They listened to my wrist injury (doctor's orders: no exercises on my hands), made thoughtful modifications, and ensured I still got a great workout. Unfortunately, my last class on July 22 with Erik Payne was a very different experience. From the start, his tone felt curt and dismissive when I explained my injury. He adjusted my setup in a way that made my modifications harder, and when I tried to get his attention, his responses felt snappy rather than supportive. Even after reminding him multiple times about my limitation, he continued to suggest exercises I couldn't do, and when I chose safe alternatives, he questioned me sharply in front of others. I became so uncomfortable that I left the class early and decided not to return for the remainder of my pass. It's disappointing because the other coaches were fantastic and truly made me feel welcomed and cared for. I hope this feedback helps ensure all clients -- especially those with injuries -- receive the same level of understanding and support.

I do not like rowing. I am a huge/daily Orangetheory Fitness workout gal. However, this class changed my mind. I immediately was drawn into the class because of the lighting and music. I felt like I was in a nightclub! I was pleasantly surprised every rower had a towel. I am a sweater and always have to have a towel for workouts. I appreciate that they provide them! I have had too many workouts when I forget a towel and then I have to pat myself with paper towels from the bathroom. I am unsure if my class was actually what a class is like because I think they tried to give us a tasting of everything / different types of areas to focus on. Thankfully it was not continuous rowing. I would not like that. The longest row was a 3 minute row for distance at the end. We got off the rower three times for different exercises with dumbbells. There was standing exercises, laying on the mat then the final was core work. Overall, I liked it more than I thought. There is a lot of playing with the lights. For all out rows they turn the lights off and everyone goes hard and the music pumping! I love that! Throughout the workout there is a screen that shows the stats of the class - average of strokes per minute, average of time for 500 meter row, and the total meters rowed of the class. These stats were how they pace rowing at the same time - following the instructor. During this class I had three coaches: Anna, Aoife, and Hope. They were all awesome and brought different types of energy! I am intrigued to attend some of their themed classes. I love a theme with music and dress up! I do not like rowing enough to continue with an unlimited membership. However, I am considering attending maybe once a week (4 class pack per month membership). If you like unique workout classes (and especially if you like rowing) this is something you have to do!

I got to try this the first time when my friend was subbing, and she totally kicked my butt. The class was a great workout on a Sunday morning and left me sore for honestly 3 days. She kicked my butt in that class. The second time, I took it with Christy. She was a such a fun and awesome instructor, really enjoyed her a lot! I think with my prior training and cardio workouts got me to keep up with her class and not stay sore for too long! (Thanks Alyssa for the heads up on these classes haha). I love how cute the studio is. Very clean and simple. The decor is small and adorable for the studio and provides pretty much everything that you need. Only need to bring your own towel and water bottle and you're good to go! If I'm actually in RVA during the weekends, you bet your butt I'll be taking a morning class again here!

I would recommend the Groupon because you'll definitely want to go more than once! I had my first class with Christy, the owner, and already have my next two scheduled. The classes are small which is nice after the year we've had and it allows for one on one assistance from the instructor. After a fairly lazy pregnancy and recovery I needed and appreciated the extra instruction! With that being said I was nervous for my first class but Christy made it easy to modify the steps. I was still covered in sweat and burned 500 calories before I left. As a new client I felt super welcome and can't wait to go back!

It all started with the day after I became a member, I had an appointment to get my free health/ body analysis. But when I showed up, the trainer was too busy to do it. So I rescheduled it a few days later and the he never show up. Wtf... At that point, I didn't care about it anymore. Fast forward to 2017 and my locker was broken into at about 10pm. Luckily, I didn't have any money in it, but my car keys were missing. So not only did I have to get my car towed to Midlothian, but then I had to pay $300 for a new fob. There is a sign in the locker room that says not responsible for lost or stolen items. And I understand that, but when I told them what happened, all they did was offer me something from the cafe and issue me a new keychain card. When I talked to the guy at the front desk about my locker, he did say he saw someone rush out with a suspicious long bar, but he didn't get a good look at him. So when I asked about the video camera at the locker room entrance, that was also no help at all. Lastly, when I asked if they could catch the guy if he tried using my old keychain card, they told me there was no way to tell when that particular card gets used. Smh... At that point, I called it quits. The whole situation was just very disappointing... Another annoying thing is that no matter what day or time I go to this gym, even if it's the middle of the summer, most of the ceiling fans are off or on the low setting. Smh... If I want to sweat that bad, I'd prefer to go in the sauna... As I said in my previous reviews, I do like this gym. And if you can get past all the wannabes taking pics of themselves, video chatting, and the million other annoying and inconsiderate things they do that can be pretty distracting during a workout, this place would be pretty awesome. This place has pretty much everything that anyone could ask for in a gym. Yes, the price is a little higher than most other gyms, but you pretty much get what you pay for...

