I needed drumsticks and a friend of mine recommended Musician's Workshop. - The drum section is practically non nonexistent. They sell 5A and 7A drum sticks, the most popular Evans heads, and drum thrones. - As of now they don't carry drum sets, cymbals, or accessories of any kind, but they did in the past. - The clerk was quite personable. Musician's Workshop might be great for guitarists, but being a drummer, I have to rate this store based on my needs. If you're a drummer too, you'd be better off going to Guitar Center. read more

Great spot to buy a guitar, drums, etc. On one of my trips to Asheville, I stopped in for a tambourine for our young daughter and scoped the place out. Fast forward and I've really been wanting an acoustic electric guitar. On our most recent trip, we decided to stop in again and see what they had. The staff were amazing and helped us choose a guitar in our price range. They "fit" us so that the guitar wasn't too big or too little and they hooked it up to an amp so we could hear it. It was an amazing experience and now we're budding guitar players. We'll stop back in next time we're in Asheville when we've practiced more and are ready for an amp, capo, etc. Musician's Workshop has the nicest, no-pressure staff we could imagine! read more

Brian at Musicians Workshop has taken care of everything I've asked on multiple guitars, quickly and in a very professional manner. Gets back to me when he says he will or sooner. Brian also has a very broad knowledge base. If he doesn't know the answer or isn't sure, he finds out very quickly and moves forward. I wish I could get my healthcare from him : ) read more

Went in today, a Friday, a little after 12:00 to play some Fender's/Squier's. Laidback atmosphere with a few customers coming and going. After I grabbed a Squier Tele with f-holes Logan set me up with a Supro Comet tube amp in an adjacent room. Played a few other Squier's and a Fender, but was really enjoying the surf green Squier Classic Vibe 70's Jaguar. All of the store's guitars sounded and felt great--they take great care of them and keep them in tune. I really appreciated Logan's customer service. Very helpful and knowledge, but not overbearing. He was chatting me up about Jazzmaster's and Jazz Choruses, My Bloody Valentine and The Cure, and similar subjects. He also let me take a look at their Fender/Squier catalogue to get an idea of all the current models they could get in stock and their features, and brought out a Electro-Harmonix Ocean's 11 pedal for me to play with. I was loving the Squier Jaguar plugged into the Supro Comet with the Ocean's 11 pedal. In addition to the awesome guitars and Logan's solid customer service, I was excited to see they carry melodicas and mini xylophones, among other cool things (and besides drums, basses, keyboards, and audio equipment). Definitely a music store I'm happy to give my business to. read more

I bought a Fender bass amp today. I was able to look up their stock online, drove an hour with my young kids and I called when I got there and they had it ready and waiting. They offer curbside service which is great for covid (and if you have young kids you don't want running around the store). The two guys I talked to were personable and I had a great experience. read more

Musician's Workshop - Fender Rumble 40 - Musical Instruments & Teachers Near Me - Asheville, North Carolina

Their guitar setups are subpar. They will take your instrument and return it to you in worse shape than when they got it. The owner is rude and suggested that I move back to NJ. read more

This place is incredible! Never go to guitar center again! I took a guitar in here to have it restrung and cleaned up-everyone was so friendly, I was acknowledged immediately when I walked in, and they were so helpful because I really don't know much about guitars (I was having this done for my dad as a gift). I never felt stupid about being ignorant about what I was asking for, and they did a fantastic job very quickly for an amazing price!! read more

Seems like a good all-purpose music store, especially if you're a guitarist. Nice selection of ukuleles and a room devoted to pro audio gear. They were able to provide (and install) new strings on our viola in just a few minutes, but did not have a bow available for sale. read more

Musician's Workshop - Musical Instruments & Teachers Near Me - Asheville, North Carolina

Just picked up my Fender Acoustisonic Player Tele and I'm not sure which I'm more pleased with: this mind blowing instrument (the construction from Mexico is flawless, just like you hear on YouTube!) or the great pricing and service that I always get here. Also bought an MXR 6 band EQ for EXACTLY the same price as AMZN or the big box music outlets. BECKY - you "guys" are awesome - always love coming by the store. The way you stayed on my order and had it all ready for me when I came in today was truly top notch service and is most appreciated. Thank You! read more

First off all, this music shop smells like a music shop, the woods and strings melding together to give you the feeling of being one with the instruments. Yesterday, my son came home from camp excited about ukulele. I decided that if this is his step into music than who am I to stop it? We went to Musician's Workshop to look at Ukeleles. This is a great local business that sells Taylor guitars and the salesperson (I apologize for not getting your name) treated my son as if he were buying an expensive guitar. He explained the benefits of each kind of ukulele to him, gave him a stool to try out each ukulele and helped him make the right decision. He understood that for my son, this is his first instrument and he wanted the fire to grow within him. He showed my son the same service he would have gotten buying a custom guitar even though we walked out with an $80 ukulele. He tuned the ukulele for him. Just a great experience. I highly recommend skipping the big corporate store and go to a place that cares for its musicians! Keep it up! Thank you for today, my son hears music today and immediately runs to his uke to strum away. Thank you for your care and service! You guys are the best! read more

