Not only was the sponge and scrubby cover in great condition, the blue juice was clear and plentiful. My windshield was so much better to see through after that short stop. Speedway always seems higher, Marathon, Circle K and now Sunoco seem to have the competitive edge on this end of Gaylord. The pumps are incredibly easy to access from the south. From the north requires a left turn and some patience. They are easy to use and normally very efficient....... RANT ALERT: I couldn't get a receipt at the pump. Normally, a "whatever" moment, except that all of our transactions must be documented for tax purposes and it was an extremely cold, windy day. Wind chills around -10F. Must be Murphy's law or something because now I'm walking across the lot, in the cold, to the store. Did I mention it was the coldest day of the year? Brrrr and grrrrr. I begrudgingly make the walk inside only to meet some kid insisting I didn't see the prompts on the pump in advance. It happens all the time. Again, normally 'who cares' except now I am very cold, tired and am in no mood to be dismissed. I clearly saw and answered every question correctly and saw the buttons light up, accordingly. The kid argues further that his computer states that the printer and the pump show no errors and that every thing is functioning properly. What could you possibly be accomplishing by winning the disagreement with a customer? The likelihood that they won't be back. There's only 12 other nearby gas stations. I'll never understand this. As a result, I never made it into their mini-mart (which is where they earn a majority of their profits). I would still recommend the station. The gas prices prove to be among the lowest. She was on the phone for a while!! There was only one cashier and a big line up of people!! I put my drink back and walked out and went to Meijer gas station!! It has an EZ Mart which is usually heavily stocked with a huge selection. Their best quality is low gas prices. They're $.05 to $.15 cheaper than many stations in the city, $.20 to $.30 less than nearby Petoskey and always at least $.50 better than the EZ Mart in East Jordan. That's eight bucks cheaper for us. I need receipts for taxes and other expenditure reports. On our last four visits, the pump no longer prints them. Instead, I get a message telling me the clerk has my receipt. Why? Ironically, I used four different pumps (pumps 2,3,4 and 5). None gave me a receipt, forcing me to go inside and wait in line. If it's a simple case of falling behind on maintenance or waiting to have the pumps serviced, fine, please get it fixed. I've found over the years a few operators that use this to get you into the store where the money is made. In Michigan, stations don't make very much money on gas. Higher fuel costs and taxes have driven profits downward. It's twisted and wrong, but it's true. They might stay afloat on a good day at the pump, but the $$ are made in the mart. I can appreciate the tactic, but since we're typically running behind, it's not very convenient. Their prices are competitive for a service station, so I don't mind walking in, on occasion, to grab a coffee or snacks. But on my terms. They said "we are closed". I said "aren't you open until 11pm?". They said, "no, the company makes us close early". What a terribly run business. Will never go back to a Family Fare store or gas station ever. Terrible service!!!
