I went to Music World today to get a broken string replaced. Not only was my string replaced as I waited, but it was replaced for free. While my string was being replaced, I got good advice about my banjo's tuning pegs. The person who helped me was very helpful and friendly. Old school deceptive business practices. Screwed $70 out of me. I've been going between Music World, Guitar Center, and Beacock Music for a long while now... Decided to pick up a fairly expensive guitar at Music World. Kept it for literally 1 night, less than 24 hours and brought it back because it just wasn't working well for me. Sprung a RESTOCKING FEE AT 10% on me. When I asked about potential returns the night before they said nothing about this... It's in fine print at the bottom of the receipt. They willfully kept this information from me when I asked. I've never heard about this sort of thing at the multitude of music shops I've been to and bought-from my entire life. Ever. This was admitted-to that this was a manager's/store policy. They kept $70 of my money and I just kind of laughed a little and said "I guess if it's worth a customer...". Reply: 'Hey man I just work here...'. I wouldn't. Lol. So they took $70 of money for nothing and walked 5 feet to place it back on the wall. I have never delt with something like that. To be honest, they really sell hard too. All the days I was in there prior, I heard different information from different employees about the same guitars. That should've been my first Red Flag. I've done a lot of business with Beacock Music and Guitar Center for decades and never came across any of this. Shop at those stores. Stay away from people like this. They do not care about their customers, only what they can scrape out of you. Withholding information like that too and hiding it as best as possible is absolutely intentional in businesses like this. Skunkery at it's finest. read more

I have been taking my daughter here with a very low quality violin. They have been very kind and informative. I feel like their goal is for my daughter to have the best experience and they are not focused on making a sale. My 10 yr old daughter wanted to add her thoughts: I am a starter at violin. And I have really in enjoyed going to there shop to get my violin tuned.They are very nice, patient,and love to listen to what you have to say and that is why I give them 5 stars I would do 10 if I could. read more

Rented a Viola from a different music shop,(where I had an awkward non personable interaction) after playing it for the first time the A string snapped . THANK GOODNESS for Tyler! I called Music World and he assured me they had the string and would even replace it for me in the store! The whole environment was so welcoming. He changed my string and tuned my viola! This is a fantastic local music shop. The owner and staff are super relaxed, friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. They have a great selection of guitars and actually encourage you to play them (unlike guitar shops that keep everything locked up). I had been to several guitar shops where I had indifferent service or was ignored entirely when trying to ask to have instruments unlocked for me. When I first went into Music World I planned to buy new strings....but I walked out with a new guitar. read more

We've rented two instruments from this store and were so well taken care of both times, including when we needed a repair. Our kid isn't continuing with either instrument or we'd still be renting and the next time our kid needs an instrument, this is where we'll come. read more

I go here for everything! These guys have helped me with so much - from assessing my used instruments condition to restringing my guitars and ukuleles. I usually hate going into music stores (they can sometimes make you feel stupid) but I LOVE coming here. Tyler has treated my instruments beautifully and always goes the extra mile, cleaning and conditioning my fret boards with every restring at no extra charge. Just this week Tyler inspired the confidence in me to fulfill my lifelong dream of learning the banjo. He set me up with everything I needed, a brief tutorial to get started, and when I expressed concern about my toddler messing with it he even found me an old hard case which he threw in for free!! My experience with Music World and it's employees has been nothing short of wonderful. They have a nice selection of instruments and supplies but for me the greatest find has been their instrument repair and service; I have had numerous guitars set-up and customized (electronics & pickups replaced etc) and their work is always first rate. Every guitar I have dropped off comes back noticeably better than before and their prices are unbelievably reasonable. Very friendly staff. Good selection of music and instruments, and ready to order anything they don't have. A lot of music stores employ arrogant musicians who don't really know what they are talking about. Music World has friendly employees that don't make you feel uncomfortable. I will definitely be a regular here. I wanted to teach myself trumpet and not only did they set me up with everything I needed, they even gave me a mini lesson on how to get started. I bought a 2020 Breedlove Premier Concertina from Music World in Vancouver, WA. What a great experience! I live 2 hrs away, but was going to be driving through on a road trip. I emailed Matt to ask if he had the particular model I was interested in - even though the 2020 models had just come out. Turned out he was going to be at NAMM in SoCal the next day. He searched out that Breedlove model and sent me pictures of it, then special-ordered and shipped one to his store - even though I hadn't committed to buying one. He went out of his way to get it to the store just in time for me to see it - and had other models there for me to compare to. Very knowledgeable and fun to talk with. My favorite music store in Vancouver. They may not have the selection that Beacock's has but they are more knowledgeable and friendly. Decent prices for a small store. Great selection of guitars and amps as well as music books. Recently went there to see if they could order some special picks. I went in late in the day, close to Music World's closing time, desperate to find a nut I had lost for a Schaller strap lock. It was annoying that I lost a REALLY small nut off of my strap lock in the first place and every hardware store I went to (3 around the area) came up with nothing. I called Music World the day before asking if they had anything and they told me, "Come on in. We have a bunch of nuts. We'll take a look and see if we can't find one that fits." Well that's exactly what happened when I went in. The guy working there, Tyler, went back to the back and came back with a small toolbox drawer of nothing but nuts. We both looked through the WHOLE drawer, testing them on my two strap locks that I brought in. Unfortunately, every one of them in the drawer didn't work, and a lot of them looked like they would fit. They were either too big, too small or had the wrong screw thread. This was AFTER the closing time of the store mind you, so Tyler was going above and beyond his duties. He said, "hold on, I might have something else that works." He went back to the back area and came back, miraculously, with half of a strap lock that HAD a working nut! Tyler TOTALLY hooked me up with exactly what I needed! Needless to say, I got friendly helpful service the whole way, from the initial phone call to getting the much needed nut. Music World takes care of their customers for sure! We have been renting musical instruments for our kids here for years. It is a great way to try a new interest before you commit. Kids hate commitment. I feel that their guitars are a bit overpriced. They offer music lessons and private teachers rent space there. We really love this business. read more

First, I'll admit that I'm a bit prejudiced about this business as I am currently working as a music instructor at their Hazel Dell location. However, I am writing this from the viewpoint of a customer as we rented sound equipment from them for our wedding on New Year's Eve (2014). My husband-to-be (also a musician) took care of this entire process, and his feedback was purely positive. When he went in to pick up the equipment the day before the wedding, Bill and other employees (sorry - he wasn't sure about all the names since he was just meeting them!) came out to double-check that everything was there and all was good-to-go. They made the entire process efficient and straight-forward, and their rates were extremely reasonable. Highly recommended! read more

Always friendly. Always helpful. Always ethical. This store is an asset to our community. For example, they donate their services to fix instruments on the spot at our annual Hazel Dell Parade of Bands. And, a local store provides many benefits not available from an Internet vendor. I knew the founder, who was a wonderful person. It's good to see that his legacy is being carried forward in fine style by his daughter and a very devoted staff. read more

Their employees are very knowledgeable and approachable and I feel like they really care about their customers and the community. Their selection isn't huge but I think that's what makes them unique. It's the quantity not the quality that makes the shop special. My family has rented numerous instruments from them as well as taken lessons in three different instruments from their teachers.