However I can't really get with a gym who uses their managers to spy on patrons under the guise of working out in their off hours. I film my workouts for form and as I was filming an otherwise anonymous gym goer identified herself by name as Valerie as "one of the managers here" and informed me I couldnt film while other people were on the floor. Reason being some people may not want to be filmed. Fine reasoning although with the signage on the door saying only people 18 and older are allowed in the gym it's crazy to me that this person chose to speak for other grownups. I get it, policies are there and they apply to everyone. Doesn't make it any less ridiculous and that "manager" is unprofessional. First and last time at this location for sure.

Here's my impression after the first week: Signing up for membership was challenging. The price we were quoted over the phone was different than what we were told when we showed up to join. And actually we had an appointment with the membership director and he was on vacation and everyone from membership was gone so one of the front desk attendants gave us a tour. They also gave us a pass to the weekend to make up for the debacle. When we showed up on Saturday we met with someone in membership and that's when the pricing changed because what we were quoted only covered 3 people. So we paid extra for the fourth and our fifth couldn't join because the cost of their membership was too high and she is a student (my daughter). She is 26 so that's why she has to have her own membership. I get it. Also the hot tub and rooftop pool is extra, so be aware. They also have a Recovery area that includes infrared saunas and cold plunge, plus a variety of other equipment. That's an extra charge too, but the first month is free so you can check it out. Other than that miscommunication, it's been pretty seamless. Every staff member I've encountered has been professional and super helpful. Kudos to the center for hiring great people. Any kind of exercise you could possibly want to do is under the roof of acac or at one of their other facilities. The classes and yoga studio is top notch. I've done a few classes and also yoga, signed up for the egym and have used the hot tub, sauna, plunge, etc., and it's all been good. It's only a week in and I feel right at home and motivated to work out every day. I still have so much more to try! I love that I can do something different everyday so I don't get bored. Joining acac costs more but so far it's worth it for us.

First, let me set the scene: I joined this gym before the location even opened and remained a…read moremember for almost 10 years. When I moved to Hanover, I had to let my membership go because I simply couldn't drive that far every time I wanted to work out. Since then, I've continued to support the gym as a guest instructor, helping with multiple classes--including set-up for Halloween and other special events--often using my own personal décor and supplies so the members could enjoy a fun and memorable Zumba experience. Both the previous manager and the one before that understood my situation and appreciated my ongoing contributions to the Monday night Zumba classes. There has never been an issue--until recently. A new front desk employee has become increasingly overbearing, rude, and aggressive. I completely understand if there are new rules or policy changes, but her approach is unacceptable. Her rules seem to change day by day, and she even charged three members $25 each for a one-day guest pass. During November--when Mondays were specifically advertised as "Open House Mondays"--she still attempted to block guests from attending the Monday night Zumba class. When confronted, she began removing the open-house signs posted throughout the gym, but she missed one, which I photographed for proof. On top of this, she involved the manager of the personal training department, who has no connection to the Group X team. That manager then entered the Zumba class, took the microphone, and scolded the entire room--calling out a member's daughter by name. Her interruption caused the class to start late and embarrassed participants to the point where a new member even raised her hand to ask a question as if we were schoolchildren. The unprofessional, holier-than-thou tone was completely unnecessary and disruptive. I have tried to keep my concerns to myself, but after seeing this gym receive an award for "Gym of the Year," I could no longer stay quiet. Zumba consistently brings in more members than nearly any other class. I have personally witnessed non-Zumba classes with only one to three participants. Alienating your largest and most loyal group of members is not a sustainable strategy. The Zumba community is tightly connected, and negative experiences spread quickly. If the current treatment continues, you will see members leave simply because they feel disrespected and treated as second-class. At this point, the behavior described is damaging your members' experience and your instructors' ability to do their jobs. I strongly urge management to intervene immediately and real change is seen Nicole and Mara are the employees
