FINALLY got the lashes I've been wanting!!! Since mid July I have been on the search for a lash salon and had to settle on a not so good job for an important event. BUT TODAY ... Marie at My Chick Habit did a FABULOUS job and I am extremely happy. MCH is a local lash salon, clean, cool with AC, comfy chairs, good music and polite employees. Marie listened to what I wanted, looked at pics I saved and then explained her process and after evaluating my sad natural lashes - I walked out with a full lush set of lashes that fit my face and eye shape. I had high hopes for this place since I found it on yelp, and I'm sure many of the other girls at this salon are amazing but this review is specifically for the lash technician Kaitlin. I have been getting my lashes done for about a year in Newport and while my other girl does amazing work I wanted to go to a salon that was closer to my home in Long Beach for an event I had that weekend, and boy was that a huge mistake. If I could give her 0 stars I would. I came in for a 3 week fill and we talked about the style I would like and she began. She took 2 full hours for this fill, during which she talked to her coworker about how this was "her first time doing this type of lash and it was going pretty well", which immediately made me skeptical but I gave her the benefit of the doubt. Since she ended up taking 2 hours for this fill I figured the outcome would be good quality. When I got out of the chair my lashes looked really good. That next morning when I brushed them and the following days I had so much fallout every single time. I take great care of my lashes, I didn't wet them, I don't wear mascara at all with extensions and they just kept coming out in large chunks. It got to the point where I had massive gaps in between my lashes only 5 days after I had seen her. I reached out to her to fix the problem and she was extremely rude to me throughout our entire conversation, taking no accountability for the work she had done. She offered to see me in a week but my lashes looked so horrible I needed them done sooner. Never in my experience with extensions have I had them look this terrible. I texted her again asking if she could refund me because I could not go another week with ratchet looking eyelashes and she refused a refund and would not accommodate me in any way. She kept blaming outside factors, blaming aftercare, blaming my last lash tech, and even went as far as to say "well this isn't happening to my other clients so obviously it's not my fault". Literally nothing but excuses, not even one apology for my experience with her. She was so rude to me at every turn. I did everything I could to be polite to her and she kept blaming me. I wasted 90 dollars (plus a 20 dollar tip) on this horrible tech so please save your money! Do not see this technician if you want quality work and good customer service. She clearly does not care about her clients at all and if you have a problem with the work you paid for (and tipped well for) you will not have the problem taken care of with her. I will never come back to this place. UPDATE 6/14/17: 6 days post fill with Kaitlin and my regular lash tech Chanel squeezed me in last minute to check my lashes and fix them, she informed me that Kaitlin had clustered too many clumps of volume lash flares on various individual lashes and my natural lash actually broke off because of it, also explaining the reason for the clumpy appearance of my lashes in the pictures. The worst fear for most people when getting extensions is having your natural lash break off. Chanel gave me a serum to begin to regrow all the broken little nubs from Kaitlin's work. Now I understand why she was saying that it was I her first time to her coworker she is inexperienced at volume lashes and totally screwed mine up! I didn't pay that much to be an experiment. Save your money and go to someone with more experience. FYI,if you're looking to come here and ever have a problem with the work you received don't expect the lash salon to do anything about it. I contacted the owner about this issue because I really wanted a refund and received no response as well. Terrible customer service. read more

Marie did such a great job and answered all my questions and made me feel at easy. It took her about 2 hours which felt like 20minutes since I fell asleep in the comfortable recliner. I went in to get lashes for the first time yesterday. We are heading to Maui to do our 10 year wedding vow renewal so I wanted to try something fun. Kaitlin was my lash tech and she was awesome! The entire salon has a great vibe. I really didn't know what to expect, so here's the scoop if you're new to this, like me: Everyone gets their lashes done in one large room at different stations. There is chill music like Coldplay and Frou Frou playing to relax you. The vintage vibe makes you feel like you're in a space to be pampered. One thing that was challenging for me was having to lay still with my eyes shut (but still hearing sounds and being curious) for the full 2 hours. I felt a little claustrophobic but I went to my "happy place" and talked to Kaitlin until I was calmed down and she made great conversation and put my nerves at ease... saying it was a normal challenge but that I'd get used to it with practice. Kaitlin was very welcoming, clear, gentle, kind, knowledgeable and honest. I really didn't know