When I asked about it and explained I was half Italian from Bologna I was told 'they don't do olive oil.' I am a highly educated culinary person and don't insult us. So disappointed Tonno (tuna) grilled just no taste. Grilled sole that my husband has was average. When you have a chef influencer as a daughter our palates are not novice. Decoration reminds me of Greek islands (Cyclades to be precise), but not in a kitchy way. No baby seat, but conventional chairs to fit our "sack and seat". The waitresses was not fluent in English, but able to communicate for our purpose (hurray!). She was also very kind, sweet and helpful. So we had the antipasti sampler to start with. There were 7 little plates coming one after the other. Then we carried on with the chef's special (pasta with garlic and chickpeas) and a seafood spaghetti. Finished with fried calamari and side salad. After all these, there was no room left for desert. Overall I really enjoyed our lunch and I would go back if ever visit Pescara again.

Very nice ambience wherever you decide to stay, whether outdoors in the front by the Baroque Church or in their beautiful internal garden, or in their dining room inside. Food was excellent with quality ingredients, expertise in combining flavours that clearly comes from decades of homemade cooking style this family-run venue is famous for. A place where the locals flock and as you taste the flavours you understand why. Homemade pasta with mushrooms and truffles, grilled meats and an excellent pizza selection right out of a wood-burning oven, La Taverna offers something for all tastes. Service was quite attentive and could be improved. All in all, a lovely wine & dine experience in one of Pescara's loveliest 17th century quarters. Will certainly return.
