I've been taking drum lessons at the Music Source with Tony Divozzo on and off for over 20 years. Tony is a career drummer with over 30+ years of teaching experience. He's been playing drums most of his life, is Navy trained, and has spent countless years playing with local cover bands. Tony structures his lessons to the experience and skill level of the drummer. For the beginning drummer that may include working through Stick Control, a practice book that helps develop control, speed, rhythm, touch, etc. For the advancing drummer he'll write out weekly lessons focusing on areas that expand skill levels such as double bass rhythms, hi-hat time, or a riff you heard but couldn't play. My daughter plays the trumpet and violin. She wanted to take private lessons instead of group lessons at school so she could focus on her music. Music Source was able to accommodate both instruments and our schedule (with 3 kids that can be difficult)! During her first lesson, I had the pleasure of speaking with the owner and learned a lot about the Music Source and its origins. He is definitely an "old school rocker" which may turn off some people but I found him to be very funny and down to earth! My daughter walked out of her lesson and said she loved it and can't wait until she can start her violin lessons. The instructor came up to me after the lesson with her recommendations. I stopped in for a guitar cable for my multi instrumental son. After talking with the owner Bob, who is very knowledgeable and nice, we got on the topic of drum lessons(my son's main passion). Bob suggested I talk to Tony(drum instructor) about lessons. After a lengthy conversation, Tony offered a free lesson to see if my son would like them. My son had been hesitant to take lessons because he plays Metal genre. I talked him into trying a lesson(I paid for it as no one should work for free). After one lesson, my son told me he would like to continue with weekly lessons. After 5 months he enjoys his lessons with Tony and continues to go weekly. Tony is amazing and is even teaching him to read and write drum music. My sons skills have improved greatly and the lessons have made a profound impact on his playing. I highly recommend Music Source based on our experience there, great people and affordable lessons! read more

I stopped in for guitar strings since I ran out and was in a pinch. As for the store it was clean and staff was friendly but wow their prices were high. Ernie Ball Cobalt strings are sold by Ernie Ball and have a retail price of $11.99. The sticker on the package said $19 whoa! But the price was dropped to a bit over $15. Having said that yeah I overpaid but I have no problem supporting a local little shop and it was convenient with friendly people. It won't be my go to for gear but once in a while I'll stop in to show them support. read more

I brought a clarinet in for repair and requested a rush on the order because my daughter has a concert next week to perform at. When meeting Bob, you can tell he is passionate about music and promised to get it back asap. When the clarinet was ready, Bob picked it up after work and delivered it to us. My daughter started her guitar lessons here. I was impressed....at first...that her teacher was working with the way an 8 yr old learns. Mostly by ear. Then he up and quit and the Owner or the teacher did not inform us. I don't think the teachers, mainly 20 something year olds, have the patience or encouraging nature to teach young kids. Especially little girls that want to play electric guitar. read more

Nasty and rude. Something very wrong with the owner. Not a pleasant experience. Wish there was another place to go. Never going here again.

I've brought my child here for a short time (perhaps a little over a month) and I've not seen chaos quite like this, although the owner seemed nice enough. The piano teacher assigned to my child was at first very good and connected well, but his lesson room was beyond messy. My child had a hard time concentrating on her lesson because she heard other piano and voice lessons from the next room over during my child's lesson - it was quite ridiculous. We went to our music lesson as scheduled and the piano teacher up and quit and you would think Music Source would have called me to let me know. So no music lesson. They let my child have a lesson with another teacher but he was too intellectual for an 8-year old. I have to add the bathrooms are disgusting and appear to have not been cleaned and have stains on the toilet seats and floor. I would think Music Source would be embarrassed about the shape of their bathrooms especially that they are open to the music students and parents. I would not recommend the Music Source for your child's music education. read more
