    Shupperd Law - Kevin Shupperd

    Shupperd Law

Hired Kevin a while back while he was working for another law firm. When he started his own…read morecompany, he asked if we wanted to stay with him, and we agreed and separated from the other firm. At that time he informed me that our cost for the case would not exceed the retainer we paid him We have a case that is still ongoing that is not a family law case. It wasn't until he started his own company we started to notice a shift. Several calls would go out with fails on his end to return said calls. Then he would finally answer and state "oh hey I was just getting ready to call you"! Yeah ok. We went through months of stuff we had to do to get ready to go into calendar and right before we were supposed to go on calendar, he calls and says he made a mistake and forgot to have me go though a state evaluation that was required for this case. It set us back over a year. After we got everything done, once again it's was a drawn out head ache. Countless unreturned phone calls. I finally asked if this had anything to do with our agreement of paid in full and he reassured me it wasn't, however we were starting to feel that he had other better paying clients and we were put on the back burner. After we submitted a form we had been waiting for, he instructed us to drop it off to his location. I didn't hear anything for several weeks and finally reached out yet again and he said he never received the paperwork I dropped off. He asked where we dropped it off at and I told him his front desk. He insisted I had the wrong office, however I'm quite sure it was the correct one as anyone knows his office it's hard to confuse it with anyone else's since his business cards are there, and his law firm name is not only at the door but also on the wall. The receptionist took my form and let me know he was in a meeting. I started to receive emails stating I owe money for services and I called to enquire about them. This was a little confusing since he mentioned when I came over to his law firm that he would handle the case without any additional fees. After reading other reviews, this seems to be a thing with him. I refused to pay it since he agreed to do the case and not exceed the retainer. At this point I had it. I asked for my file and told the lady at the counter that I was terminating him as our attorney. He never reached out by phone to discuss the matter, instead he sent me a very snarky email stating that I was in the wrong and he never once owned anything that he did wrong. It was all my fault. I responded to the email pointing out where he was wrong, and never received any response back. Now I'm out thousands of dollars that do not reflect the work he did. We contacted several other attorneys after this and all questioned Kevin's handling of the case and didn't understand why certain things weren't done correctly. I would highly, highly, think twice before you retain his services.

DON'T HIRE KEVIN SHUPPERD. The first thing Kevin wanted us to do after retaining him for 12…read morethousand dollars was write him a review. Well we agreed but as time went on the idea of writing a great review for Kevin just seemed impossible Don't hire this Guy he is all talk. Pay me 12,000 up front and you avoid my hourly rate and it covers you all the way through trial is what we were told face to face by Kevin. After almost two years of court and finishing pretrial Kevin got mad at us because he again failed to get information from the opposing to us in time to review. When I say he failed to get information to us, I mean he literally gave it to us the morning of mediation. Mediation was at 9am and he got us the paperwork 830am and told us the night before if we didn't attend we would be held in contempt. At that same time he also didn't inform us that the "lawyer" assisted mediation, that's right our lawyer needed a mediator (lawyer) assist his lawyering!! When we resisted like every time he sent us stuff too late, he did what he has done every time from the time we hired him. He used all his skills from school to debate to with us , not the opposing counsel, like every time he screwed up. He blamed us for his failures and bad work after paying him up front 12 grand. We thought we found a somebody that cared about our children welfare and well-being but Kevin only cares about one thing that dollar. After having his friend Matt sit in for him because he couldn't attend the lawyer assisted mediation, which he informed us the night before that he double scheduled it with another case, he told us we would be held in contempt if we didn't attend the mediation session. Then the next morning before mediation at 9am, a half hour before, at 830am he sends us the proposed judgment from the opposing party to review. We had a half hour to review material from the opposing party!! Our lawyers response attend of be held in contempt. I have the emails to prove it. Then at the last minute after talking to Matt his buddy about how unprofessional that was, Kevin sends the Judge a email to move the lawyer assisted mediation because he double booked. Wow, that was different than what he told us. We would be held in contempt. We were so worried we would be stonewalled in mediation without our lawyer. After all that worry was over the next day Kevin decides that he is going to withdrawal from being our counselor and QUIT after paying him in full to go through trial all of sudden "that 12k was only to get you through to "pre-trial" is his story now, and the story changed. Now we are left with Kevin telling us we have to get a retain new counsel when mediation is to be rescheduled in the next few weeks!! If that is not leaving you high and dry I don't know what is. What we have realized working with Kevin is he is completely unprofessional and unorganized. He continually sent us information last minute to review with no real time to review. If you want a lawyer that only wants to argue with you and not the opposing lawyer then Kevin Shupperd is the lawyer for you. I recommended others to him and they hired him and we have been told he confused that person with another persons case all together and that in her opinion he has too much work to do and has repeatedly gotten stuff to her too late and not done what he says he going to do. I will be posting this everywhere possible to save parents struggling to find a good lawyer to do right by their children. Funny thing is the Home Study we had to go through too for the 3rd time was 32,000 dollars and mediation sessions 100s of dollars too, and deposiitons . Kevin thinks he took all we had left, and that we have nothing left to fight but he is wrong. When it comes to our kids we have all the fight in the world. The lawyer is not gonna do what he says he will do for you. Your better off going anywhere else. Anywhere
