I have been taking my cars here since around the time Jim opened the place. 2006 Honda Pilot, 2007 Kia Sedona, 2010 Subaru Outback, 2015 Subaru Outback and a 2015 Buick Enclave). We had just received a shocking high repair estimate at another facility and happened to see a news segment about Ask Patty Certified shops, and so we found Jim - along with a strong recommendation from a woman we know. Many years later, we are loyal customers. The fact is, we can all be taken by a mechanic. How do we really know? Ask Patty is another layer of consumer protection. I have never experienced any of the shenanigans I have endured at so many other car places. Sure, Jim will tell you he can repair all that minor stuff like bulbs and air filters that anyone can easily do themselves, but what I rely on him for are the major repairs, not just maintenance. If my wife happens to be the one taking the car in, she has Jim do that minor stuff. Jim founded his shop after many years in the business, thus establishing his credibility. He is a straight shooter and will tell you what needs to be done and not done. He is no pressure to do repairs. I have never had an issue with a repair that required me to come back, it failed early, or I had to make a warranty claim on his shop's work. He has a coupon sheet that we have always used to keep our three cars going. He referred us to an inexpensive auto body dude who does repairs from his garage. Jim also has the free loaner vehicles. For quick stuff I connect to his WiFi and work there, chatting with him about all sorts of stuff. He has good coffee. He has an annual car show thing. My front brakes were shot and Jim worked me in on short notice. Repaired the brakes and squeezed in an oil change as well. Straightforward and no up-sell. Good experience without the repair shop stress. Definitely would recommend if you need repairs or maintenance done. read more

I left my lights on in my garage one night. The next morning of course the battery was near death. So I called these guys. "Sorry, we are too busy to come give you a jump, and we don't recommend jumping new cars with computers." At that moment I was not please. Then they offered me to loan me their "portable start kit." So, things are looking up. I got in an Uber and ran over to collect. I went home and connected this little briefcase to my cars battery. Started the first try. I was not happy that they did not have time, but after all, my problem was my fault and if they are that busy, they must be good. 5 stars isn't enough for Jim and his team! They are the best! I first started coming to My Car Guy after my father in law recommended them. They also happen to be about 2 miles away from my house so it's very convenient. On my first visit, I had a similar experience to what David wrote about, overhearing Jim give a customer a very thorough and honest evaluation of what should and shouldn't be repaired on their car and specifically of what should be done under warranty work at the dealership. On that same visit, I must have been apologized to at least 4 times just for having to wait about 15 minutes while Jim handled a flood of calls (not a big deal especially since it was about -25F last winter and EVERYTHING was breaking). I don't think I've ever even been talked to politely at most service counters let alone have someone tell me that the respect my time and are sorry for a slight delay. I do most of my own car repair and have always been wary of most shops, but I can say without reservation that Jim and his team have my trust and my business. They stand by their work and by their estimates. They treat your car as their own and treat you like a neighbor. I know that when I take one of our vehicles there they will do the right work, do it well and keep me informed throughout the process. The people at My Car Guy do excellent work and don't charge an arm and a leg. They've taken care of me whenever I've needed work done, getting the job done right the first time, and keeping the cost down in the process. They've also helped arrange to pick up my car when I can't make it down to the shop to drop it off. I've actually never seen the shop in person. I typically hate taking my car in for work because I assume that they're going to nickel and dime me and try to sell me service that I don't actually need. MCG eases that pain becuase it becomes quickly apparent that they respect you as a customer and aren't' going to try to squeeze as much out of you as they can get. read more

We started bringing our cars to My Car Guy about six months ago. We had always brought them to a family friend, knowing we could get an honest evaluation and work, but unfortunately weren't able to do that anymore. We have had Jim tell us a couple times that he didn't think it'd be worth it to fix something either because it didn't HAVE to be done right away or he didn't think the $$ would be worth it. We used to take our car to the dealership to get it serviced. Customer service and workmanship were OK (at best) and prices were always high. Fortunately, I discovered My Car Guy through a friend. They are completely honest with customers, do high quality work and charge very fair prices. They offer free loaner cars if you need one while the repair is done.
