I didn't find this out until I arrived at my appointment on the day of. I can't decide if I should try again or not. I had heard good things about Elan Hair and Spa from a Moms of Lancaster Facebook group. I am new to the area (just moved from a large city) and needed some recommendations. I called and booked and appointment for partial highlights later that week and was so thankful they could accommodate me quickly. There was no mention of their policies and no questions asked to be at the time I booked the appointment about me having a baby with me even though I mentioned how I heard about them...from an MOMs group. I was scrambling to go out of town later that afternoon after my appointment with a dog and 6 month old baby while my husband was at work. I rushed around frantically so I would make sure I was on time for my appointment. Luckily my baby fell asleep in his stroller/car seat just before I arrived. I wheeled him in (still fast asleep in his stroller) right on time for my appointment and was so relived and proud of myself and excited to get my VERY overdue highlights addressed. Right as I walked in, the receptionist or whomever was at the front desk said "oh is someone coming to pick up the baby?" I just froze and looked at her and said no. She said oh well it's our policy for safety reasons that you can't have a baby with you while you get your hair done. Either someone has to come pick up the baby or you have to reschedule. I said oh I had no idea that was the policy. Are you sure you can't highlight my hair while he sleeps? She said no it's our policy bc of safety wit the hot tools. While I understand and respect their policy and it does make sense, I have been to many salons and never had anyone turn me away for that reason. What would have been very much appreciated would be if they had been proactive in their approach and asked me upon booking the appt if I had a baby and explained the policy then. It would have taken 10 seconds and saved me a ton of aggravation. Instead I had to be in a wedding party with horrible looking roots. I could have booked an appt at another salon had I been made aware of their uncommon policy. Now I know to always ask that moving forward but it was a bad first experience.
