Murat's Tailoring did a great job altering my designer wedding dress from a Size 12 to a Size 6.

Murat's Tailoring did an AMAZING job at altering my off-the-rack wedding dress from a Size 12 to a Size 6. The dress was a Watters silk organza ball gown with at least seven layers of tulle underneath. The tailor was able to take in the bodice as well as shorten the gown. The owner was responsive in understanding what I wanted done to the dress and the tailor did so with great skill and efficiency. The owner was also understanding and flexible when I ended up losing additional weight in the last couple weeks before my wedding. It wasn't a cheap tailoring job, but for what I paid received safe and proper handling of my expensive designer dress, which fit to a tee.

Meryem asked my daughter what she was thinking and listened to her wishes. Meryem gave her suggestions - and explained why! YAY!! The dress came out perfectly and my daughter received so many compliments. We easily scheduled the appointments for both the first and second fittings. You will receive one-to-one service since it is a small shop with a personal touch. The value of the work is beyond reasonable. Meryem's talent is beyond explanation. I would recommend Meryem at Tata's Distinctive Tailoring to anyone looking for a personalized, talented, and skilled seamstress.

I had the most amazing experience going to Meryem for my wedding gown alterations. I bought my…read moredress off the rack only 2 months before my wedding, and I went to see Meryem to shorten the straps, tighten the top, and add a bustle. Less than a month before the wedding, I decided I'd really like sleeves. Meryem told me if I bring her the fabric, she will make them for me. I brought in the fabric and an inspiration picture and I am absolutely amazed with the results. Not only did my dress fit perfectly, it was a one of a kind piece of art. Even better than the inspiration picture. Meryem is so talented, and very considerate of making sure it's done with extra time to spare before the event. This is the best place to go for your tailoring and alteration needs.

When selecting my gown, the owners both advertised the ability to add lace to the bottom of the gown - saying that they would source the lace and stitch it on. That was the only reason I said yes to that gown - because of the vision that Mina had provided on what the gown could look like. Between March and September, they did not source the lace, requiring me to source it myself. Additionally, they were not communicative or responsive throughout the process. Based on these issues, I informed Mina I was obtaining a new seamstress and wanted to pick up my gown - she advised she had not done the alterations, and that it would be ready for pickup. When I picked it up, she had completed alterations with haste so they were not done nearly to the degree of proficiency that they should have been - if I wasn't planning to take the dress, she would have had to completely redu them. She also wanted to charge me a ridiculous amount of money for completing alterations that I did not ask her to do. The shop does have gorgeous dresses at a fair price, but it's not worth the stress that comes with an unreliable seamstress.

The only problem was I didn't (or didn't want to) factor in the tightness of the pants rental. In one of my signature gyrations, I lowered my body down towards the floor, only to hear a heart-wrenching popping noise. When I came up, the pants were assuredly cleaved in two, with only my badonkadonk and my passion for pop cover bands to blame. There seemed no way to fix the problem. I was forlorn. Compounding the issue, I needed to return the pants to the rental company in three days. Not only did the talented tailor at Tasia fix the pants with, what I can only assume is some type of sorcery borne from the dark arts, but he managed to do it in not just days, but HOURS. I can't say enough good things about this sartorial magician and this tailor shop. Feel safe in the knowledge that if he/they can fix a wardrobe malfunction caused by an uncontrollable derrière, they can assuredly produce any alteration you need.

I came in asking for my wedding gown to NOT be hemmed but instead get something added to the dress so I can carry it (think bustle/ wristlet). Once the lady understood I would NOT be paying her for a complete tailoring she became stand off ish and made me feel stupid for asking for this "unconventional" service. I then asked how much she would charge me to hem my dress and she said starting price: $880!! Cash only is also very odd. Fast forward a few days, I took my gown to another seamstress who said she adds wristlets all the time and can easily hide the fabric in the seams. She charged me $20. When I asked how much she'd charge me for a full hem, she said: $220. I highly recommend going somewhere else. There is a great seamstress in west Hartford. This place is off.
