Today was the follow up appointment for the root canal I had last month…read more I arrived earlier than my appointed time. Last time the GPS sent me to the wrong end of Fox St; and kept rerouting me back to the same spot. Today the GPS did it's job. The front desk staff informed Dr. Blondin that I was here; and almost immediately I was ushered into an exam room. His assistant had me in two bibs to protect my clothes, asked if I wanted music, I thought I was on a cruise ship. Every knob, handle, wire, instrument in the room was covered with plastic. The Zeiss microscope was in its own sealed plastic bag. Dr. Blondin was in shortly. He explained what was going to happen today in his cheerful and reassuring voice. After a local analgesic; the work began. A dental dam was applied, then the drilling began. All the while the doctor was letting me know what was going on during the procedure. A few X-rays latter I was almost done. The X-rays showed the true picture of the bicuspid and the repair done. I'm way past the age of being in awe of anything. This endodontist office leaves me awestruck. Everyone does their job with precision and acumen. If you need a great endodontist - This is the place to go to first. What's that old saying? "you've seen the rest; now see the best". I'm paraphrasing.

So I walked into this beautiful office which describing it won't do it any justice, I was greeted by some wonderful front desk ladies. My wait time was very minimal actually I believe I was called within 5 mins of me finishing the paperwork. I was explained how much I would be responsible for before they began to work on me. They took some very high tech images of my teeth, and then Dr. Magdalena came in. She kept apologizing for the horrible work that was done by that crazy dentist. She couldn't understand how someone could let me leave their office all botched up or how I managed this pain for so long. My root canal was difficult from what I saw on the screenings and what my referring dentist told me before. I didn't feel a thing! I remember thinking when I went for a basic filling I felt like the "crazy" dentist was killing me! But here I was getting a root canal and no pain whatsoever. Definitely recommend her and Dr. Nijem from Family Smiles of the Hudson Valley, for fixing the horrible work I received at the dental office on Lagrange Ave in Poughkeepsie.

This review is strictly based on my first visit for consultation with Dr. Mejia…read more Location was very convenient, off of Route nine with ample parking. I was referred to this office by my dentist for a root canal. I have dental insurance, but it turns out they do not accept any insurance. It is strictly out of pocket pay on way. I'll get back to this later , but I trust Dr. Viani's recommendation so we moved ahead with the consultation. First impression of the friendliness of the staff was good. Cara greeted me and signed me in. I completed the usual paperwork, which had a Services menu at the back. That should have been my first tip off. I just assumed because my dentist referred me that they accepted dental insurance would assist in completing the paperwork. The exam itself was very quick in that all they needed were x-rays Amanda was delightful. She provided me with assistance since I have been recuperating from a medical condition and have dizzy spells . Amanda insure that I was studying on my feet while getting into and out of the exam chair and back-and-forth to the digital 360 x-ray machine. Dr. Mia was very personable, seemed very efficient and knowledgeable. She explained the treatment that she felt I needed. I agree that I do need the treatment. So far we're looking at five stars for the office experience and the care I have been given during the consultation. Unfortunately, my experience suffered a bit when I went to check out. I knew I would be paying $200 for the consultation which didn't include the x-rays. What surprised me was the reluctance to provide me with paperwork with a diagnosis code that I could provide to my dental insurance for potential reimbursement. I don't think there are many people who are in a position where they can outlay thousands of dollars for treatment without the hope of some form of reimbursement by their insurance company. Kara was more accommodating in getting me a receipt and a treatment plan form which had the treatment codes on it. And they did generate a claim form for me. The other assistant whose name I am forgetting lacked a sense of humor and could've been more empathetic. (Perhaps she was having a bad day, as was I.) I should not have felt bad about asking for documentation. After all, we are talking about a couple of thousands of dollars for this treatment plus $200 for the consultation. Last time I looked, we do not live in a high-end neighborhood. I'm sure I'm not the first person who was hoping to get some type of reimbursement from my insurance plan. Anyway, I'm not going to let one person out of four dissuade me from pursuing the next phase and potentially treating through this I'll update you later once I have discussed the plan with my insurance company and followed back up with Blondin. Losing one and a half stars due to a lack of empathy on checkout, and the fact that don't accept insurance. I'm rounding up because the rest of my experience so far has been good.

Honestly, I went in there hoping he would say it was too challenging and I should have the tooth pulled. Because I'd rather have another extraction than go through what I did with my previous root canal. Well. From the minute I entered the office through x-rays, procedure and payment, it was the most professional, cordial and caring experience. Every staff member including Dr. Blondin did their job to the highest standard and dealt with me in a way that was edifying, reassuring, highly knowledgeable and compassionate. Looks like I have a very good chance of keeping this molar, and if I or anyone I know needs future endodontic care, This is The Place!

I was overcharged, and my insurance was submitted claims for procedures that were never performed, which raises serious ethical and billing concerns. After a crown was placed in March 2025, my regular dentist later found excess cement left directly on my gum line--a basic and preventable error. My dentist was extremely disturbed by this and stated it could have caused damage to my gums. Leaving cement behind reflects a clear lack of attention to standard dental care and patient safety. To make matters worse, the crown fell off while I was eating (and unfortunately swallowed) yet I was told I would need to pay out of pocket for a completely new crown, despite the original being placed only months earlier. Refusing to stand behind recent work while shifting the financial burden onto the patient is unprofessional and unacceptable. Between the billing irregularities, substandard workmanship, and lack of accountability, I strongly advise others to avoid this office altogether. If you do choose to go here, verify every charge, closely monitor what is submitted to your insurance, and be prepared to seek corrective care elsewhere.

It seems to be a generally small practice so a typical patient is more valued.
