They advised me that to get into the trans and change that, they should replace the whole transmission for a couple hundred more, otherwise they couldn't guarantee the work. And they charged $150 for this "diagnosis". They wanted thousands of dollars for a new transmission, and I was stuck because I couldn't take the emissions test to renew my plates with a check engine light on. Brought it to Tony's Transmissions, and he replaced the sensor in a few days for a few hundred dollars. I can't remember the exact amount because I paid cash and it was about a year ago, but I just saw his business pop up when I was doing a search and remembered that I should have left him a review back then. He really did great work. Check engine light was off, car passed emissions, and we drove it for another year before selling it a friend for his teenage son. Car is still running strong.

Pricing with parts and labor was very reasonable.

I was planning on…read moreleaving that day as I had to get back to my home in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan and I had the belt under my hood snap. I scrambled to find an auto repair store and I stumbled upon D & D Transmissions. A man named Dave came out and looked at my car. He diagnosed the problem right away and told me he could fix it within the next 3 hours. I would also like to add that when I looked at the store hours posted on the door his shop wasn't supposed to be open that day, but he gave me the help I needed. Sure enough he gave me a call an hour earlier than expected and said the car was all set to go. It was fixed up and I traveled home that same day with no issues! I give my highest regards to Dave and D & D Transmissions for helping me out in a time of need!

Regardless of the issues I could not get anyone to answer my cries for help on the normal online forums. Maybe the symptoms were something folks have never experienced? Regardless, I have an aftermarket transmission which makes me nervous about going to the dodge dealership. I noticed positive reactions on Yelp for D&D Transmissions and decided to try them out. I noticed that D & D does much more than just transmissions. The owner was very respectful of my worries and my controlling attitude. I normally like to do work on my vehicle. But due to my living conditions I cannot do this type of work. I came to him with an idea I had a failing governor solenoid. The owner quoted me over the phone for the work before he even had time to look at my vehicle. I dropped it off and he did some quick diagnostics, called me back before doing the work, and then proceeded to follow my wishes. His quote was decent at $400. This included replacing the governor solenoid, governor sensor, fluid, and the transmission filter. Just the cost of parts would be between 200 and 300 dollars. The job was completed within a decent time frame and they accept all major credit cards. After all the details above, I recommend D&D Transmissions. Although I have only one experience with the repair shop, I will be going back with any vehicle issues. It is difficult to find trustworthy auto shops around this area. Most are mainstream "chain" repair shops with people that don't care a lot about the work they do. D&D clearly has an owner who is caring and takes pride in his work.

My two previous honest, trustworthy mechanics had retired years ago. I had resorted to going into a dealership, but felt that I was being pushed to get me to spend unnecessary money and/or being overcharged for things which maybe didn't need to be done. During the recent January cold spell, my battery started acting up. Then it conked out. Fortunately, a friend had discovered JNJ. He was quite pleased with Ojay's work, honesty, and fair prices for several repairs on his car. I called early on 1/22/25. I told Ojay I needed a new battery. He got all my info and said he would try to get a battery asap. Within an hour, he called me back. He had a battery. We set up an appointment for noon time when he had an opening in his schedule. I mentioned how the dealership was emailing and pressuring me for several months to get new tires. He said he would check that out. Ojay is fantastic. Angie at the front desk is top notch. The battery replacement didn't take very long. Oscar said my tires had more than 50% tread left - no need to buy new ones yet. With Ojay I felt that I was being treated fairly, honestly, and respectfully. Excellent service. I will be taking my car to JNJ for all future repairs and servicing on my car.

It ended up being something with my driving axles(?) not sure if that's the right term, but regardless I feel like I am driving a brand new car. No shaking at all! Bottom line - if you want to get quality work done and avoid wasting your time take your business to Cars in Oak Forest.

The problem I had is that after they finished, I had what appeared to be dirt all around my leather steering wheel, which when I used plain wet (water only) paper towels to wipe off, whatever the substance was, stripped all my leather off my steering wheel! I suspect the substance was probably brake fluid? Just be warned that they don't care about the inside of your vehicle as far as making sure they're not leaving your interior filthy! I don't know how they could turn over your vehicle back to you with the steering wheel being so filthy, with a corrosive substance so strong to remove all the leather off! No issues with their mechanical qualifications though. You might want to put covers on your seats and cover the steering wheel somehow if you get brake work done!
