The studio truly went above and beyond, even creating an outdoor stage approved by the city so classes could continue safely. We are so grateful for that commitment. Since 2020, we've experienced a genuine sense of camaraderie and family every step of the way. The owners are incredibly dedicated, always ensuring that each child's experience is purposeful, supportive, and focused on growth. We also love the variety of dance styles offered and the quality of the instructors. They are truly exceptional. Their programs are of award-winning caliber, and the musical theater program is easily one of the best in the city.

Rarely was someone at the front desk and when there was, she was usually rather cold and aloof. I sent 5-6 emails over the course of our time, even offering to help out with the recital and never received a response. When I finally emailed to pause our membership for the Summer, it was just cancelled - no questions, no acknowledgement, just stopped charging.

Arguably the best Armenian and International studio in the nation…read more Unlike most people who started here at a young age, I came in as an older dancer in my 20's. I had a not so good experience at other Armenian dance studios with unfairness, body shaming, disrespect, and to be honest an overall lack of dance knowledge. I wanted to get back into Armenian dance and was recommended Hayastan Cultural Center. Hayastan has literally everything you would want for your child and for yourself ! They have proper discipline while being fair, all of the teachers are so knowledgeable, you can also grow within your role. They definitely push you and you would have to put some work and effort into it, commitment is key. You should look forward to going to class and it shouldn't be something that you dread or feels like a chore. I was only there for a short amount of time but it made a lasting impression on me. They have various genres, themes, and new exciting choreography every week. If you're doing a Ukrainian dance for example or a Georgian dance, they get it right on the dot with historically accurate choreography and precision . I think one of my favorite moments was learning about the history of a specific Armenian dance. I Shout out to the instructors Paron Tigran, Ovsanna, Vicky, Rebek- they have such creativity and there is never a dull show or recital. They always make sure you can portray the emotion correctly in the dance too. Your children will definitely find a place to belong here and can rely on them for guidance. As a dancer turned into a parent, I definitely recommend bringing your child here and I will always support them because of my positive experience here !

I've even booked private sessions with instructors just to nail down routines. So if that sounds familiar, keep reading--because by the end of this, you might just be signing up for your first class. I've been a proud member of the Groove Zone community for nearly two years now, and honestly, I can't say enough great things about the instructors and the entire program. Yolanda Thomas, the owner and lead instructor, is a force of nature--an incredibly kind, passionate, and inspiring human who truly cares about every single person who steps through the studio doors. Her motto? "If you think you can't dance, I bet ya I can teach ya how to." (Spoiler alert: She can.) Thanks to Groove Zone, I've performed at two South Bay Lakers halftime shows and even hit the floor at a WNBA halftime performance at Crypto Arena--in front of 15,000 people. Yeah... 15,000. Never in my life did I think I'd perform in front of a live audience, let alone an arena crowd. It's the kind of rush you can't describe--and an experience most people never get the chance to have. And the community? Pure gold. The dancers I've met have become friends, cheerleaders, and my biggest supporters. There's zero judgment in the studio--because we're all there for the same reasons: to learn something new, break a sweat, and most importantly--have fun. Big shoutout to another powerhouse instructor: Manuela. She might seem intimidating at first (because let's be real--she's an absolute beast on the dance floor), but she is hilarious, supportive, and knows her stuff inside and out. She pushes you to grow, step outside your comfort zone, and leave class drenched in sweat--but in the best way possible. When it's time to hit the stage, she'll make sure you're 100% performance ready. And if you're not? She'll tell you that too--but with honesty, compassion, and the goal of making sure next time, you'll own that stage. That's how Groove Zone rolls: real talk, real support, real results. Take it from me--don't do what I did. I walked into my first class... got overwhelmed... and walked right back out. It took me a year to return. Don't let your nerves hold you back like that. Instead, challenge yourself. Step outside your comfort zone. Join a community of people who love to dance just as much as you want to. You don't have to be Justin Timberlake or Britney Spears. (I'm definitely not!) You just have to show up, bring your energy, make some new friends, and get one hell of a workout while you're at it. And when the day comes that you see yourself on a Jumbotron at a packed stadium, absolutely killing it in a halftime performance--don't say I didn't warn you about how badass you'd feel.

My background is in education and I have worked at elementary, middle, and high school levels as well as a kid's soccer coach so I have some context for how easy/tough it is to teach classes. Our ballet teacher was Ms. Natalie and my wife and I both thought she had a very caring demeanor for working with children. That is something you don't teach. Even though a 1.5 year old can't listen to direction the way a 3, 4, or 5 year old can Ms. Natalie adapted well and tried different things to get our daughter's attention. The studio is nice and well decorated. Parking is easy in the shopping center. We definitely intend on going back. We had a great experience.

