LIVID from Laredo, Texas!!! My family of 4 and I have had glasses since elementary. I have used many pairs of glasses over 35 years. I have plenty of experience on what the cost with and without insurance a pair of glasses would be. I love to give new opportunities to new businesses and especially if they are close to where I live. This company stated to have state of the art equipment. Which they did. The virtual optometrist, which is not what I was expecting was not as bad as I thought. However, my prescription stayed the same as any other cheap optometry I could have gone to. I didn't learn anything new on this visit, so I guess new technology isn't needed. All the staff was absolutely friendly. I was expecting to get close to what I saw advertised, 2 pairs for $59. That seems like a steal. Skeptical non the less since that can't possible be true, I still allocated $100 for the cost of each pair of glasses for my son and myself. I got the exam and choose some inexpensive frames. Mine were about $40 and my son actually liked ones that were $30, so that seemed reasonable. After the exam, we go to finalize our order. I ALMOST HAD A HEART ATTACK. No, I think I did have one. My total was over $800. The young man that assisted me was kind enough to go through every charge being added and I had him remove all the bells and whistles. The only thing I splurged on was the cost of transition tint for my son. I couldn't get out of saying never mind if not I would have had to pay $45 for the eye exam for each of us. That would have been $90 just on a gimmicky exam. They supposedly deduct it when you buy a pair of glasses, but the glasses are so expensive. If the frame was $30 I can't even imagine how much if it was more than that. No wonder they offer payment plan options and service. It is like getting a loan for glasses that mind you will need to be updated yearly. Even with reducing and removing anti-glare, thickness of glasses, etc. I ended up paying $570. NEVER WILL I EVER GO THERE AGAIN. I am in the 11th month of my glasses and already replaced them once. My son is on his 3rd pair to be replaced. His "free" insurance is expiring next month. (Free because the lady made me pay $5 so that is definitely NOT FREE.) His glasses have literally just snapped from the eye or nose frame in front of my eyes. It may be the tension or lens or something, but they are REALLY CHEAP material. My child is sedentary and in no way causing the glasses to instantaneously combust. The past 2 times when I have ordered his replacement pair, the lab has not called me to let me know they are ready for pick up. I have to call that "local" number and complain. That "local" number is not passing on my complaint except transferring me to the true local store number. I was livid that two days ago I called and was on hold for 18 minutes when I called the number that google generates for my local store. I complained when someone finally assisted me because they asked what my call was concerning. She didn't apologize but said she would transfer me to my local store. She did and when someone locally answered they asked what my call was concerning. My response, "I just spent 18 minutes on hold, 5 minutes expressing my concern, and now you ask me without already being notified?!?!" She said, "No, sorry what number did you call?" So I take a deep breath and a bit more aggravated and explain to the young lady what my call is concerning ( that this is the 3rd time my son's glasses break and the insurance will be over next month and they are cheap material for having paid over $270 just on that one pair). She said, "I'm sorry, but right now we are really busy here at the store and short staffed. Can I put you on hold for like 5 minutes?" Are you sorry about my son's glasses or sorry that you have to put an angry customer on hold AGAIN? I asked her, "I can hold for only 5 minutes and PLEASE DON'T FORGET ABOUT ME." Of course she forgot about me. I set my timer and it was 15 minutes and 43 seconds on hold. Then someone different picks up the phone and asks me what I was on hold for. PLEASE TELL ME I SHOULDN'T BE ON MAX LEVEL OF UPSET. As I attempt to explain to her my level of frustration, she is constantly interrupting me. At this point I tell her, "Rule #101 from customer service is LISTEN TO YOUR CUSTOMER and DON'T PUT AN UPSET CUSTOMER ON HOLD." She then says, yes, I'm sorry. I tell her I apologize, but to please put herself in my position of being on hold and transferred and disregarded. When I finally express me concern to this 3rd individual, she says sorry, but there's no manager right now, but for me to go by tomorrow and tell the manager or call the manager tomorrow. REALLY!!! How about you tell your manager and you give them my number and you express my fury to him/her?!?! It is now day 2 after this phone call and still no call back. I have tried 3 times during my lunch breaks and after school to call the 1 877 number and no one answers. read more
