of another spot. In addition to that, in a world where professionals rush you in and out of doors, I left Melissa with my email and she followed up with recommended links to skin-care products. She properly cleans, and she properly cares, and for that, I am booking a flight back and making another appointment as soon as I can! read more

I went here to get a vi peel but left with a new favorite aesthetician. Melissa is really profession and friendly. Can't wait to go back!

I am extremely picky about who I get my facials from and the facial products that I use. I went to Melissa because of all the fabulous reviews for her. Melissa is extremely caring and takes her time with your facial. She offers recommendations with products and facial care when you ask, but does not try to sell hard. Her extractions were not very painful at all. She is a very sweet person who genuinely cares about her clients' skin. The products that she sold me has had a good impact on my skin. I will definitely be going back some time for a facial..hopefully soon. She is all facial and no fluff. Don't bother going to a salon/spa facials...the results that Melissa gives are long lasting. read more
