Please note they are a tad greasy and again, large. So don't come in for just a snack! The meat on both were the superstars. They also are a full butchery (they even have a subscription box!). So there are meats in the case and marinated options galore. We came for breakfast but left with some chicken and red meat options for dinner this week. It's a tad expensive for both sandwiches and the meats but all in all seem right for the quality. Service was also fast and friendly. Very knowledgeable and ready to help. We got street parking but there's also a small lot it's attached to. There's some counter seating outside you can eat at once you order. Would def recommend!

They prepare 10lbs of premium meat cuts and package it up in the Ox Box. We talked to the gentleman who took our order and we may sign up. Pickup of Ox Boxes is the 3rd Thursday of each month. Of course $12 for three sausages isn't particularly sustainable for a lot of us, but when it's a special occasion or you're wanting to treat yourself, it's very worth it :) The staff is great, and the place is located in an area a lot of parking and close to balboa. The basil pesto was also really yummy, I added a little lemon to it because I love a little more citrus in mine and it really made all the flavors pop.

In the past, this was the place to go if you wanted that old-school butcher shop experience and some of the best carne asada around. Unfortunately, my visit yesterday was disappointing. The meat selection seemed mediocre compared to what I remember. The carne asada was cut into small pieces (around 6 inches across) and was already pre-marinated. Years ago, the cuts were much larger, making them easier to grill and far more visually appealing. Back then, if you wanted it marinated, they would do it fresh for about $1 more per pound. That level of service made a difference. The young man behind the counter also gave me the impression that he really didn't care about my concerns, which only added to the disappointment. After cooking it, the carne asada just wasn't the same. It seemed dry and lacked the flavor and quality I had always associated with this market. I'm willing to give them one more chance in case this was just an off day. But if my next experience is the same, it will unfortunately be my last visit.
