Split Simple - Chris Griffith Divorce Mediation Attorney

I can't say enough about how great our experience has been with Chris at Split Simple. We went into…read morethis process with a lot of apprehension, frustration and confusion. Apprehension about whether or not mediation was the right course for us. Frustration, trying to navigate the complexities of filing the mountain of ambiguous paperwork required by the state. And confusion about whether or not we could make all these decisions without bringing expensive layers into the process. Chris was everything we needed. He sent us all the pre-work required to prepare for our mediation. He gave us directions in clear, non-legal sounding formats and we understood everything we needed to discuss and all the documents we needed to gather, prior to our mediation. During the mediation Chris was a total professional. He walked us through the most common resolutions to our most pressing issues and worked with us on the more atypical aspects of our personal separation. We were both so fortunate to encounter Chris and choose mediation over other, more adversarial forms of the divorce process. He saved us countless hours of work, thousands of dollars and most importantly, the emotional scars of the conflict that we were, thankfully, able to avoid. He is the best thing that happened during a very unfortunate time in our lives.

Márquez Law - Managing Partner Jason Márquez

We retained Jason Marquez based on his strong initial presentation and positive Google reviews. At…read morethe outset, he indicated that achieving a 50/50 parenting schedule and joint decision-making authority was realistic. Unfortunately, after working with him for approximately five to six years, we were deeply disappointed with the level of advocacy, professionalism, and follow-through provided. While Mr. Marquez was capable of drafting emails and filing motions, his courtroom advocacy consistently fell short. During hearings, he failed to adequately challenge inaccurate claims made by the opposing party, did not contest evidence he later acknowledged was flawed or misused, and did not meaningfully advocate when a judge relied on incorrect information to modify our parenting time. Our original custody schedule was every Tuesday and every other weekend--yet under his representation, our Tuesdays were actually taken away. Aside from securing a 50/50 schedule during the summer months, there was little substantive progress toward the goals we were initially told were achievable. Communication and timeliness were also major issues. On one occasion, Mr. Marquez stated an important email would be handled within a couple of days, but no action was taken for nearly two weeks despite multiple follow-ups. A "final" version of that email was not provided until more than a month later, causing unnecessary delays. He later admitted that he should have met with us in person or by phone rather than relying on prolonged email exchanges, stating that the back-and-forth had left him confused about our objectives. By the end, it was clear he no longer understood what we were trying to accomplish. He repeatedly stated that his email inbox functions as his to-do list, meaning clients must send multiple reminder emails just to ensure tasks are addressed. Billing practices further compounded these concerns. We were charged full amounts for work that did not meet promised timelines or outcomes. Commitments outlined in his own contract were not consistently honored, yet billing continued regardless. We were left responsible for costs associated with delays and unmet assurances, including a closing letter that lacked a file he had promised would be included. Additionally, Mr. Marquez represented my mother in her divorce case, and her experience closely mirrored ours--minimal courtroom advocacy, little strategic effort, and substantial fees despite limited progress. Taken together, these experiences raise serious concerns about consistency, accountability, and overall value. We were also troubled by aspects of his professional conduct. He routinely ended calls by referring to us as "kids," which felt dismissive, disrespectful, and indicative of how little he valued his clients. Given the length of representation and the significant financial investment, we expected far more proactive advocacy, transparency, and strategic leadership. Unfortunately, our experience did not meet those expectations. I would not recommend Mr. Marquez to anyone seeking meaningful progress in a custody case. With a caseload of 90+ clients, it became clear that our matter was lost in the shuffle.

Jason is very pricy for the service provided, and had very little fight in him during my divorce. I felt like he was just interested in taking my money, and did not fight for me in court. Would not recommend him for divorce cases. He got beat by an attorney that had been practicing for 4 years, when I provided him so much evidence to get me more than what I got from the Judge. He cost me over 30k to get screwed!! He charged me over $2600 in post divorce filings, which amounted to about 4 hours of work from him and his office. One final note, one of the 5 star reviews, is from his office manager. Conflict of interest????