We had to switch classes for scheduling reasons and are currently with Miss Emily. She's very engaging with both the students and the parents. She makes sure to keep us all informed about what our little ones are learning, even giving feedback and updates on progress. The customer service has been very top notch too. Most inquiries or requests for rescheduling has been handled quite promptly and without issue. The most recent one being helping a fellow mom take advantage of the "bring a friend to class" promotion the studio was running last month. The studio admin, Sydney, was great and handled everything! We've participated in one recital so far. Sign ups for recitals are optional, so I did not know what to expect, but I certainly didn't think that my daughter was the only one from her class that signed up. My other guess is that not many other girls from that age group signed up either, as she had to perform with just one other student who she didn't know. It was not a long performance, which was to be expected. We're unsure as to why the littlest ones went first, as they set the tone for the rest of their peers, giving the impression that going up on stage has to be a daunting and traumatizing experience. It was my daughter's first time on stage, so I can't say it went fantastically, but I also can't put too much blame on anyone else for that. If anything, it just means she needs to have more classes so she can get better! I can't seem to find out if there are any offers to provide discounts for sibling sign ups, so I hope you guys consider doing something like that in the future!

I think we had a total of 6-7 classes, but after the second class, we had the entire routine down - it was all just about perfecting it. Lucia came up with the entire dance, after we expressed our song and vision to her. She even edited the music. She was so friendly, her schedule was so flexible, and she took advantage of each minute of every class. We really lucked out with her. She is so incredibly talented, and it shows. Our wedding was about a month ago and people don't stop talking about our first dance. The choreography was so amazing. It should also be noted that neither myself not my husband are dancers in any way! Thank you Lucia! Do not think twice about using her for your first dance choreography. The thing I love most about there is that they have is tic toes that will teach you the skills and the foundations do dance while still making it fun. I need a balance of technique and fun and they deliver! I have had the esteemed pleasure of working with and competing with many of the instructors, I've learned a multitude of dances, had incredible support and the most fun I've had pretty much anywhere. Dance itself can be almost addictive once you jump in and boy what better place to get those endorphins in while learning than at a place like this? I went from knowing virtually nothing and feeling very overwhelmed (in a good way) about any partner style dance, (I also didn't have a background in other forms of dance) and threw myself in entirely to then be at my first salsa competition a year later. I'm so glad I made that investment. I've warned lifelong friends and memories. They have knowledgeable teachers, kind staff, a wonderful space and always something fun going on. I have worked with the owner, Raul, the amazing Artem, the show stopping Yesenia, the bubbly Deana, the sassy Jackie and many others during my time there. The knowledge and experience I now possess makes me feel comfortable in most dance settings, socially or otherwise. If you're looking for a place to learn and have fun...this is it!

Patsy and all of the teachers who teach for her are very professional and know what they're talking about. We learn routines but there's a lot of importance placed on really trying to make students better dancers instead of just teaching something new every week, which is something i really like. Another thing I like about the studio is that Patsy is nice but she's honest too. She tells you when you're doing something wrong, which is good because it helps me work harder and, honestly, I don't want to pay money to have someone tell me I'm fantastic when I'm not. Patsy has a lot of classes for teenagers and children younger than that but she also has classes for adults. Being a part of the studio provides students with lots of performing opportunities, which is another way dancers here are pushed to improve. In response to Danielle C: I'm not trying to start any trouble with you, but I began taking lessons with Patsy at her Eagle Rock location shortly before she had to move. It's a bit of a drive but I love the program so much that I make the drive from Eagle Rock to North Hollywood multiple times a week to take classes with Patsy. I also felt like I had enough notice before the move, it was sprung pretty quickly on her as well. It is not Patsy's fault that your daughter had to miss a bunch of lessons after you paid for a month's worth. Patsy did her best to contact everyone in the short amount of time that she had. My friends that were in my classes with me in Eagle Rock are also still with Patsy. Everyone misses class from time to time but you either make the class up or accept the fact that you missed a lesson, you don't blame the teacher for it. You can't demand a refund when it wasn't Patsy's fault your daughter didn't take the classes you paid for. She is definitely NOT a fraud. If anything, she's the opposite of that. I joined to get dancing experience before I had to audition for college musical theatre programs and I have been more than satisfied with all that I've learned. Patsy provides you with so many opportunities that anything is possible as long as you have the determination to work hard and get better.
