My grandmother was admitted to Marietta Memorial unexpectedly and my mom recommended that I call Aletha's directly to arrange for some flowers to be delivered. When I called, I reached Heidi who was friendly, knowledable and a great listener - it was important to me that Heidi really took the time to communicate about the arrangement and the delivery process. She even offered to send me a picture of the arrangement prior to delivery. The act of sending flowers tends to be underscored by an emotional event - sometimes a joyous one, sometimes a sad one. To be able to to pick up the phone in California at noon and reach a kind, professional like Heidi who delivers a beautiful floral arrangement to the hospital within two or three hours is priceless. Grandma loves them. She's raving about how lovely they are and that brings all of us who care about her and wish we were there a tremendous amount of solace. Thanks, Aletha's! Thanks, Heidi! I told her she had a significant budget to make something beautiful. I received a call from the person it was delivered to and they said "you did not get your money's worth." I called the store and the worker told me "I told you the plant I was sending was the last one." She was rude and unwilling to help make amends. She told me I needed to call the person I sent it to and apologize to them. I will not be using their services again.

It does sell clothing, hats and jewelry, most with that bohemian and funky vibe, but most of it's found in the back. I was surprised with how much folk decor and country craft replications they had. I was originally expecting something closer to a head shop than a Hallmark. I heard from some locals they have classes and events at the shop and around town, including crochet, Fairy Picnics for kids (this involves wings, apparently), Henna and Hoola-Hop workshops. All pretty funky and all sound very fun. As they also say they're "the hippest shop around" but we're talking Marietta, remember, soooo... Just kidding.
