This is a very well laid-out clothing boutique in Memphis. Everything is pretty, chic, and must-have if you have a few extra dollars. A bit on the pricey side for those who like to keep tops around $50 and under, like me. They carry women's and men's fashion and jewelry, including Debbie Segal, Chan Luu, and Big Star jeans. The clothing is a lot of airy, white tunics for the summer season, coupled with turquoise, rosary-style jewelry, and other delicate charms and chains. There's a small sale rack in the back, if you're lucky, you can find a good deal.

I really love Muse. The place is really big, and there are clothes for every occasion. You'll find jeans, shoes, tops, dresses and more formal dresses for special occasions. The shop stocks some trendy pieces, but the fabrics and cuts are always a bit more classy than those you'll find in department stores and malls. I should also note the cute handbags and great jewelry- I could spend an hour gazing at the big jewelry display case in the front of the store. Cute little pins, earrings, necklaces, and bracelets. Items are a little pricey, but sometimes you can catch a good sale- head straight to the back to find those items.

I could not have been more pleasantly surprised. I'll give a short account of my visit: - Arrived and began looking at suits with my fiancee to get a feel for the color we wanted for our wedding. - A gentleman named Rob came over and offered to take me to the section with my size, and had me put on a few jackets. My fiancee had many questions, and Rob could not have been more helpful answering each. - Rob was terrifically respectful about mentioning the price of each suit, as well as more expensive options. I didn't feel slightly pressured to pay more. My budget was actually pretty high, but I was pleased with the way he handled it (a younger me with less money would have been happy). - Rob spent over an hour with me, helping me try on suits, answering my fiancee's questions, showing me suit fabrics (I'm going to have a custom suit made for my wedding), and eventually marking up the two suits I bought for work. Overall, I felt like I was the most important customer in the store. I will be a lifelong customer if everybody treats their customers like Rob did. Bonus: Rob mentioned that they would do the tailoring for my groomsmen's suits if we purchased them from a more affordable chain (most live out of town, and have more modest budgets), to make sure the fit is right.

It was hard to miss this bright green marker on Beale Street in frontof the original Lansky…read moreBrothers clothiers. If you're not familiar with the story, buckle in. The front of the marker reads, "Lansky Brothers was founded in 1946 by Bernard and Guy Lansky with a $125 investment from their father, S. L. Lansky. The store began at 126 Beale Street as an army surplus store, but gradually changed to accommodate customers interested in a one-of-a-kind look. At the time, Beale Street was the center of the African-American social and music scene in Memphis. Bernard traveled the country looking for unique product. Sometimes outrageous, always years ahead of anything else in town, many of the items were made of bright, vivid colors and silky fabrics. Lansky Brothers quickly became the fashion headquarters to musicians and the clothes savvy, including B.B. King, Isaac Hayes, David Porter, Carl Perkins, Johnny Cash, Jerry Lee Lewis and Rufus Thomas." And the reverse, "It was Elvis Presley who helped establish Bernard Lansky's "Clothier to the King" title and allowed for global recognition. Bernard recalls looking up one day and seeing a young man looking at his windows. He walked up to greet him and told him, "Come on in and let me show you around." The young man said "I don't have any money, Mr. Lansky, but when I get rich, I'm going to buy you out." Bernard told him "Don't buy me out. Just buy from me!" Lansky outfitted Elvis for his performances on the Ed Sullivan Show, Dorsey Brothers Show and the Louisiana Hayride. Bernard dressed Elvis in the Pink/Black combination, which defined the cool colors of the '50s era. The Lansky family has cultivated a legacy that is three generations now, and is still operating clothing stores in the lobby of the historic Peabody Hotel." Nice Jewish immigrants from Poland. It's a great story. The marker was erected in 2011 by the Lansky Family & Shelby County Historical Commission. It is in excellent condition. [Review 349 of 2024 - 480 in Tennessee - 21382 overall]