I was in Asheville on vacation and checked out a number of the shops in town. Musician's Workshop was great. Sales folks were helpful, they figured out what I was looking for, gave me a quick intro, then left me to noodle. They were around to answer questions and were genuinely excited to talk about the about the guitars. The electric guitar inventory isn't huge (they have a room full of acoustics that I didn't visit) but they had a good range of Squire/Fender and PRS from lower to the higher end. I ended up buying a PRS SE and had them ship it back home. Shipping cost was reasonable and they double-boxed the guitar with a ton of bubble wrap. I'll definitely visit the store again if I'm in the area. read more

I'll be moving to Asheville soon, so I stopped by this shop out of interest. Great selection of electrics and acoustics, especially PRS, Fenders and Taylors. Very impressed with the staff, who couldn't have been nicer, more courteous, or patient. Very knowledgeable. I'll be a near-term customer for sure. read more

Very excited about my first ukulele purchase. The customer service was stellar when I was a prospective buyer. They even brought out two ukuleles from the back, spread them out all across the front counter and tuned them up for me to select the one I wanted. Awesome job that! However, after I made the purchase and then returned to the store not 1 minute later to buy a set of Aquila strings, a strange shift in the universe happened. I brought the ukulele I had just purchased inside, asked for a set of Aquila strings and about them putting them on and tuning them up. When advised that it would be $15 extra for them to put on 4 ukulele strings (that's a total of $25 for different strings), I politely asked that if I put them on, would they be kind enough to tune it for me? I was advised that I'd be taking up too much counter space if I did that. I have to say that I was offended by the reaction. They just had that same counter strewn with boxes and ukuleles while they were showing them to me. Needless to say, I didn't even bother to purchase the strings from them. I walked away extremely disappointed. I love giving my business locally, Musician's Workshop does have the best selection in Asheville and most likely in all of WNC, so I'm sorry to say that I'm now motivated to take my business elsewhere. Thanks for the initial stellar customer service, but 2 stars for the bad taste this transaction has ultimately left me with. read more

Couldn't have been a more comfortable, friendly atmosphere when I asked to return a very recent purchase. (It was my goofup, not theirs!)

Nice open set up with lots to choose from. If you're a Strat fan, you'll be blown away. USA and Mexican models abound! Def not a Big Box store, but plenty of selection. Great experience. read more

Staff is interested, knowledgable ,courteous.Selection is more than adequate.Could use a little more in the music division.Prices seem fair and competitive both locally and on line.Recommend this shop. read more

These guys are a typical local music store. They're horrible. As par for the course they gouge the prices of everything you'd possibly need at the last minute, and want you to pay the same price for an instrument everyone and their brother has had the chance to put their fingers all over as one you can buy brand new guitar for the same price with free delivery, maybe been taken out to be photographed. They care nothing about why you're there, even if you're spending money. They're less than knowledgeable about the very gear that they carry. If you know what you need, like strings or a limited selection of picks, they're okay. I think the guys over at Music City are even worse when it comes to customer service, but that's for another review. Unless you just have to have that guitar today, buy it from Sweetwater or some other online retailer, though I wouldn't suggest any besides SW. Also, their drum selection is horrible, if you're looking to get a beginner set for a new player forget about the choices at MW. read more

Real poor snap judging passive aggressive staff. Test driving guitars sounding great they have no idea who they just turned away. No way buying our Taylors from such a lousy staff that really want us gone. There was nothing inviting about this staff. read more

I bought an Ibanez electric guitar from Musician's Workshop 2 days ago and I am very pleased with the guitar and the customer service that was offered. Shane was very knowledgable of guitars and was very patient with someone who does not know a lot about electric guitars. I also bought a 12 string Taylor acoustic from them this year and am very pleased with the guitar and the service in this purchase as well. I love buying local and supporting local owners and staff. It is great when there is a quality music shop like this in my neighborhood that offers a great selection of guitars, and plenty of knowlegable staff to help you find what you want. Ryan and Brian have also been helpful sales persons in other accessory purchases I have made at Musician's Workshop. I also take guitar lessons with Mark and have found him to be a most excellent teacher. Mark also did a fret leveling of one of my acoustic guitars that made the guitar sound and play wonderful. I hope to be coming to Musician's Workshop for many years to come! Thank you! read more

Walked into the store to purchase a beginner mandolin for hubby's b'day. Shane was very helpful and never pushy. Realizing I did not have a lot of knowledge about this purchase, he asked good questions and thoughtfully considered my needs. Only wish they knew of a source for lessons, but otherwise it was a very good experience. Would definitely return and/or recommend Musician's Workshop. read more

Had to get a guitar set up quick one morning while on tour before leaving town and these guys put mine on the bench immediately and had it set up in under 20 mins and didn't charge me an arm and a leg! Best in Asheville. Thanks!! read more
