I encountered this day care while they were on an outing at the Barbara Hall Park splash pad. I was…read moreextremely impressed by the two teachers (Marley and Tanya) supervising the group of 3 and 4 year olds. All the kids were very well behaved and I think a lot of credit goes towards how the two teachers interacted with them. Always watching but not hovering, friendly and warm but also nicely and firmly telling the kids the rules. What I was most impressed with is how they handled all the communal toys that were provided by 519 church. Something the other day cares that circled through did not do. The teachers told the kids that they were there for the splash pads and to leave the toys alone. The kids listened. This helped prevent a lot of conflict that would have arisen between the day care kids and the other kids who were there for the center. After playtime I saw all the kids take out their towels and their snack/lunch and sit nicely off to the side. There was no shouting or yelling. All the kids knew what they had to do and the teachers were there to assist if need be. Very impressed.

Our daughter is excited to go there in the morning and, in the evening, she's had a full and adventurous day. Gloria's great about teaching about sharing and has even started potty training (our daughter is 18 months). The space is completely child oriented, full of stimulating toys and has a cozy sleeping area and kitchen down stairs. My understanding is that it has has been regularly inspected by the ministry and is up to code and that the primary reason why it is not licensed is there is no outdoor play area, which is simply not possible in their current location. However almost every day Gloria takes the kids to various parks, the library, and drop in centers in the neighborhood and regularly takes further excursions including the Riverdale Farm, science center, and strawberry picking. On these outings, Gloria's often meets up with the other Play 'n Stay located near Broadview and Gerrard, which is also owned by Gloria and Sultan and run by Gina. Since we've been there, Gloria has had 5 kids ranging from 9 months to 3 years. This has been a good age-mix for our daughter as it's like a big family where the bigger kids stimulate and interact with the younger ones. Gloria regularly does circle time with singing, activities, and art. She gives them nutritious hot breakfast and lunch and plenty of snacks with fruits and veggies. In the evenings she gives us an update on the naps, bowel movements, and eating and generally how they has gone. When we're concerned about our daughter--if she's feeling under the weather or otherwise--we can text and get prompt responses through out the day. We feel close with the families of the Play 'n Stay, and we feel fortunate to be part of this tight community. We regularly meet them at the parks and farmers markets in the evenings or on the weekends and we communicate over email about important issues relating to raising our kids. It's hard to describe how reassuring it is to know how much love and care Gloria has for our our daughter and the rest of the kids at Play 'n Stay. She and Sultan work incredibly hard to provide a truly wonderful environment and big extended family for our daughter.

Gloria has been an attentive and loving care provider - she is lime a second mother to him and he absolutely loves his time there (I know this because he asks to go on weekends if we pass by). The 20+ years experience really show. Her play based activities encourage the kids to interact with each other while being given lots of learning and cognitive development time too. They mix in lots of arts and crafts, circle time, outdoor activities and even field trips that are done in conjunction with a local Parent Resources drop in centre (Riverdale Farm, strawberry picking, Centre Island, etc). Weather permitting the kids are out every day. The food is nutritious and adventurous too. It is without question that I would recommend Play 'n Stay to any prospective parents looking for quality home-based care. I completely trust the wonderful staff and the programs are suitable for the children. They let the children explore and learn through play. There isn't a push for knowing everything, which I like, and there is freedom for the kids to do what they like and just have fun! I am Christian as well, and they are really good at bringing God's love in their teachings and programs. They offer a very welcoming environment and have 2 meaningful concerts every year at Christmas and Easter. They also have very competitive pricing compared to other daycares in the area.

ON the logistics front: We are able to drop both kids in the morning, and the teachers walk the JK and SK kids to nearby schools. Several of the teachers have been here more than 10 years, including the wonderful director, Jola. The day care has a huge gym space and a lovely outdoor play area. We have been allowed to access the videos that show what's happening during the day. Believe me, we didn't wait the end of the day to remove our Kid from this place and never bring it anymore. They were brusque with him and the other kids. We've seen one of the girls forcing him to release his bunny because they said: "he can't have it when he eats". They have a very particular way to get the kids to sleep, they just show no love, no emotions, put them on the bed and swing them strongly until they fall asleep. We assisted to a fire alarm exercise and that was just worrying. People seem to be annoyed when I left him and I had to wait until they agree who is going to take him from my arms. You definitely don't want your kid stay in those hands.

Mrs. Remtulla, the previous director of education, was more "in-touch" with the school. You can see how truly she loved the school and she genuinely cared. On the other hand as soon as her daughter, Ms. Remtulla took over, things started going bad. Once the high school was added, grade eights had no graduation because they expected you to continue on to the high school. When asked about the graduations teachers and the principal said it was the director's idea and we couldn't do anything about it. My parents have paid for over 10 years of tuition and uniforms only to be told there was no graduation. This school is not worth the tuition especially if you are in middle school and thinking about going here. If you are in grade 7, you will be in the Stouffville campus and there the campus is trash. Sometimes the water doesn't work, sometimes the heating doesn't work and sometimes the water isn't clean. I strongly advise you to go to a public school instead to save the money. Some teachers genuinely don't care about you and most of the good teachers have left. Some of the teachers I had had no idea what they were teaching and they wrote tests based off of things they don't even know. Some teachers have clear favourites and a lot of them get mad at some other students for no apparent reason. One teacher I had yelled at one of my classmates when they were correcting her about their name. She called him one name and he was trying to tell her that wasn't his name and then she sent him to the office. To get to the gym, you need to take a hike to get there. The gym is secluded behind a bunch of trees. We had to hike in the snow there for gym classes. Overall, this school isn't worth the cost especially for the higher grades. Good luck.

Great selection of After School programs. Parking is a little over crowded during peak pick up and drop off hours. They do realize that and are planning an underground parking in the future. Like all schools, having the right teacher who gets along with the child and parent is the best fit. And to be realistic, this cannot always be the case. We did encounter some teachers that did not fit well with my children, but the administrators can take care help if you voice out. Overall, this is a good school. Children are very happy here and have made a lot of friends of all classes.
