Take extreme caution when hiring this company. I've hired Mike in the past and he did good work last year, I recently hired him for a job, he took my $1,000 deposit and never returned. I reached out to him with a stair project this summer since I've used him before. I sent him several pictures and he quoted me $1,250. The day he arrived to do the job, he increased the price to $2,400. When I turned him down, he reduced it to $1,900. Since I was anxious to get the job done, I agreed to the price. He came back the following day, Demanding half up front (I paid him $1,000). He worked for about an hour, left his tools and went to "get supplies" promising he'd be back that afternoon. He never returned. He then committed to come on July 3rd, and never showed up. When I expressed my frustration and asked for a refund of my deposit, he said "If I can't get it done Monday, July 5th, I'll refund your money." He showed up on Monday July 5th at 7:30AM, I thought to do the work, but all he did was pack up his tools and was gone by 7:45AM. When I questioned him, he said "I'm running to get supplies." He had already been to the site 3 times, including the day he increased the price. When I asked for my promised refund, when he didn't complete the job by July 5th (he actually didn't even start the job) he told me "deposits are non-refundable." I reminded him of his commitment to refund my money and he he old me I was "being difficult." After calling him again and again, he promised to come on Saturday, July 10th. I text him the day before (Friday) to confirm he would be coming to complete the job and he replied "I will be there in the morning." At this point, I shouldn't have been surprised that he never showed up. This was the FIFTH time I had taken time off work to be home, and Mike never showed. He has since ignored all texts and phone calls. Once I asked him to stand True to his word and refund my deposit, he quit replying. There are other reviews, including reviews on Google from users sharing similar experiences. Ir appears Mike is nor registered to do business in the State of Utah. The only address listed for MVP Flooring Installations is not a valid address, meaning no such house exists. By searching his telephone number, (832) 310-3757 , I came across this Yelp business page and felt it necessary to leave this review. It appears this business once had a Facebook page (I found results in a google search), but that page has since been deleted. I have filed a complaint with the Utah Department of Commerce. I feel it necessary to warn other consumers against using this company. I thought paying half up front was reasonable, I had no idea he would show up to collect the money, and leave moments later. If you are looking for someone with high craftsmanship for a reasonable price, I would highly recommend MVP Floor Installations. They installed my floor and it turned out very well. They fought the battle with this 100+ year old house so I didn't have to. Additionally MVP custom built a lid for my crawl space access that blends so well with the floor. Was torn between having Home Depot install or MVP Floor installations. I ordered all materials from Home Depot and when I interviewed Mike, I quickly realized I was in the hands of someone who knew what they were doing. Mike and his crew were extremely thorough, cost effective and my floors are absolutely stunning. He did the floor boards, staggered my pergo, blended the colors and even put down concrete in areas that were uneven. Mike gave us an estimate to lay approximately 160 sq ft of vinyl planking. Mike found that our basement wasn't level and proceeding would be disastrous to continue if we wanted a flat floor. Mike went ahead a leveled the floor to what I consider a beautiful job since it really was a mess. He installed the flooring, even around a sloping drain, and it looks great. I would recommend Mike for this type of work to anyone. He is very particular and wouldn't proceed until the floor was such he could was satisfied it wouldn't buckle anywhere. Cudos Mike! read more