what I was doing or how many variations of eyelashes there were but Kaitlin patiently explained different shapes, lengths, needs, etc. and she encouraged me to go with the hybrid classic/volume lashes and I am soooo happy with my choice. I woke up this morning and I can't believe how great the lashes look. Now I can really say, "I woke up like this!" Hahahah! I'm looking forward to Maui where I can head to the beach or pool and not worry about mascara dripping down my face--- and my hubby LOVES my lashes so that was the ultimate goal for our "10 year." I want to start off by saying my chick habit probably has one of the best customer service I have experienced! I discovered this place through groupon and I am so glad I did. I had called the day of and was able to book an appointment for that evening with Tiffany. She was very sweet and had listened to all my concerns of lash extensions due to a previous bad experience. She was extremely meticulous when she was doing the initial installment. I loved by lashes but after having it on for a week, it started feeling heavy so I had called New Year's Eve and I was told that Tiffany had an opening New Year's Day! When I arrived it seemed like Tiffany had open the shop just to help me fix my lashes! Talk about amazing customer service! (: afterwards she took off my extensions and put on a completely new set of lashes that were more suitable for my natural lashes free of charge! I am in love with my lashes! They will put your mind at ease if you have any questions or concerns. -SANITARY (this establishment is clean and most importantly they are very serious about keeping their equipment sanitized - Book in advance they will try and accommodate but they book quickly. Which in itself is a representation of how great this place is. I've have been going to Sonja religiously every two weeks for almost a year now. For those concerned about the amount of glue or losing their real lashes have no fear. The lash glue is undetectable and my real lashes are still holding strong. I'm always getting compliments and am constantly getting asked if my lashes are real. This place is great and I'm so lucky to have a lash gal like Sonja. I was really nervous about getting my eyelashes done and decided I would try them out for a wedding I was attending. I did some research and came upon "My chick habit"... Then set an appointment a few days later and had an awesome experience! Martha was the esthetician that I saw and she made me feel very comfortable from the start! She was patient in explaining the process and asked what I wanted my lashes to look like. She was very nice, friendly and talked me through the process as she was going through it so I had no surprises. After reading all the positive reviews and having it be close to my house, I made an appointment with Sonja. She called me before the appointment to get an idea of what I had on and what I was looking for. I felt that was a great service. The day of my appointment I had work to finish, which was delaying me in making my appointment. I called the salon and Sonja was very cooperative in letting me get there a bit later but still have time to see what I had and what she needed to do. End result was great!! Can't really give you the exact lashes that you want, so they'll talk you down to some basic ones and won't offer to accommodate you. Also, don't expect for them to "hang onto you" as a client if you have a busy schedule. She was very experienced, she gave very honest feedback and asked what look I was going for. She was willing to transition me from the old lashes I had on to the new, lighter volume lashes. She was very gentle. And easy to talk to, she was very kind. The setting was very relaxing and the decor was awesome! I especially love the portrait of the girl pirate, from pirates of the Caribbean. I love this place! Sonja is absolutely wonderful. She makes me feel very comfortable. She listens to the customer and is very knowledgeable. She cares about the health of your lashes. The ladies at this lash lounge are very friendly and are experienced. Definitely a place I frequently recommend to my friends who love my lashes. They are amazing at what they do so you have to make sure to book appointments in advance. They get pretty busy.... Salem, the big dog that people talk about, is very well behaved. She sits on her bed and isn't in contact with any tools or supplies that they use. She doesn't interrupt during the time her owner is working and doesn't make a sound. She's an amazing service dog and it definitely helps me relax knowing she's there. If you're not having your lashes done with Sonja, you might not even notice Salem is there. I've been coming here for over a year now and love it. I trust Martha with my eyes and lashes 110% she uses quality materials and products which is important. She has always gone out of her way to make sure I am pleased with my lashes. I get volume lashes which is a more precise technique than classic. I ask for a natural look and that's what she gives me. Most people have no clue they aren't my real eyelashes. Parking is street parking only but I haven't had any issues. Interior is very cute and chairs are comfortable. On occasion the owner has her service dog with her in the shop however she is typically in a bed sleeping and you would never know she was there. I would highly recommend this shop.
