Quickie Review - No reviews since 2016???? I guess Yelp Abilene isn't a thing. While visiting the…read morearea over the weekend I showed up to grab donuts for my car club. Space seemed clean and the staff was friendly. I asked for a dozen assorted yet hat to pick what I wanted. Take the leap and just throw some fried circles in the box! I don't know what I'm doing! Lots of colorful donuts too; lime green and purple thanks to some food dye. Headed back the hotel where I was staying. Friends commented on how good the donuts were like I was a Yelp genius finding this place. Must have been my anxiety filled 5 minutes figuring out 12 tastes and preferences.

In our going on 3 weeks in Abilene I've gotta say it's the first time someones been THAT cheerful. As a super early morning person myself- this definitely made my heart happy . The selection was not huge but let me tell you - the consistency, texture, taste, and freshness of the donuts we tried was ON POINT. The hubs got an Apple fritter. I went with the most delish cinnamon twist I've ever consumed and a chocolate on chocolate round I saved for my dessert after din din. It was still fresh and delish. Keep supporting local businesses and get yourself a freshy treat here. (Or grab some for your staff/kids preschool/ senior center- etc)

The…read moreappearance/ambience were pretty much the same as most other donut shops and the place seemed very clean. The service was very friendly, but what will bring me back are the donuts. We tried a regular glazed, chocolate iced, blueberry cake and a kolache. All were excellent. I love blueberry cake donuts and this was as good as any I ever had. Very light for a cake donut, great blueberry taste and a delicate icing that accented the donut perfectly. The chocolate iced was wonderful as well. The donut was light and the chocolate icing had a great chocolate taste that did not overpower the donut. The regular glazed donut was light as well, pillowy and amazing. The glaze was very good, not too sweet and just the right amount. The kolache was excellent as well. Our granddaughters loved them too, will definitely be back our next trip.

The other donuts weren't great and one of them was just weird - like the chocolate frosting settled lumpy bumpy and the actual taste of the donut was off. I think it was just an anomaly. It happens. She has some little burritos that were egg/sausage/cheese or bacon/sausage/cheese and kolaches too. Definitely hit the spot.

All of the bakery items are extremely fresh, homemade, and crave worthy! Something that I absolutely loved here is that the iced coffee has 4 shots of espresso. The food is always changing which I love. I do think their pastries are amazing. Their muffins are…read morealways perfect, their desserts are phenomenal. One complaint I have is that croissants are always burnt. Never one time have they been cooked at the right level. They want to make sure the inside is cooked but the outside isn't golden it's always dark and over crispy. Today I had a scone but the ratio of toppings to dough was off a bit. Perhaps oven temperature? There isn't enough space for customers to maneuver and while they do have a microwave for you to heat up food that isn't heated through it's a cheapo Hamilton one from Walmart. It would make a big difference in customer service for them to upgrade to a higher wattage microwave that is maybe professional grade. Both for the staff behind the counter and the one available to customers. Simple fix that I think would help the line move quicker. Staff are always courteous and kind.

From the moment I walked in, I was greeted with friendly smiles and outstanding customer service. You can tell they truly care about their customers and take pride in what they create. We tried three different desserts, and each one was absolutely delicious! Moli McKay's is the kind of bakery that reminds you why shopping local is so special. They continue to honor the legacy of the past McKays Bakery while moving forward. Every dessert was fresh, beautifully decorated, and made with obvious attention to detail. Pair that with exceptional customer service, and it's easy to see why so many people recommend this bakery to me. If you haven't been yet, do yourself a favor and stop by--you won't leave disappointed! I'll definitely be back the next time I am in Abilene to try even more of their incredible creations.

I wanted to give more than just an average Joe 3 stars just because of the cool specialty pie…read moreconcept (and cool name and play on words!). A friend and I just happened upon this shop because we were in the shopping plaza going to H&H Beverages (ABC liquor store). The pie shop itself happened to be closed but we discovered a self serve pie and goodie vending machine right outside the shop front entrance and wandered over to check it out. Pretty darn cool concept! The vending machine takes credit card payments and there were a lot of different pie options to choose from - so kudos to them for keeping a well stocked machine after hours. There are various pie slice flavors, 6" small whole pies and also what they call "pie-faits" (get it? a play on the word "parfait") - little dessert cups (basically deconstructed pies in a jar with a lid). I posted a bunch of pics and a couple vids so check them out. We ended up ordering 2 pie slices - Key Lime and Milk and Cookies. Prices for slices were a tad high but we figured what the heck, we'll splurge for fresh homemade pie. We liked the Key Lime pie slice - very tart, tangy and creamy. But we didn't like so much the Milk and Cookies pie slice - when we dug into it, it was mostly all pie crust and pie topping and not much actual pie filling - also was way too sweet (probably due to the slice being all crust and topping) - disappointing especially for how much we paid for the slice WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THE MILK AND COOKIES PIE. We peered through the front window into the shop - it looked quaint and basic - a tiny little place - an ordering counter, pie display case and a couple of tables and chairs. That was about it. Not really the kind of ambience that would cause me to stay, sit and eat there honestly. The shopping center was old and tired and seemed a bit run down with vacant shops and not much going on. From the main road (Rebecca Ln) you can't even see the shop signage so unless you knew about this place, you would never know it was here driving by (not even with their truck parked near the street) - which is unfortunate for them. In the end, bottom line, I don't think it's a place I would go out of my way to seek out or frequent. It was a cool novelty stop-in-and-try-once kind of place (and only because it caught our eye when we were at the liquor store) but given the high cost of a slice and not being absolutely blown away by what we ordered, not really worth a second look imo. :(
