Did I have the Museum Willet-Holthuysen on my list when visiting Amsterdam, that would be a negative, but glad I got a chance to visit it.
I had a few hours to spare, while walking around on a brisk afternoon. Opened up my trusty Yelp app to find many suggesting a nearby museum. First thought was, yes get me into warmth, I'd gladly pay for it at this point! What I discovered though was the life of wealth in an era where wealth was not easy to come by. 12 euro let you dive into the glitz and glam from an era long gone. Three stories of lavish, high life, golden age, grand, or whatever you would like to call it. I'd say a piece of history really frozen in time at this point. Room by room by our self guided tour (With no audio guide, my choice) left me in awe not only by the beautiful crown moldings, art, furniture, but the spectacular views! With all of that, there also comes a stunning small garden that would of been my place to hang out back in the day, even in the winter time it was well maintained, but I am sure in the Spring and Summer it is quite beautiful. I could of easily spent hours here learning about the residence and who occupied it, but sadly had to make it a quick visit, but again well worth it!
If you are into smaller museums that are based on someone wealthy life back in an era long gone, then look no further. This may not be worth a trip for everyone though. read more
